Bio

I plan to attend college in the fall of 2024 after I graduate high school this spring. I love anything to do with creativity, including reading and writing. I hope to pursue a career in teaching high school English and help students find an interest in English that I have.

Essay I love learning and helping others. I want a career where I can be creative and positively impact others; to do this, I want to become a teacher and lead the next generations to success. I hope to attend college and receive a degree in English education. I have a passion for English; I love reading, writing, and learning about literature. I work at a bookstore and love talking to others about books. I want to help students the way my English teacher inspired me in my junior year. My teacher, Ms. Shevchuk, loved to get into deep discussions about issues I never thought I would be able to talk about openly in class in a healthy, positive manner. I read The Catcher and the Rye, introducing myself to a field of classical literature. In my first AP class, my teacher showed me how hard work can pay off to become successful in a subject I love. Other than English class, I also love performing literature. I am a captain of my high school's Speech and Debate Team. I perform a prose monologue during competition, and as captain, I help students feel more confident in their pieces and themself. Speech helps develop critical public speaking skills; I feel lucky that I am not only a part of it myself but also have the opportunity to help others. Sometimes, however, it isn't about leadership but simply making a difference in my community. As a member of my high school's Equity Ambassador Club, led by Ms. Shevchuk, I help promote not only equality but equity for all students. Each year, we have two service projects that promote inclusion and help others. This previous year, we created a pantry of food and other necessities for underprivileged students to access for snacks and items such as hand sanitizer and tissues. Our second project was to make period products widely available at my school. Previously, period products were available by limited teachers and the clinic, provided by the staff with their own money. We distributed products so all students could access these products. With each club or activity, I hope to learn and help others. This is why I want to pursue a career doing the same thing. I wish to combine my passion for English with my willingness to help everyone succeed. As a teacher, I want to be a resource for my students to reach out to and learn new and different things they never thought they would be able to learn.
