My name is Kateri Sherman, and I plan to major in Communications at the University of Kentucky. I’m passionate about sports photography and hope to build a career in sports media, though I’m keeping my options open. I love expressing myself—whether through writing, my style, or the photos I take.
I run Kateri Sherman Photography and have freelanced for Ohio MileSplit and the Dayton Dragons. Inspired by my mom’s sacrificed creative dreams, I’m determined to turn my passion into a career. I also love giving back—mentoring students, volunteering, and capturing my community’s sports moments to keep people engaged. Driven and determined, I’m excited for what’s next!

Creating my portfolio was an emotional and reflective process, as I wanted to capture more than just athleticism—I wanted to tell a story. I chose black and white track and field images to strip away distractions and focus on raw emotion: the determination in an athlete’s face, the celebration after crossing the finish line, the quiet moments of reflection before a race. These moments reflect not only the athletes' journeys but also my own—pushing through challenges, staying dedicated, and constantly striving for improvement.
Track and field is unique because every second, every step, every push forward matters. That’s how I see my photography journey. I’ve put in countless hours, refining my skills, investing in my equipment, and taking on opportunities to grow. Much like the athletes I photograph, I’ve faced setbacks and obstacles, but my passion drives me to keep going.
This portfolio is more than just images—it’s a representation of my connection to photography and my commitment to making it my career. I want my work to move people, to make them feel something, just like these moments made me feel when I captured them. Photography isn’t just something I do; it’s a part of who I am, and this portfolio reflects that.
