Bio

Ever since I was in 6th grade I took an interest in coding. I went into this elective, Computer Science, and learned some things about computers and coding. 5-6 years later, I still am interested I was in the topic, and wish to major in it. I’m not sure where I would like to work at yet, but I do know I can make a difference wherever I do decide to work. However, enough of my major. Me personally, I enjoy playing video games, drawing, attempting to animate and 3D modeling. Well, attempting to do 3D modeling. I love dogs, I love to research things, I do love history, and enjoy archery, soccer, and track, even with chronic pain within my shoulders and knees.

Driving while intoxicated (DUI) is a major and persistent problem that continues to have terrible impacts on people, families, and society as a whole. DUI occurrences include drivers operating automobiles while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, endangering both themselves and others. This essay examines the negative impacts of DUIs and offers practical measures that can be taken to stop these risky occurrences. Loss of Lives and Injuries: One of the most significant and tragic consequences of DUIs is the loss of innocent lives. Impaired drivers are more likely to cause accidents, resulting in fatalities and life-altering injuries for victims and their families. Each year, countless lives are shattered due to the reckless actions of intoxicated drivers. Legal Consequences: DUI offenses carry severe legal penalties, including fines, license suspensions, mandatory substance abuse programs, and possible jail time. Repeat offenders face even harsher punishments, leading to significant financial burdens and a tarnished reputation. Emotional and Psychological Impact: For those involved in DUI-related accidents, the emotional toll can be overwhelming. Survivors and family members of victims often struggle with trauma, grief, and guilt, which may take years to heal. Economic Burden: DUI incidents place a considerable economic strain on society. From emergency response costs to medical expenses and legal proceedings, the financial impact of DUI-related accidents is substantial. Part II: Strategies for DUI Prevention Public Awareness Campaigns: Raising awareness about the dangers and consequences of DUI is essential to fostering a responsible drinking culture. Governments, non-profit organizations, and private companies can collaborate to launch educational campaigns through various media platforms. These campaigns should emphasize the importance of designated drivers, public transportation, and rideshare services. Stricter Legislation: Governments can enact and enforce stricter DUI laws to act as a deterrent. This includes lowering the legal blood alcohol concentration (BAC) limit, implementing mandatory ignition interlock devices for convicted DUI offenders, and increasing penalties for repeat offenders. Sobriety Checkpoints: Regular DUI checkpoints conducted by law enforcement agencies help deter impaired driving and identify intoxicated drivers before accidents occur. Visible and random checkpoints send a strong message about the seriousness of the issue and discourage individuals from taking the risk. Education in Schools: Integrating DUI prevention education into school curriculums can instill responsible behavior from an early age. Age-appropriate lessons should highlight the consequences of DUIs and provide information about the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse. Employers' Initiatives: Companies can contribute to DUI prevention efforts by promoting responsible alcohol consumption at workplace events and offering employee assistance programs for substance abuse issues. Employers can also encourage the use of rideshare services or provide transportation for employees who may be impaired. Technological Solutions: Advancements in technology offer potential solutions for DUI prevention. Breathalyzer-enabled vehicle ignition systems can prevent impaired drivers from starting their cars. Additionally, smartphone apps can help individuals assess their level of impairment and provide alternative transportation options. Evidently, the effects of DUIs extend far beyond the immediate incident, leaving a lasting impact on individuals, families, and society as a whole. Preventing DUIs requires a multi-faceted approach that encompasses public awareness, legislative changes, education, and technological innovations. By implementing these strategies, we can work towards reducing the prevalence of DUI incidents, saving lives, and building a safer, more responsible society for everyone. Responsible choices and collective efforts are key to preventing DUIs and creating a future free from the devastating consequences they bring.

I'm grateful for the support of my family and friends, who have always encouraged me to follow my dreams and never give up. But I also know that there are many individuals out there who face much greater obstacles than I do. The tech industry, like many others, has a long history of exclusion and discrimination, particularly towards individuals from marginalized communities. As someone who comes from a background of poverty and hardship, I know how important it is for the tech industry to be more inclusive and welcoming to individuals from all walks of life. That's why I believe that it's essential for us as a society to work towards creating a more equitable and just world. We need to break down the systemic barriers that prevent certain groups from accessing education and job opportunities, and we need to support individuals who are striving to make a difference in their communities and beyond. In conclusion, I'm excited for the journey ahead as I pursue higher education and work towards making a difference in the field of cybersecurity. As a gamer, I've always been drawn to the endless possibilities of Minecraft. From building towering structures to exploring vast worlds, there's something about this game that captures my imagination like no other. But it wasn't until I started diving deeper into the Minecraft community that I realized just how powerful this game could be in bringing people together and sparking creativity. For me, the turning point came when I discovered the world of Minecraft mods. Mods are user-created modifications to the game that can add new features, change the gameplay, or even create entirely new game modes. I was blown away by the sheer variety of mods available, and I quickly became hooked on trying out new ones and exploring all the ways that Minecraft could be customized. But it wasn't just the mods themselves that drew me in - it was the sense of community that came with them. I was amazed by the creativity and ingenuity of these players, who were using Minecraft as a platform for everything from virtual art installations to complex programming projects. Through these connections, I started to see how Minecraft could be a powerful tool for education and inclusivity. Minecraft has been used in classrooms around the world to teach everything from history to coding, and I realized that this game had the potential to break down barriers and bring people of all backgrounds and abilities together. As someone passionate about technology and education, I knew that I wanted to get more involved in the Minecraft community and use my skills to make a positive impact. I started contributing to open-source Minecraft mods, creating new features and fixing bugs to help make the game more accessible and enjoyable for everyone. But I also realized that there were still many barriers to inclusivity in the tech community, especially when it comes to people with disabilities. Minecraft itself has been criticized for not being accessible enough for players with disabilities, and I knew that there was a lot of work to be done to make the game and the wider tech community more inclusive. That's why I believe that it's essential for the tech community to be proactive in ensuring that technology is accessible and inclusive to all consumers, regardless of their abilities. This means not only creating accessible software and hardware but also building communities that are welcoming and supportive to all individuals. For example, in the Minecraft community, there are now mods and texture packs specifically designed to improve accessibility for players with visual impairments or color blindness. There are also Minecraft servers that cater specifically to players with disabilities, providing a safe and welcoming space for them to connect and play with others. But there is still much more work to be done. We need to continue advocating for accessibility and inclusivity in the tech community, not just in Minecraft but in all areas of technology. This means encouraging more diversity in the industry and working to eliminate biases and discrimination that can prevent certain groups from accessing the tools and opportunities they need to succeed. In conclusion, Minecraft has been a powerful inspiration for me to dive deeper into the world of gaming and technology. Through the game and its community, I've learned about the potential of technology to bring people together, spark creativity, and drive innovation. But I've also seen the barriers that still exist to inclusivity and accessibility, and I'm committed to working to break down those barriers and make the tech community a more welcoming and supportive place for all individuals.

Growing up, I was always fascinated by video games. I loved exploring virtual worlds, solving puzzles, and mastering new challenges. But as I got older, I began to realize that video games could be more than just a fun pastime. They could be a pathway to a meaningful career in Cybersecurity. One game that played a particularly important role in inspiring me to pursue this field was Minecraft. For those who are unfamiliar with the game, Minecraft is an open-world sandbox game where players can build and explore their virtual worlds using blocks and other resources they gather from the game's environment. At first glance, it might not seem like there's much connection between Minecraft and Cybersecurity, but for me, the game was a powerful introduction to the concepts and skills that I would later use in my professional life. One of the things that drew me to Minecraft was its focus on problem-solving. As a player, you're constantly faced with new challenges to overcome, from building complex structures to defending against enemy mobs. To succeed in Minecraft, you need to think creatively, use your resources wisely, and be willing to take risks and try new things. These same skills are essential in Cybersecurity, where you're often tasked with identifying and mitigating complex threats that require out-of-the-box thinking and a willingness to experiment with new approaches. Another aspect of Minecraft that appealed to me was its emphasis on teamwork and collaboration. Although the game can be played solo, it's often more fun and rewarding to team up with other players to tackle challenges and build amazing structures together. In Cybersecurity, teamwork is also essential, as you need to work closely with other professionals to identify and respond to threats. Whether you are a part of a security operations center or a member of a sports team, collaboration and communication skills are key to success. Perhaps most importantly, Minecraft taught me the value of persistence and hard work. In Minecraft, there's no magic button you can push to instantly solve a problem or build an amazing structure. Everything you accomplish in the game requires effort, dedication, and a willingness to learn from your mistakes. This same mindset is essential in Cybersecurity, where success often comes down to your ability to persevere through difficult challenges and never give up in the face of adversity. As I continued to explore the world of video games, I began to see how these same skills and values applied to other areas of technology and beyond. Whether it was attempting to develop my own Minecraft mods or starting to learn how to program games, I found that the skills I was building in these virtual worlds were directly applicable to real-world problems and challenges. Looking back, I'm grateful for the role that video games like Minecraft played in inspiring me to pursue this career. While some might dismiss video games as a frivolous or time-wasting activities, I believe that they have the power to shape our lives and our futures in profound and meaningful ways. Whether you're a hardcore gamer or just someone who enjoys an occasional round of Candy Crush, I encourage you to think about how your experiences with video games might be preparing you for a career or a calling that you never even knew existed.

As someone who is both a creative person and a leader, I believe that there are countless ways to give back to our communities. When we use our creativity and leadership skills, we have the power to inspire and empower others and create a brighter future for ourselves and for generations to come. One of the most important ways that creative individuals can give back is by using their art to inspire others. Art has the power to touch people's hearts and minds in ways that nothing else can, and it can help to foster a sense of community and connection that transcends traditional boundaries. Whether it's through music, writing, painting, or any other form of creative expression, artists can share their unique perspectives and experiences with the world, and encourage others to do the same. As a leader, I have found that one of the most rewarding ways to give back is by helping others to achieve their goals. Leadership is about empowering others to reach their full potential, and by providing support, guidance, and mentorship, we can help others to develop their leadership skills and become agents of change in their own right. Whether it's coaching a team of volunteers, mentoring young artists, or advocating for important causes, leadership can help us to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others. In addition to inspiring others and empowering them to achieve their goals, creative leaders can also give back by working to build a more just and sustainable world. This means being an active participant in our communities, supporting local businesses and organizations, and advocating for policies and initiatives that promote equity, justice, and environmental sustainability. By using our creativity and leadership skills to promote positive change, we can help to create a world that is more equitable, more sustainable, and more just for everyone. Of course, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to giving back, and different creative leaders will find different ways to make a positive impact in their communities. Some may focus on mentoring and coaching others, while others may focus on advocacy and policy work. Still, others may choose to use their art to inspire and engage others, or to raise awareness about important issues. Ultimately, what matters most is that we use our creativity and leadership skills to make a positive difference in the world around us. Whether we are working to inspire others, empower them to achieve their goals, or build a more just and sustainable world, we have the power to create meaningful change in the lives of those around us. By giving back to our communities, we can help to create a brighter future for ourselves and for generations to come.

Growing up, I went through many different things. The abuse from my father, my mother hating me due to looking like my father, and in general being someone I wasn't. Even if I am applying under the name Katelynn Lugo, my true name is Artemis, and I am a male. Ever since I was younger I knew I was transgender, and living in an unsupportive household made it worse to deal with. This then made me depressed and unfortunately suicidal at the time. It started when I was 9 when I was yelled at for hurting myself for attention from my mother. Afterward, instead of hurting myself for others, I began hurting myself for feeling worthless. I am an only child and did not feel worthwhile for my family. It soon got worse and worse till I was 12, when I kept idealizing suicide, but never truly went through with it. Though, this was when I was becoming more open about myself and knowing myself, and began to ask my friends to refer to me as a male with he/him pronouns and with my desired name. I also began to talk to my friends about my thoughts and confided in my older cousins at the time about my thoughts. Even without professional help, it began to get better and better, and eventually, my only thought was to work hard enough to get out of my household and live my life. However, 2020 came around. Covid, Coronavirus, Covid-19. I was forced home and had no escape other than speaking online, and being 14, I felt like this was hell at the time. I had no one to talk to face to face, as even if my parents were hospital workers, I had my grandma at home listening to my conversations. I couldn't escape. But, I started to distract myself and got into hobbies, such as drawing, coding, and journaling. Rather than sharing my thoughts with others, I started sharing them with the paper. All the negative thoughts went somewhere they couldn't escape from, at least if the journal was in my care. This made me get calmer, and feel more confident, and rather than breaking down in front of my family, I was able to go along and feel calm rather than stressed about being transgender. This helped relieve the thoughts, and if I'm honest, I still have these thoughts. Of course, I do not have professional help. But with help from friends and my effort in working to distract myself with healthy and productive methods, it can make them manageable.
