My name is Kassidy, I’m 17, I’ll be a senior in high school this fall and I’m a student athlete. I do track and American ninja warrior. I’ve also done wrestling and lacrosse in high school, and soccer in elementary school. I do the 100 meter in track and this season I’m planning to try the javelin. I also did pole vault last year but I tore my ACL and meniscus by landing wrong in practice. I’ve been doing American ninja warrior for 7 years now and I’m on the competitive team that my gym has, I’ve been on it for 5 or 6 years now and I’ve done many local competitions in the Pacific Northwest and I’ve qualified for worlds 3 times, I unfortunately never was able to go due to conflicts. I’d say ninja is my primary and best sport but track is really fun and I enjoy running the 100. Another hobby I have is, I do marching band as well as indoor percussion. I started doing this my sophomore year and I’ve really enjoyed all of the competition and I’ve made so many new friends. I’ve only played bass drum but this season I get to be section leader for battery and I’ll hopefully get to play snare drum in marching band this year. After college I’ll be entering the field of meteorology and my dream is to work for NASA, NOAA or the National Weather Service. I want to contribute to the field’s knowledge of extreme weather such as hurricanes and tornadoes. I want to help gather more information about tornados so we can hopefully have earlier warning for tornados and give people more time to prepare which could help with less deaths and possibly less damage people have to deal with later. I would like to learn how climate change is affecting where tornado alley is but also if it’s actually moving and if climate change is the thing moving it. I also want to know how it’s affecting hurricanes and how we can maybe predict where the path of a hurricane will be much earlier in time when it’s forming. I hope to save lives, create earlier warning systems, and contribute as much knowledge as possible to this field. I also hope to learn a lot about all types of weather, from average thunderstorms to why rain storms form to just how to make a seven-day forecast. The weather is fascinating and I hope to contribute as much as possible to this field while also learning new things every day.
