As an Animal Science major on the pre-veterinary track at Tuskegee University, my ultimate goal is to become a global veterinarian specializing in wildlife conservation. I want to use science to protect endangered species, preserve biodiversity, and strengthen the relationship between people, animals, and the environment. My focus is on building sustainable solutions that allow communities and wildlife to thrive together. I have been accepted into the University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine, where I will continue my studies to become a global veterinarian specializing in wildlife and conservation medicine. I would personally choose House Ravenclaw, at Hogwarts. In my view wisdom governs traits like bravery in Gryffindor, loyalty in Hufflepuff and ambition, in Slytherin. Ravenclaw students are known for their wisdom, wit and creative intelligence when it comes to problem solving. When students start their year at Hogwarts they are sorted into one of the four houses with Ravenclaw being the house founded by Rowena Ravenclaw herself. Those belonging to Ravenclaw are also known for their creativity, independence and appreciation of logic. They rely on their thinking to understand situations and make inferences based on their experiences and circumstances. For instance, Luna is emotionally intuitive; she can sense when Harry needs company or space. While they do enjoy studying their learning goes beyond memorization or mere book knowledge. They possess an understanding of how things work. Enough the dream that led to the establishment of Hogwarts was experienced by Rowena Ravenclaw herself; it involved a warty hog leading her to the Black Lake. Additionally, Ravenclaws are known for speaking their minds without hesitation or sugarcoating things. Luna Lovegood is an example as she always expresses herself matter of factly. She openly acknowledged that Hagrid, another character adored by fans wasn't particularly adept, as a teacher. Additionally, she informed Ron that Padma Patil wasn't interested in being his date for the Yule Ball. Moreover, their common room is absolutely amazing! Similar to House rooms it boasts vibrant House colors (blue and bronze silk wall hangings in this case) and a midnight blue carpet adorned with stars. The room itself is spacious, circular and filled with fresh air thanks to its ceiling painted with stars. The walls feature windows that offer breathtaking views of the majestic surrounding mountains. Inside the room, you'll find bookcases along with tables and chairs. Opposite the entrance lies another door leading to the dormitories. Next to this door stands a pedestal holding a life-size statue carved from marble depicting Rowena Ravenclaw wearing her diadem. I feel like I'm a fit for this House because I share a passion for studying and value intelligence. Currently pursuing my college education I engage in studying as a part of my daily routine. Reading is also one of my pastimes; genres such, as Self Help, fantasy novels and financial literacy materials rank high among my favorites. I enjoy incorporating the knowledge I gain from these novels into my life, which helps me keep an open mind. I also possess intuition that aligns with the Ravenclaw house because I can read the room and understand how others are feeling. If someone is experiencing an emotion I am able to assess the situation and give them space if necessary. Overall, this makes me the perfect fit for the Ravenclaw House.

I'm a fan of the K-pop group BTS. Initially, their name stood for Bangtan Sonyeondan. Now it represents the phrase "Beyond the Scene" to cater to an English-speaking audience. They have become one of the music boy groups, on social media and have a dedicated fanbase called "Army." They made their debut in 2013 and have been steadily growing since. What attracts me and many others to them is their performances, personalities and their active presence on social media. It's not just their music that's energetic; even their music videos are filled with color and cultural elements. One of my songs by BTS is "Idol," which has an upbeat tone. The accompanying music video showcases each member wearing different cultural clothing while incorporating dances like South Africa Gwara Gwara and Nigerian Shaku Shaku and is performed by the members themselves. Towards the end of the video, there's a compilation featuring fans, from backgrounds, abilities and age groups participating in the BTS Idol challenge. It beautifully demonstrates how art can bring people together regardless of differences. In addition, their music often addresses issues. Focuses on themes, like self-acceptance, individuality and empowerment. Beyond their talents, they also challenge gender norms through their clothing choices. One member in particular Jimin has caught the attention of many, including myself with his gender fashion sense. He consistently pushes boundaries when it comes to expectations of masculinity and femininity both on and off the stage. For example, he was featured on the cover of a magazine and was seen wearing a skirt. This not only serves as an inspiration for me to step out of my comfort zone but also as a reminder to be true to myself without apology. Moreover, they hold the distinction of being the first Korean pop group to address the United Nations. Their achievement is truly remarkable in my eyes. The group leader RM spoke about overcoming insecurities and encouraged people around the world to do the same. Through his speech at the UN, he made us feel a sense of connection because he openly discussed his mistakes and emphasized the importance of embracing oneself gradually with love. This empowers me as an individual and further motivates me to stay positive. From their impact by challenging gender norms to spreading awareness about conquering insecurities, this band holds a place, in my heart. I wish for them to keep astonishing the world and evolving as individuals, throughout their journey.

The Haunting of Hill House is my series, on Netflix. It's a horror story that explores themes of trauma, longing, anxiety and fear. What sets Hill House apart is its ability to evoke empathy in me as a viewer. The show follows a family who spent a summer in the mansion known as Hill House, where something tragic happened to their mother. Although they eventually leave the house and grow up elsewhere the ghosts from Hill House continue to haunt them. One ghost in particular called the Bent Neck Lady plays a role in the series as she relentlessly haunts Nell, who is found dead in the episode. However, Nell's death was not actually by suicide. Instead, her soul becomes trapped within Hill House after her demise. It is, after her death that she realizes she has always been connected to the haunting presence of the Bent Neck Lady. These twists and turns from the beginning of the TV series grasped my attention and furthered my curiosity about the show. Furthermore, the first five episodes focus on each character individually. This in turn allows us as the audience to not only become acquainted with each sibling but also understand and connect with them as unique characters. Among all the captivating aspects of this series, my personal favorite is the representation of each sibling, as a stage of grief. Denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Enough the order in which they were born aligns perfectly with the stages of grief they embody. The eldest sibling Steve portrays denial as he adamantly refuses to acknowledge anything despite evidence throughout the series. Shirley embodies anger through her self-grudges. Theo represents bargaining as she tries to rationalize everything in an attempt to achieve an outcome. Luke personifies depression by seeking solace in heroin and desperately claiming that he cannot live without Nell's presence... Not least is Nell, the youngest sibling who symbolizes acceptance by reassuring her brothers and sisters that their love for one another is what truly matters. What adds a layer of intrigue to all this is that the actors themselves had no idea about these symbolic meanings, behind their characters during the production. This further adds to the thriller aspect outside of the film and when I found out this information my liking for the show increased even more. This TV series is a masterpiece and I hope to see further films like it on Netflix.

Tom Holland stands out as the Spider Man, among his counterparts. He portrays an socially awkward nerd, which resonates authentically with today's teenagers. At the time he exudes confidence in his abilities as Spider-Man. Unlike portrayals that may have succeeded in capturing one aspect of the character but not both. Holland seamlessly embodies both the essence of Spider-Man and Peter Parker. It's evident that he has a passion for the role having been a fan of Spider-Man himself. He has shared how he used to go to the theater with his friends to watch all the Marvel movies. Holland's dedication extends beyond being a fan; he brings enthusiasm to his portrayal of Spider-Man. His commitment is evident not in his acting but in doing most of his own stunts. Thanks to his background as a trained gymnast and parkour runner it was no surprise why he was chosen for the role in the place. One notable highlight was Tony Stark's suit designed specifically for Tom Holland's Spider-Man. The suit not only had a futuristic look but also included advanced features like interacting with an AI named Karen throughout "Spiderman; Homecoming." Among all iterations of Spider-Man suits this one stood out. Furthermore Tony Stark served as Spider-Man's mentor creating a dynamic that resembled that of a father-son relationship between them. I'm a Marvel fan. This relationship really resonates with me. Some people might argue that without Uncle Ben's death, we're missing an aspect of Holland's character motivation. However, the loss of Aunt May brings heartbreak and motivation to the storyline with a different character. His aunt May. Overall I believe Tom Holland is the fit, for Spider-Man and I'm excited to see him in films, beyond just the Spider-Man series.

I absolutely love rewatching Naruto, an anime series that never gets old for me. Interestingly I was the one, in my family who wasn't into anime before discovering Naruto. I couldn't quite grasp why it fascinated my family members and friends until I started watching it myself. Naruto taught me that anime is more than just a show filled with fights and animation. In the seasons of Naruto, we witness his journey towards becoming Hokage. What makes it truly relatable are the flashbacks and present-day events where he faces rejection from people in his village because of having the nine-tailed fox within him. With no parents, he relies on the guidance of the Hokage and a close teacher who looks after him. It's during the Chunin Exam that he forms friendships when teaming up with Sakura and Sasuke. Speaking of Sasuke, they become frenemies due, to their rivalry in surpassing each other's abilities. In the installment of Naruto, known as Naruto Shippuden we witness a transformation, in Naruto's character. He emerges as a leader inspiring others through his loyalty and determination to break the cycle of hate and violence within the ninja culture. This series beautifully portrays themes of loyalty, friendship and resilience. Regardless of the challenges Naruto faced he never gave up on himself his friends or his ultimate goal. However, things take a turn when Sasuke, who has become Naruto's companion turns into a villain. His actions unleash chaos upon the world. The severity of Sasuke's deeds reaches such an extent that most ninjas desire his demise. It is at this point that Naruto comes to a realization. There may be no redemption for Sasuke. It was truly chilling to hear Naruto conclude that if Sasuke's sins were irredeemable and he had to die for them then it would be Naruto who would deliver the blow. He would take responsibility for his friend's actions. End Sasukes life himself. If he couldn't save Sasuke from darkness at least he could accompany him in death as a testament to their bond. Sacrifice everything he believed in as a ninja. Including protecting those close to him. It was, at this moment I truly understood the depth of Naruto's heroism. I think the reason this show really resonates with me is because it takes time to develop each character over seasons. Getting to know their stories and understanding why they act the way they do allows us as viewers to connect with them on a deeper level. I would definitely suggest this anime to anyone who's open, to exploring the world of anime and wants to dive into a story.

Survival mode is my part of the game because it really makes players think critically. It's not just, about survival tasks like building a house from scratch, finding food before nightfall and taming dogs. The real fun comes when you play this mode with friends as it promotes teamwork and active problem-solving. This mode and the game in general highlight the thinking aspect of gaming. While gaming is often criticized for "rotting your brain "Minecraft survival mode actually encourages us gamers to use our minds to solve problems and unleash our creativity when designing our world. We can even cleverly utilize the monsters in the game like creepers to blow up certain objects for resources. By leveraging the environment to our advantage we're inspired to come up with solutions to survive. In survival mode you have possibilities, for building—literally reaching for the sky! Moreover you're not limited to building in one ecosystem; there are ecosystems waiting to be explored on your journey. Personally what resonates with me is the nature of this game experience. The soothing music and the ability to build independently in this game create a sense of tranquility for me. The diverse ecosystems, within the game ignite my creativity and motivate me to bring elements of them to life. Playing with friends adds a layer of enjoyment. Collaborating with my friends and family while playing this game has allowed us to form memories together which hold a place in my heart.

The Richest Man in Babylon is the book that I would recommend. Only three months ago the National Bureau of Economic Research published a working paper entitled, “The Importance of Financial Literacy: Opening A New Field”. This piece, authored by Annamaria Lusardi and Olivia S. Mitchell, posited: “So many people lacking [financial literacy] not only makes their economic lives difficult, but it also contributes to wealth inequality in the economy at large” (2023). Undeniably, there are a myriad of factors that contribute to what many people believe is an untenable economic situation at present. However, what often goes unnoticed are the effects of financial literacy, and the lack thereof. To help ease the global burden of financial illiteracy, if I could have everyone in the world one book, it would by “The Richest Man in Babylon” by George S. Clason. Despite the fact the book was published before the Great Depression, its guidance on personal finance and wealth management is still relevant today. The book is written as a collection of parables whose intended purpose is to impart financial literacy in novel format. Some of the sage advice given includes saving a minimum of ten percent of income, wisely investing money in incoming-producing assets, the value of home ownership, and saving for retirement. These recommendations are still applicable today, nearly 100 years since the book was published. Cason did an excellent job of using relatable parables that address topics such as becoming destitute as a result of incurring sever debt. Unfortunately, too many people around the world can relate to this problem, yet they lack the financial literacy that is necessary to resolve their fiscal problems. To be clear, I am not implying that those who read and heed the financial advice disseminated throughout “The Richest Man In Babylon” will become financially savvy overnight. However, I am confident that the financial lessons would lead anyone to reach an improved financial position, while simultaneously preventing them from creating more self-inflicted financial burdens for themselves. Said succinctly, everyone could benefit from reading “The Richest Man in Babylon”. By having everyone in the world read this book, I am hopeful that people will be able to make a conscious decision to become financially literate, rather than being relegated to poverty.
