Bio

Hi! I am a 27 year old, singe mom to a beautiful (and sassy!) 8 year old daughter. I am currently enrolled in a dental hygiene program. I have one year left and my goal upon graduation is to take & pass my boards, then volunteer on mission trips to Guatemala and Kenya to assist as a dental team memeber to treat young & underpriveleged children. I want to pursue my bachelors in DH and work to educate my patients on their oral and systemic health link while working clinically.

My educational journey will change my life in meaningful and lasting ways, both personally and professionally. One of the most important impacts it will have is providing me with financial stability and freedom. For a long time, I have been focused on simply surviving—working hard to pay bills and make ends meet. In doing so, I have had to sacrifice time and moments that I can never get back, including important milestones and everyday experiences with my daughter. By completing my education and establishing a stable career, I will be able to create a better balance between work and home life, allowing me to be more present, attentive, and involved as a mother. Beyond financial security, my education will equip me with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to become a competent and compassionate dental hygienist. I will be prepared to educate my patients thoroughly, provide proper care, and make informed clinical decisions. This confidence is essential not only for my own growth but also for ensuring that my patients receive safe, effective, and ethical treatment. I want to be the kind of clinician who makes patients feel comfortable, heard, and cared for while also delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. I also have aspirations that extend beyond my immediate community. I dream of participating in mission trips to countries such as Kenya and Guatemala, where I can contribute my skills to help underserved populations. Being part of a dental team that provides care to underprivileged children would be incredibly fulfilling and would allow me to give back in a meaningful and impactful way. These experiences would not only help others but also broaden my perspective and strengthen my passion for the field. My educational journey will not end with my initial degree. I plan to continue learning and growing by pursuing my bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene. Staying up to date with advancements in the field is essential for providing the best care possible and becoming a well-rounded clinician. In the future, I also hope to transition into teaching, where I can share my knowledge and experiences with the next generation of dental hygiene students and professionals. I am very lucky and fortunate to have the opportunity to progress through such a vigorus program. I have truly already had a wonderful and life changing experience and i hope to do the same for others who I may come across on my journey.
