Bio

The life goals that I would like to accomplish is; becoming an expert welder and be able to teach teens how to accurately weld in different positions along with the different weld types, I would also like to travel to different places in the world that I am interested in along with their history, and I would like to be able to earn a living to be able to have a adjustable and stable life. What I am most passionate about is helping people when they need an extra pair of hands or need help with solving a problem that they can't figure out. The reason why I would be a great candidate is my skills and effort that I am putting in into achieving a great career that will be able to help with building future structures and being a part of the welding work force. The skills that I possess are; Problem Solving - when there is a situation or a technological problem that needs to be situated, I can help that person out with getting the problem fixed. Hands-On - any task that involves the constant use of your hands is a task that is easy and manageable for me. And finally, Fast-Learning - I am capable of being able to learn quickly on how a task can be done or how to do something completely new that I have never done before.

      Weld Our Soul Scholarship
Hi, my name is Karson Gibson. I am currently a student at Marionville High School, MO and Scott Regional Technology Center (SRTC) in Monett, MO in my senior year and I plan to go to Crowder College in Neosho, MO with plans on completing an Associate’s degree in Applied Science in Advanced Manufacturing Technology (Welding) and to move in with my older brother that lives in Anderson, MO to be able to get to the college campus easier and to reduce the cost to attend Crowder College. I am interested in this field of work because of the unique way to assemble, construct, and shape metal structures or projects. I found this interest through my Ag. Science class in my Freshman year when we started to learn SMAW (Stick Welding) and how to properly use a welding machine and to avoid hazards while using a welding machine. I want to go to college and receive an Associate’s degree in welding to help other people with repairs of structural integrity repairs and to assemble metal parts for any significant task that I am assigned to in a company or an employer and is the most demanding career field in the workforce because of the lack of workers in this field and construction that requires welding to produce a strong and stable structure. This is my primary career vision that I want to accomplish for my future and working in the workforce. Furthermore, I would like to teach other teens and people on how to weld and assemble metal properly to be able to understand and know better on how this field of work is operated and executed. I also strive to be committed and dedicated to my work and getting the job done accurately and efficiently. My secondary career vision that I have is to become a traveling welder that goes from state-to-state to help with the construction or repairs of structures that are at a longer distance than the radius of my living and working environment. Furthermore, I would like to travel around the United States to discover the beauty of the many cities and forests and to assist any person or company that has the lack of knowledge or a lack of workers. I have a set of skills that can be effective for my career and my future endeavors. I understand that if I don’t go to this college, I am certain that I won’t be able to help people with these problems and achieve my career goals. I acknowledge that the career visions that I have are just dreams, but by having the opportunity of having a higher education, I will be able to achieve my dreams and goals of earning a living that is comfortable and efficient and being able to help others with their needs and situation.

I was diagnosed with Level 2 Autism when I was 5 years old. This disability hindered me in many ways but as the years have gone on, I have changed and improved to be able to adjust with society and the world. The disability almost made me completely lose my ability to speak. I also didn't have a great number of friends due to my anti-social nature, but I have gained some more friends in the recent years along with good acquaintances that I get along with very well. and I only had a few interests which made it difficult to relate or get to know one another, but I have expanded into more interests to be able to know more about everyone in my community. I acknowledge that the career visions that I have are just dreams, but by having the opportunity of having a higher education, I will be able to achieve my dreams and goals of earning a living that is comfortable and efficient and being able to help others with their needs and situation.
