Education is incredibly important to me because it represents the opportunity to build a better life for myself and to honor the sacrifices my family has made. I am a first generation student in my family, which means that attending school and pursuing higher education is not just a personal goal it is something my aunt and uncle has always valued and encouraged. They have worked hard to provide me with opportunities, and I want to make the most of this chance to create a life filled with possibilities beyond what I have experienced so far.
For me, education is the foundation for achieving my dreams and aspirations. From a young age, I have been passionate about aviation, and I know that reaching my goal of becoming a commercial pilot requires dedication, training, and a strong educational background. Every class I take, every skill I develop, is another step toward turning my childhood dream into a reality. Education gives me the tools to reach my professional goals and equips me with the knowledge, discipline, and resilience needed to succeed in a field I am deeply passionate about.
Beyond my personal ambitions, education also represents progress for my family and the example I set for my younger sister and brother. By pursuing higher education, I am showing them that perseverance, focus, and determination can lead to opportunities that might have seemed impossible. I want them to see that even in the face of challenges, staying committed to your goals can create a pathway to success. I hope that by achieving my own dreams, I can inspire my siblings to believe in their potential, aim high, and work hard to achieve their own aspirations.
The legacy I hope to leave is one of perseverance, achievement, and inspiration. I want to demonstrate that being the first in your family to attend college is not a limitation it is a chance to pave the way for future generations. By pursuing my goals and succeeding in aviation, I hope to show my sister, brother and others in my life the value of education, and the overall impact that dedication and hardwork have when reaching for your goals. Education is my pathway to achieving my dreams, creating a better life for myself, and leaving a legacy that encourages others to pursue theirs. Education to me Is like Aviation it is a chance to soar, grow, and inspire others along the way.

Life is full of challenges, and one experience in particular has shaped my perspective and fueled my passion for aviation. My interest in flying started as a childhood dream. When I was 11, my aunt took my sister and me onto our roof to watch the Tri-Cities boat races and air shows. I was mesmerized as planes performed barrel rolls, dives, and other stunts above our house. From that moment, I knew I wanted to be up there, experiencing that freedom and skill for myself. That childhood curiosity grew into a passion and eventually a clear goal to become a commercial pilot.
But reaching that goal has not been easy. Throughout high school, I struggled with anxiety and panic attacks, which sometimes made attending classes feel overwhelming. On top of that, my home life was unstable. During my freshman year, I became a misplaced teen living in my aunt’s living room. By my junior year, my mom had dropped off my younger sister, and I became responsible for caring for her while attending school. Balancing my mental health, schoolwork, and family responsibilities often felt impossible.
During this time, my AVID teacher, Mrs. Caton, became a critical support in my life. She made sure I had time in her class to catch up on assignments, helped me prioritize work from other classes, and advocated for me with my teachers. Her support allowed me to stay on track academically while navigating personal challenges. Through this, I learned resilience, time management, and the importance of asking for help when needed.
These experiences shaped not only my personal growth but also my professional goals. They reinforced the dedication and perseverance aviation demands. I know becoming a commercial pilot will require focus, discipline, and the ability to handle challenges skills I have been developing through my struggles. Beyond my career, I hope to mentor young people interested in aviation, showing them that obstacles can be transformed into motivation and opportunities.
What started as a childhood fascination has become a lifelong passion and a roadmap for my future. My experiences have taught me that challenges can inspire growth, strengthen determination, and motivate us to pursue our dreams with purpose. Aviation is more than a career to me it is a chance to soar, grow, and inspire others along the way.

One of the biggest hardships I have faced was managing school while dealing with anxiety and a challenging home life. For years, I struggled with anxiety and panic attacks, which sometimes made it impossible to stay in class or complete my work at home. On top of that, my home situation was unstable. During my freshman year, I became a misplaced teen, living in my aunt’s living room. By my junior year, my mom had dropped off my younger sister, who was only a year and a half old, and I became responsible for taking care of her in the mornings and after school while still attending classes and trying to keep up with my assignments.
Balancing these responsibilities was overwhelming. There were days when my anxiety felt unmanageable and nights when I worried I would fall behind in school while trying to take care of my sister. That’s when my AVID teacher, Mrs. Caton, became a critical support in my life. She made sure I had time in her class to catch up on missed assignments, helped me prioritize work from other classes, and even reached out to my teachers to explain my situation. Her support and understanding gave me the structure and encouragement I needed to keep going, even when it felt impossible.
Through her guidance, I was able to manage my responsibilities at home, my anxiety, and my schoolwork. I learned how to stay organized, ask for help when I needed it, and push myself even when things felt overwhelming. By the end of the year, I had not only caught up on all my assignments but also maintained my grades and continued working toward my long-term goals.
Overcoming this hardship taught me resilience, perseverance, and the importance of seeking support when facing challenges. It showed me that even in difficult circumstances, it is possible to achieve something meaningful with dedication, focus, and the right guidance. This experience inspired me to be more compassionate toward others and motivated me to help those who may be facing similar struggles. It also strengthened my belief in myself and my ability to handle challenges in all areas of my life.
Thanks to Mrs. Caton’s support and my own determination, I was able to turn a period of extreme difficulty into a meaningful accomplishment that shaped how I approach school during difficult time. I learned that even in moments that feel impossible, persistence, support, and hard work can lead to success and personal growth.

What jump started my interest in aviation was a childhood dream that I grew into a passion. When I was 11, my aunt took my sister and me up onto our roof to watch the Tri-Cities boat races and air shows. Every year, we could hear the planes roaring and performing tricks above our house. I was completely mesmerized watching them do barrel rolls, dives, and other stunts, and I remember thinking how incredible it would be to be up there myself. From that moment on, aviation became more than just something I enjoyed watching it became something I wanted to understand, learn about, and eventually dedicate my life to.
As I grew older, I realized that being a pilot is much more than performing tricks in an air show. With my aunt’s support, I had opportunities to explore aviation more deeply and learn about the paths pilots take, from military to commercial aviation. I discovered that pilots are not only skilled at flying but also take on huge responsibilities and must remain disciplined, precise, and focused at all times. My interest in becoming a commercial pilot grew even more after hearing Delta pilots speak at the Pasco airport. Listening to them share their experiences and responsibilities gave me a clearer understanding of the dedication and problem solving skills the job requires and strengthened my determination to pursue a career in aviation.
My long term goal is to become a commercial pilot with a major airline like Delta. I plan to complete the required schooling and training, earn my degree, and work my way up to flying commercially. Aviation is a field where I can pour all my passion and dedication into something I genuinely enjoy every day, even through challenges or rough patches. Beyond my career, I hope to give back to the community by mentoring and teaching young people who are interested in aviation, sharing my experiences, and helping them explore their own paths. I see this as an opportunity to continue contributing, inspire the next generation, and also have time to enjoy life myself.
Overall, my interest in aviation started as a childhood curiosity and has grown into a lifelong passion. I love the idea of building a career around something I enjoy, working hard to reach my goals, and using my knowledge to support and guide others. Aviation has shaped the way I see my future, and I am excited to keep learning, growing, and sharing what I love with others while making a meaningful impact along the way.

A high school teacher who deeply influenced me and changed how I approach my life is my AVID teacher, Mrs. Caton. I have struggled with anxiety and panic attacks at school, which has made it difficult for me to show up and fully participate in certain classes. There were many days where just being at school felt overwhelming. Because of this, I knew I needed something that would help me stay accountable and keep pushing forward, which is why I joined AVID during my sophomore year.
From the beginning, Mrs. Caton became a major source of support in my life. I have now been in her class for three years, and she has consistently inspired me to try my best in everything I do. She is always there when something comes up, whether it’s school-related or personal, and she truly cares about her students.
During my first year of AVID, I missed a lot of school due to anxiety and panic attacks that would sometimes make me physically sick. This made it hard to keep up with my work. Mrs. Caton made sure I had time in her class to catch up on assignments, and she also advocated for me by communicating with my other teachers about what I was going through. Because of her, I was given more understanding and flexibility, which helped me stay on track.
In my junior year, I continued to face challenges, not just with anxiety but also with my home life. I didn’t have a stable living situation and was staying in my aunt’s living room. Around the same time, my mom dropped off my younger sister, who was only a year and a half old, and I took on responsibility for helping care for her while still going to school. Even with everything going on, Mrs. Caton continued to support me. She made sure I had time to work on assignments and even encouraged me to focus on my other classes first so I wouldn’t fall behind.
Mrs. Caton changed how I approach my life by showing me the importance of perseverance and asking for help when I need it. She taught me that even when things feel overwhelming, I can still keep going and succeed. Because of her support and belief in me, I have been able to grow stronger, stay committed to my education, and push myself to do better.
Without Mrs. Caton, I would not be as successful in school as I am today. She has made a lasting impact on my life, and I will carry what she has taught me into my future.

Flying and aviation have had a major impact on my life by shaping both my passions and my long-term goals. What started as a childhood dream quickly grew into something much more meaningful over time. When I was 11 years old, my aunt took my sister and me onto our roof to watch the Tri-Cities boat races and air shows. Every year, I could hear the planes roaring above my house, and I remember watching them perform incredible tricks like barrel rolls and steep dives. I was completely mesmerized, and from that moment on, I knew I wanted to be up there someday experiencing it for myself.
As I got older, I started to realize that being a pilot involves much more than just performing tricks at an air show. With the support of my aunt, I was able to explore aviation more deeply and learn about different career paths, including both military and commercial aviation. One of the most influential experiences for me was hearing Delta pilots speak at the Pasco airport. Listening to them talk about their experiences and responsibilities gave me a better understanding of what the job is really like, and it strengthened my desire to pursue a career as a commercial pilot.
Aviation has given me a clear direction for my future and something to work toward. My goal is to become a commercial pilot for a major airline like Delta, where I can combine my passion with hard work and dedication. I am motivated to complete the required schooling and training so I can work my way up in the aviation industry. I know it will take time and effort, but it’s something I see myself fully committed to.
Beyond just a career, aviation has also shaped my personal goals. I want to build a stable future that allows me to retire comfortably and enjoy life after years of doing something I truly love. Before I reach that point, I also want to give back by mentoring and teaching young people who share the same interest in aviation. Since many pilots retire earlier than people in other professions, I see that as a chance to continue contributing in a meaningful way while also enjoying a different stage of life.
Overall, aviation has impacted my life by turning a childhood curiosity into a lifelong passion and a clear career path. It continues to motivate me to pursue something I genuinely enjoy, even through challenges, and to eventually help others follow their own dreams just like I am trying to do.

What jump started my interest in aviation was a childish dream that I grew into a passion. When I was 11 years old I remember my aunt taking me and my sister up onto our roof to watch the Tri-cities boat races, air shows. Every year you can hear the planes performing ticks above my house. As an 11 year old I was mesmerized by the planes performing tricks such as barrel rolls and dives in the air and I wanted to be up there as well. Soon I realized that being a pilot is a lot more than performing tricks in an air show, with the support of my aunt I was able to have many opportunities to learn what pilots actually do from the military to commercial.
Then furthering my interest in becoming a commercial pilot when I was able to hear from delta pilots at the Pasco airport. My long term goals are retirement. I love the idea of retiring and living as an old person. Who doesn't? Maybe not the old part but I think it sounds so fun to enjoy being old with someone. But before I can live it up being old I want to pour my hard work and dedication into a field I could pour all my passion into. So my long-term goal is to become a commercial pilot with a major airline like Delta. My degree would be extremely useful in this game plan. First I need to go through the required schooling and pre-recruisities to earn my degree and from there I can work my way up to a Major airline where I will hopefully be flying plans commercially while I save for my comfortable retirement. Before I retire from my pilot career I would love to give back to the community. In this scenario I would be teaching my knowledge to other young people with aspirations in aviation. So I would have a few years to work for more leisure and not be goal oriented, to teach a new generation of pilots. So what I am getting to overall is that my interest in aviation stems from a curiosity of a taste of something I find myself enjoying in the long run. One thing we always hear is “find a job doing something you are passionate about” and aviation is something I see myself enjoying everyday even during the rough patches.
I have not earned a private pilots license yet.
