Mental health is a topic that has been gaining more attention in recent years and for a good reason. It is estimated that around 1 in 4 people worldwide will experience a mental health issue at some point in their lives, making it a prevalent issue that affects us all in some way. Personally, my experience with mental health has been a challenging yet transformative journey that has influenced my beliefs, relationships, and career aspirations. When I was in middle school, I had aspirations of becoming an artist. I practiced every day, but when I looked around me I saw the gap. They all had such amazing art and it felt like they weren't even trying. And yet mine wasn't nearly as good. It threw me into depression I thought that I was useless and couldn't compare. As someone who has struggled with depression, my mental health has had a significant impact on my life. It has taught me the importance of self-care and the value of seeking help when needed. I have been able to manage my symptoms and gain a better understanding of myself. This experience has influenced my beliefs about mental health, as I now firmly believe that seeking help for mental health issues should be normalized and encouraged. One thing that helped me get through the experience was when I found my brother was also dealing with self-esteem issues. This led him to give up on academics. It made me feel like I wasn't alone. Furthermore, my experience with mental health has also influenced my relationships. It has taught me the importance of empathy and understanding, as I have had to navigate my struggles while also supporting loved ones who have experienced mental health issues. I have learned that mental health is a complex and nuanced issue that requires patience, compassion, and open communication. In terms of career aspirations, my experience with mental health has influenced my desire to pursue a career in a more stable industry. Art is a passion of mine but I can't let myself tie my self-worth to it so I've decided to move on to another passion of mine science. Despite the challenges that come with mental health issues, I have also had positive experiences with the mental health industry. I have had the privilege of working with people who have been compassionate, knowledgeable, and understanding. They have helped me gain a deeper understanding of myself and have provided me with the tools to manage my symptoms. Additionally, I have been fortunate to access affordable mental health resources through my school and community. In conclusion, my experience with mental health has been a challenging yet transformative journey that has influenced my beliefs, relationships, and career aspirations. It has taught me the importance of self-care, empathy, and seeking help when needed. While there are certainly challenges that come with mental health issues, I have also had positive experiences with the mental health industry and believe that seeking help for mental health issues should be normalized and encouraged.

As a lifelong resident of Amarillo, Texas, I have always felt a deep connection to the land. It has been my dream to use my knowledge of the Earth and its geological features to make a positive impact on the world. Growing up, I thought I wanted to paint the beauty around me but then I found out that the beauty was in danger. Now I want to learn all I can about the processes and features that shape our planet so I may one day protect that beauty. My dream of becoming a geologist began when I applied for Amarillo College and began taking classes in the field. Throughout my senior year, I have worked hard to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to become a geologist. I have taken many hours of class on the subject, learning about the complex processes and structures at work within the Earth. I have also researched the field, engaging in the mapping of geological formations. All of this has given me a thorough understanding of the science behind geology and its many applications. The city of Amarillo is a great place for me to pursue my career in geology. This part of the state has a rich geological history and is home to many fascinating geological sites. From the red sandstone of the Palo Duro Canyon to the ancient rocks of the Caprock Escarpment, Amarillo is a place where I can study and observe the geological features of the area. Additionally, as a Texan, I take great pride in giving back to the state and its people. My ultimate goal is to become a geologist and use my knowledge and skills to make a positive impact on the world. I plan to put my expertise to use by helping to prevent natural disasters and mitigate the effects of climate change. By understanding the processes at work on the Earth, I can help to develop plans and strategies to manage the land better, reduce environmental damage, and protect vital resources. Not everything has been easy though as I do have physical challenges. I lost my hearing in my right ear due to poor health in my youth. This uneven hearing loss, or single-sided deafness, has presented several challenges throughout my life. For one, it has made it difficult for me to locate and identify the direction of sounds To combat these issues, I have had to develop my own unique set of strategies. In school, I would always inform my teachers of my hearing loss and request to be seated at the side of the classroom where I could better hear their instructions. I also relied heavily on visual cues and lip-reading to compensate for my hearing difficulties (though I'm not very good at lip-reading). Over time, I became more adept at understanding important information from background noise and improving my focus in challenging auditory environments. I am deeply committed to achieving my dream of becoming a geologist and making a difference in the world. My passion for geology and my connection to Amarillo have given me the inspiration and motivation to pursue my career goals. I am confident that my knowledge and skills will be put to good use in helping to protect the Earth and improving the lives of people everywhere.

    Texas Women Empowerment Scholarship
Feminism is a movement that advocates for the social, political, and economic equality of the sexes. It seeks to eliminate gender-based discrimination and oppression and promote gender equity. Feminism is important because it aims to establish a world where all individuals, regardless of their gender, are treated fairly and given equal opportunities to succeed. Rosa Parks was an icon in the fight for civil rights and gender equality. She was a woman who refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white person, an act that sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott and helped to end racial segregation in the United States. Parks showed that women can be powerful agents of change and that their voices should be heard. Her bravery and commitment to justice have inspired me to stand up for what I believe in and fight for the rights of all individuals. Parks' impact on feminism is immeasurable. She was a symbol of hope to women everywhere, showing that they too can make a difference in the world. Her legacy has continued to inspire women to fight for gender equality and to challenge gender-based discrimination. I am contributing to the feminist movement in my community by educating myself and others about gender-based discrimination and inequality. I participate in feminist organizations and attend events that promote gender equity. I also use my voice to speak out against sexism and misogyny, both in my personal life and on social media. In my school, I have worked to establish a safe and inclusive environment for all students, regardless of their gender identity. I have advocated for the education of students and staff on issues related to gender and sexuality. Although I'm not the most feminine person as I don't wear a lot of feminine clothes, do my makeup, or enjoy stereotypically girly activities I'm just as much a woman as the people around me. Some people in my community don't see me as what I am because of this behavior and I've had to fight against that to be seen. That's why I am so inspired by woman athletes. In conclusion, feminism is an essential movement that seeks to promote gender equity and eliminate gender-based discrimination and oppression. Rosa Parks was a powerful advocate for civil rights and gender equality, and her legacy continues to inspire women to fight for justice. As an active participant in the feminist movement, I am committed to promoting gender equity and challenging gender-based discrimination in my community and school. Through my degree, I hope to gain attention and spread my concerns throughout the world.

Throughout history, society has often viewed individuals with disabilities or disadvantages as inferior and incapable of contributing to society. However, this perception is not only outdated but also harmful. Society must change how they see people with disabilities or disadvantages as they have the potential to achieve greatness and make valuable contributions to society. In this essay, I will explore the reasons why society should change its perception of individuals with disabilities or disadvantages. Firstly, individuals with disabilities or disadvantages should not be defined by their disability. Just because someone has a disability or disadvantage does not mean they are unable to achieve their goals or contribute to society. Many individuals with disabilities or disadvantages have overcome their challenges and achieved great success. For example, Stephen Hawking, who had ALS, was a renowned physicist who made significant contributions to the scientific community. By changing how we see individuals with disabilities or disadvantages, we can encourage them to pursue their goals and contribute to society. Secondly, society’s perception of individuals with disabilities or disadvantages often leads to discrimination and exclusion. This discrimination can occur in many areas of life, including education, employment, and social activities. For example, a person with a physical disability may struggle to find a job due to physical barriers in the workplace. By changing how we see individuals with disabilities or disadvantages, we can reduce discrimination and promote inclusion. This can lead to a more diverse and inclusive society where everyone is valued and able to contribute. Thirdly, individuals with disabilities or disadvantages often have unique perspectives and experiences that can benefit society. By excluding these individuals from society, we are missing out on their valuable contributions. For example, individuals with autism often have a unique ability to focus on details and patterns, which can be beneficial in fields such as science and technology. By changing how we see individuals with disabilities or disadvantages, we can embrace their unique perspectives and experiences, which can lead to innovation and progress. In conclusion, society should change how they see individuals with disabilities or disadvantages as it can have significant benefits for both individuals and society as a whole. By promoting inclusion, reducing discrimination, and embracing diversity, we can create a more equitable and prosperous society. We must recognize the potential of individuals with disabilities or disadvantages and provide them with the support and resources they need to succeed. By doing so, we can create a society that values and celebrates the contributions of all individuals, regardless of their abilities or disadvantages.

Poverty and homelessness are issues that affect millions of people worldwide. These problems can have a significant impact on individuals and families, leading to a range of challenges and obstacles that must be overcome. Over the years, I have witnessed firsthand the effects of poverty and homelessness on individuals and families, and these experiences have helped shape my mindset to overcome adversity. Growing up in a low-income household, I saw firsthand the struggles that my family faced. My parents worked hard to provide for us, but there were times when we struggled to make ends meet. Or struggle to put food on the table leaving us only to eat ramen or frozen burritos for dinner. Despite these challenges, my parents instilled in me a strong work ethic and a sense of determination that has helped me overcome numerous obstacles. I have also watched other families deal with homelessness and poverty. One was my next-door neighbor and a friend across the street. When they came over to play I always made them sandwiches as I knew this might be the first thing they've eaten today. I have seen families struggle to find food and shelter, and I have seen the toll that these experiences can take on individuals and families. Watching these families has helped me develop a deep sense of empathy and compassion for others, and it has motivated me to do what I can to make a difference in the lives of those who are struggling. One of the most important lessons that I have learned from my experiences with poverty and homelessness is the importance of resilience. When faced with adversity, it is easy to become discouraged and give up. However, I have seen firsthand that those who can persevere and remain resilient are more likely to overcome their challenges and achieve their goals. Another lesson that I have learned is the importance of community. When faced with difficult circumstances, it is important to have a support system of family, friends, and community members. This support system can provide emotional support, as well as practical assistance such as food, shelter, and financial assistance. Finally, my experiences with poverty and homelessness have taught me the importance of giving back. I believe that those who have been fortunate enough to overcome their challenges have a responsibility to help others who are struggling. Whether through volunteering, donating to charity, or simply offering a helping hand to those in need, we can all make a difference in the lives of others. In conclusion, my experiences with poverty and homelessness have had a profound impact on my mindset to overcome adversity. Through these experiences, I have learned the importance of resilience, community, and giving back. I believe that these lessons can be applied to any situation and that they can help us all overcome the challenges that we face in life. By working together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who are struggling, and create a brighter future for all.

    Taylor Swift ‘1989’ Fan Scholarship
As a top student and avid Taylor Swift fan, I have always found it difficult to choose a favorite song from her expansive discography. However, after much introspection, I can confidently say that "Shake it Off" from her "1989" album is my favorite from the collection. Not only is it a catchy and upbeat anthem, but it also holds a significant personal connection to my experiences with bullying. At first listen, "Shake it Off" may seem like a lighthearted and carefree tune. However, upon closer examination of the lyrics, one can see the underlying message of resilience and self-empowerment. Swift sings about shaking off the negativity and opinions of others and choosing to focus on oneself instead. This theme resonated deeply with me, as I have faced my fair share of bullying throughout my life. Growing up, I was often teased and ostracized for being different. Whether it was my interests, appearance, personality, or imagination there was always something that made me stand out from the crowd. This made me an easy target for bullies, who took pleasure in making me feel small and insignificant. However, "Shake it Off" taught me that I didn't have to let their words and actions define me. Instead, I could choose to rise above the negativity and embrace my unique qualities. Later in life more people got into dating culture and would often press others into getting romantic partners. I didn't think it was wise to get into relationships a such a young age so I refused. People spread rumors about me going after guys and being a massive cheater. Others said I was secretly lesbian and was staying closeted. People would come up to me and ask about my love life. One girl even tried to talk to me about her adult hobbies. The song talks about rumors Taylor had to endure and how she shook off them. It made me feel as though I could do the same. Furthermore, the song's music video also struck a chord with me. In it, Swift showcases a variety of dance styles and encourages viewers to join in and have fun. This message of inclusivity and positivity is something that I strive to embody in my own life. Rather than focusing on the differences that separate us, I believe in celebrating the things that make us unique and coming together in a spirit of unity. In conclusion, "Shake It Off" from Taylor Swift's "1989" album is my favorite song from the collection for its powerful message of self-empowerment and resilience. The lyrics and music video, it has helped me to overcome the negative effects of bullying and embrace my individuality. I am grateful to Taylor Swift for creating such a meaningful and impactful piece of art that has touched the lives of so many.

The journey through life is often marked by challenges that shape the individuals we become. Some of these challenges are external, such as financial or social hardships, while others are deeply rooted in our physical being. For me, these challenges have come in the form of two disabilities: deafness in one ear and eczema in my hands. Both have presented me with numerous obstacles, but through determination, perseverance, and support from my community, I have overcome these challenges and emerged stronger because of them. I lost my hearing in my right ear due to poor health in my youth. This unilateral hearing loss, or single-sided deafness, has presented several challenges throughout my life. For one, it has made it difficult for me to locate and identify the direction of sounds. This has created obstacles in everyday activities like crossing streets, engaging in conversation in noisy environments, and participating in group activities. To combat these issues, I have had to develop my own unique set of strategies. In school, I would always inform my teachers of my hearing loss and request to be seated at the side of the classroom where I could better hear their instructions. I also relied heavily on visual cues and lip-reading to compensate for my hearing difficulties. Over time, I became more adept at understanding important information from background noise and improving my focus in challenging auditory environments. In addition to my hearing loss, I have also struggled with eczema on my hands since 4 or 5 years ago. Eczema is a chronic skin condition characterized by dry, itchy, and inflamed skin, which leads to painful cracks and bleeding. This condition has made simple tasks like holding a pen, typing, or shaking hands painful and embarrassing. To overcome this obstacle, I have had to be proactive in my approach to eczema. This includes diligently following a skincare routine, minimizing exposure to potential allergens, and seeking medical advice. Wearing gloves that protect my hands from cuts and abrasions. I have also learned to embrace my eczema as part of who I am and not let it dictate my self-worth or limit my abilities. While personal determination and resilience have played a significant role in overcoming these obstacles, I also have come to know the importance of the support and understanding I have received from others. My family, friends, and teachers have all demonstrated empathy and patience in accommodating my needs, whether it be through simple gestures like repeating information or providing me with a quiet space to study. Many people have it much worse than I do but they still give it their all. They lead the world through their actions and inspire. I want to inspire you just as they have done to me. If I can be someone of interest to the world then I can use my voice to demonstrate the problems disabilities can cause and how they don't define us. In conclusion, overcoming the obstacles presented by my deafness and eczema has been a continuous process of self-advocacy, determination, and adaptability. Through the development of coping strategies, seeking support from others, and embracing my disabilities as a part of who I am, I have been able to face these challenges head-on and not let them hold me back from achieving my goals. My journey with these disabilities has not only made me stronger but has also instilled in me a deep sense of empathy and understanding toward others who face their unique challenges.

Table tennis has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. It is more than just a sport to me, it has become a crucial part of my life. Table tennis has taught me important lessons about myself and has helped me grow as an individual. In this essay, I will explain why I am passionate about table tennis and how it has played an integral role in my life. What first drew me to this sport was a game called Sports Champions on the PS3 Playstation Move. The system had a camera pointed at you while you moved a controller with a lit-up ball at the end. The controller in the game represented the paddle in the game. By far it was my favorite out of all the mini-games. I would spend hours trying to climb the ranks beating challenger after challenger. Later in life, I found out the game was in real life and was even professionally played. Firstly, table tennis is a sport that requires quick reflexes, hand-eye coordination, and strategic thinking. I was fascinated with the way the players were able to move and hit the ball with such speed and accuracy. As I began playing, I realized that table tennis was more than just a physical game. It required mental strength and focus, which challenged me to become a better player. Although I'm still not at the skill level I would like. I found myself constantly analyzing my opponent's moves and adjusting my strategy accordingly. Table tennis has not only helped me develop my physical and mental abilities, but it has also taught me important life lessons. One of the most important lessons is the value of hard work and perseverance. Table tennis is a difficult sport to master, and it requires hours of practice and dedication. There have been times when I have felt discouraged and wanted to give up, but I have learned to push through those challenges and keep striving for improvement. Another valuable lesson I have learned through table tennis is the importance of sportsmanship. In table tennis, it is crucial to show respect to your opponent, even if you are competing against them. I have learned to appreciate the effort and skill that goes into every match, regardless of the outcome. This has helped me develop a sense of empathy and understanding toward others, which has translated into my personal and professional life. In conclusion, table tennis has played an important part in my life, both as a sport and as a teacher. It has taught me important lessons about perseverance, sportsmanship, and mental strength. I am passionate about table tennis because it challenges me to be a better version of myself and has helped me grow both as an individual and as a player. I will continue to play and improve, always striving to be the best that I can be.

    Mental Health Importance Scholarship
Mental health is something people often overlook when in a stressful situation. Say you are preparing for a college exam and end up treating yourself poorly just to get a good grade. Or you put your mental health on the back burner to crank out a few more hours for a project. Maybe you simply treat yourself terribly to get a new high score on a video game. Whatever the case mental health is often overlooked but it is an important part of our biology. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It is very important for making choices in our lives like who our partner's going to be, what kind of job we want, but little decisions too like what we wear in the morning. It is very important to have good mental health so one way I do so is by eating a proper diet. Eating healthy is essential for a healthy lifestyle, and it has been proven to have positive effects on both physical and mental health. While it may not be easy to establish healthy eating habits, doing so can lead to a variety of health benefits that extend beyond improved physical health. The most obvious benefit of eating healthy is improved physical health. Eating healthy foods provides the body with essential nutrients that are needed to stay healthy. Eating a balanced diet can help to reduce the risk of developing chronic illnesses like heart disease, diabetes, and certain types of cancer. Eating a variety of foods from all of the food groups can also help to maintain a healthy weight, which can reduce the risk of developing obesity-related conditions. Eating healthy can also increase energy levels and improve physical performance, which can be helpful for athletes and those who exercise regularly. Eating healthy can also have a positive impact on mental health. Eating a balanced diet can help to reduce the risk of developing certain mental health conditions, such as depression and anxiety. Eating healthy can also help to improve cognitive functioning, which can help to enhance learning and memory. Additionally, eating healthy can help to reduce stress, which can lead to improved mood and overall well-being. Finally, it is important to note that eating healthy can also have a positive impact on social relationships. Eating healthy can help to reduce the risk of developing chronic illnesses, which can harm social relationships. Additionally, eating healthy can help to improve physical appearance and self-confidence, which can lead to better relationships with others. My family has a history of bad eating habits. My dad has diabetes and has to monitor his health by checking his blood with a reader. It comes from a lifetime of bad eating since he was a teenager. My dad's diagnosis made me realize my bad eating habits like skipping out on meals. That's why when I found out I committed myself to cooking healthy well balanced meals. I don't want any more of my family to fall victim to bad eating. In conclusion, eating healthy is essential for a healthy lifestyle. Eating healthy can lead to a variety of physical and mental health benefits, and it can also have a positive impact on social relationships. While it may not be easy to establish healthy eating habits, doing so can lead to a variety of health benefits that extend beyond improved physical health.

Another way I plan to raise awareness about domestic violence is by using my platform as an aspiring geologist to engage with the public. I will leverage my social media presence and public speaking opportunities to educate people about the impact of domestic violence on the environment and society. This will involve collaborating with advocacy groups, NGOs, and other stakeholders to create awareness campaigns that highlight the need to eradicate domestic violence. Furthermore, I plan to use my skills as an aspiring geologist to develop sustainable solutions to address domestic violence. For instance, I will work with local communities to create awareness about the importance of adopting sustainable practices that promote healthy relationships and reduce the risk of domestic violence. This could involve promoting the use of renewable energy, supporting local agriculture, and advocating for the protection of natural resources. In conclusion, as an aspiring geologist, I believe that I have a responsibility to use my skills and knowledge to make a positive impact on society. My goal is to raise awareness about domestic violence as a social and environmental issue and to promote sustainable solutions that will help eradicate it. By working together, we can create a safer, healthier, and more sustainable world for everyone.

Climate change is one of the most pressing environmental issues of our time, and we must take action to mitigate its damaging effects on our planet. Amarillo, TX is no exception. As an aspiring geologist, I believe that I can make a meaningful contribution to combating climate change in my area. My daily life has changed because of climate change. I now try to be aware of the carbon footprint I leave behind with every step. Trying to be more aware of it has been a challenge as it is hard to change habits in a society dependent on fossil fuels. I have gotten a job near my house so I can walk there instead of driving as it burns fuel, I research buyers to make sure they are eco-friendly, and I have been recycling older things to not waste products. But it is not enough we are still on our way to a bad end thus. My priority is to educate people about the impacts of climate change. The people of Amarillo need to understand the potential consequences of climate change and the importance of taking action to reduce its effects. By speaking to community groups, providing educational materials, and writing articles, I can help spread the word about the need to act on climate change. The second way I strive to fight climate change is through my future research. As an aspiring geologist, I am uniquely positioned to study the effects of climate change on the environment and assess the potential impacts of climate change in my area. By studying the changes in the climate of Amarillo over time, I can help to identify ways to reduce the impacts of climate change. Through my work, I can provide valuable data and insight to local policymakers to help them craft effective climate change policies. Not only would I be making way for new policies but I could research natural events such as mudslides. This is to prevent people from dying needlessly due to climate change. Studies show that 3.4 million people die from climate change every year. Rising global temperatures cause weather around the world to change dramatically. Places that used to be cold are now hot. Specifically, Amarillo has been in severe drought for many years now. Lastly, I strive to become a role model for others in my field. By actively participating in climate change initiatives and advocating for sustainable practices, I can inspire other geologists to take action to combat climate change. By setting an example for my peers, I can help to amplify the fight against climate change and ensure that my efforts have a larger reach. These are the most impactful ways I can combat climate change in Amarillo, TX. By educating the public, conducting research, and setting an example, I can help to make a difference and contribute to a healthier planet. I am determined to be part of the solution to climate change and will continue to use my expertise as a geologist to do my part.

A few years ago I started losing hearing in one ear. It started when I was very young and had constant ear infections that would be so painful that I couldn't sleep at night. Sometimes I would hear constant ringing and screeches until one day I didn't hear anything at all. Sometimes it comes back but it's usually painful. This unilateral hearing loss, or single-sided deafness, has presented several challenges. For one, it has made it difficult for me to localize and identify the direction of sounds. This has created obstacles in everyday activities like crossing streets, conversing in noisy environments, and participating in group activities. To combat these issues, I have had to develop my own unique set of strategies. In school, I would always inform my teachers of my hearing loss and request them to repeat phrases or speak louder in my direction. I also relied heavily on visual cues and lip-reading to compensate for my hearing difficulties. Over time, I became more adept at discerning important information from background noise and improving my focus in challenging auditory environments. In addition to my hearing loss, I have also struggled with eczema on my hands since 3 or 4 years ago. Eczema is a chronic skin condition characterized by dry, itchy, and inflamed skin, which can sometimes lead to painful cracks and bleeding. This condition has made simple tasks like holding a pen, typing, or shaking hands painful, uncomfortable, and embarrassing. To overcome this obstacle, I have had to be proactive in my approach to managing my eczema. This includes diligently following a skincare routine, minimizing exposure to potential allergens, and seeking medical advice when needed. I have also learned to embrace my eczema as part of who I am and not let it dictate my self-worth or limit my abilities. I would often get cuts from things that wouldn't normally cut the skin. Not only that the cuts wouldn't heal for a long time. This has led me to wear gloves anytime I go out. Touching object like door handles with open wounds is a great way to get an infection. Now I own many pairs of gloves. While personal determination and resilience have played a significant role in overcoming these obstacles, I also acknowledge the importance of the support and understanding I have received from others. My family, friends, and teachers have all demonstrated empathy and patience in accommodating my needs, whether it be through simple gestures like repeating information or providing me with a quiet space to study. My journey with these disabilities has not only made me stronger. Still, it has also instilled in me a deep sense of empathy and understanding toward others who face their unique challenges.

Math has been a source of fascination and challenge for me since I was a young child. Mathematics can unlock the mysteries of the universe, provide answers to difficult questions, and offer insight into the world that is often overlooked. At its core, mathematics is a means to understand the world around us. It helps us quantify and measure the things that we come across in everyday life, from the distance from one place to another to the number of items we can purchase at the store, to the amount of money kept in a bank account. Math allows us to make sense of the seemingly random and chaotic world, and to make informed decisions about the future. In addition to this practical use, math also offers opportunities for creativity and exploration. From the basics of algebra and geometry to the complex calculations of calculus, math offers us a playground of intellectual exploration. By applying different methods and approaches to a problem, we can discover new and exciting ways of looking at an issue. Math also allows us to entertain possibilities and consider alternative solutions. One of the greatest things about math is that it can be used to help us understand the world more deeply. As Albert Einstein once said, “Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas.” Math can help us to learn more about the structure of our universe, from the smallest particles to the largest galaxies, as well as discover the hidden relationships between different things. Math also provides us with countless opportunities for critical thinking. It encourages us to examine data, question assumptions, and come to our conclusions. By taking the time to think through a problem and understand the principles behind it, we can develop our thinking skills and become more adept at spotting patterns and understanding complex concepts. So it's no wonder why calculus is important to STEM The field of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Calculus has been a breeding ground of innovation big or small. It has led us to understand the movement of bodies in space, weather, electrical circuits, and more. It is used in almost every science like chemistry, economics, engineering, biology, dynamic systems, and physics just to name a few. STEM has so many great opportunities to learn and do more it's not just calculus that excites me but an array of career paths and opportunities that are diverse, challenging, and dynamic. It is an ever-evolving field that is constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible and inspiring innovation.

In recent years, the alarming rise in gun violence, particularly in schools, has forced educational institutions across the United States to adopt lockdown drills as a standard safety measure. As a student, I have experienced a multitude of these drills and have reflected on their effectiveness in preparing me for the possibility of real gun violence. Coupled with my aspirations of a career in geology and extracurricular involvement in table tennis, I aim to contribute towards raising awareness about gun violence and promoting a safe and secure environment for all. Lockdown drills have been a crucial component of my educational experience, as they have played an essential role in heightening my awareness of the potential dangers associated with gun violence. These drills have taught me the importance of remaining calm and collected during a crisis, as well as the necessity of having a strategic plan in place to respond to emergencies. By participating in these drills, I have become familiar with the various procedures and protocols in place to protect students and staff during an active shooter situation. This has helped me in a situation where an active shooter was at my school. Nobody got hurt because of these drills. Moving forward, I plan to leverage my career as a geologist to bring awareness to gun violence and contribute to the ongoing efforts of creating safer communities. As a geologist, I will be in a unique position to analyze the impact of gun violence on the environment, including the effects of lead contamination from bullets on soil, water, and air quality. By conducting research in this area, I hope to shed light on the broader implications of gun violence, further emphasizing the need for comprehensive solutions to this pressing issue. Additionally, I intend to use my platform as a geologist to advocate for stricter gun control laws and support organizations that promote responsible gun ownership. By engaging in public speaking events, writing articles, and using social media, I will strive to raise awareness about the importance of addressing gun violence from both an environmental and public safety perspective. In doing so, I aim to inspire others within the scientific community to join in these efforts and contribute their expertise toward finding innovative solutions to combat gun violence. My extracurricular involvement in table tennis has also played a significant role in shaping my approach to dealing with gun violence. As a table tennis player, I have developed a strong sense of discipline, focus, and determination – qualities that are essential in responding to complex challenges, such as gun violence. Moreover, table tennis has provided me with a platform to connect with a diverse group of individuals, allowing me to engage in meaningful conversations about gun violence and its impact on our communities. In conclusion, lockdown drills have been instrumental in preparing me for the possibility of real gun violence, and I am committed to using my future career as a geologist and involvement in table tennis to raise awareness and contribute to efforts aimed at reducing gun violence. By combining these seemingly unrelated aspects of my life, I strive to make a meaningful impact on this pressing issue and help create a safer, more harmonious world for future generations.

I thought going to college was nothing but a pipe dream only meant for those with money and status. I hope that if I win this scholarship I can pay back my debts and get my dream job. A time when I felt emotional weakness was back in 5th grade when I left orchestra. I loved music and wanted to be just like the people on my CDs. I signed up for orchestra classes and picked out the viola. I played many songs but one mistake loomed over me with snarling glee. Even when there weren’t any double stops in the music I always played them. It didn’t matter how hard I tried to correct this habit, it always came back. But at least I had my instrument. It seemed that I always forgot it. In those days I’d shadow-play the violin. Despite this, I still did well on tests and even got to go to the big concert. I felt proud of myself but soon that would be crushed. One day I walked in and everyone was crowding around the stage. I saw people getting ready for a photoshoot. I asked the teacher and he said that the photo was for the yearbook. He said to get my instrument but I had forgotten it. He said I couldn't be in it without my viola. I was told to go behind the curtain. I started to cry I wasn’t in the picture it felt like none of my hard work meant anything. That’s when I made up my mind I wasn’t coming back next year. I made excuses like "It’s the teacher he just doesn’t have the teaching style I like." It was all to hide from myself. I didn’t want to admit that I was leaving because I was disappointed in myself. My brother joined the orchestra over at elementary school. By then I hadn’t realized the hole I had left until I saw him lugging around his cello. It hurt to watch him play because it made me realize how much I had missed it. It made me realize that I was too hard on myself I truly enjoyed orchestra. I’m not perfect nobody is. I’m never going to be the best. I’ve made my peace with that. I made a promise to myself that when I’m older and have money I’ll go out and buy my viola again. I don't want to live with regrets that's why I'm going to go to college and get my dream. I don't want to have to go into debt and regret everything that's why I need scholarships. I won't give up.

My dream of becoming a geologist began when I applied for Amarillo College and I will start taking classes in the field. My family had to face the adversity of addiction. As someone with indirect experience with alcohol addiction, I am deeply aware of the far-reaching and often devastating impact it can have on not just the addict, but their family, friends, and the wider community. My experience has shaped my beliefs, relationships, and career aspirations in many ways. The most significant impact of my experience with alcohol addiction on my beliefs is that I now have an understanding of the complexity of the issue. I realize that addiction is a multifaceted problem and that there is no single solution. It requires a holistic approach that considers the social, psychological, and economic factors that can lead to addiction. This understanding has led me to become an advocate for greater access to treatment, support, and resources for those affected by addiction. My relationships have also been affected by my experience with alcohol addiction. I am now more aware of the importance of having meaningful relationships and the impact of addiction on those relationships. I have seen firsthand how addiction can strain relationships and I am more conscious of the need to nurture and take care of those around me. This has led me to become more empathetic and understanding of those around me and has made me more resilient in the face of personal struggles. One relationship that was severely impacted by alcohol was my relationship with my dad. For a long time my father battled alcohol addiction although he is much better now I remember some nights I would be afraid to go to bed. Our relationship was strained; on one hand, I loved my dad for the charismatic and joyful guy he was on the other I was scared of his attitude and power while drunk. He would verbally abuse people saying things that should never be said. Lastly, my experience with addiction has shaped my career aspirations. For a long time I had doubted myself this was mostly because of the pestering by my dad. He would talk about my lack of skill and how I couldn't compete in a competitive market which made me doubt myself. I changed dream jobs often and just couldn't stick to anything. Eventually, my dad got better and he helped me get better. Now I know where I'm going and our bond is that much stronger.

    Maggie's Way- International Woman’s Scholarship
Malgorzata "Maggie" Kwiecien's journey to becoming a successful runner and STEM professional resonates with many individuals. As a top student, I have researched the challenges she faced and found ways in which I can relate to her experiences. In this essay, I will discuss these challenges and how they have influenced my pursuit of running and STEM. Maggie Kwiecien was born in Poland and immigrated to the United States at the age of five. Despite her love for running, she faced numerous barriers, including a lack of financial resources and access to proper training facilities. Similarly, as a kid who grew up in the inner city, I have experienced financial constraints that have limited my ability to access training facilities and equipment. However, like Maggie, I have not allowed these challenges to deter me from my passion for running and STEM. Maggie's perseverance and determination to succeed in both running and STEM fields have inspired me to push past my limitations. As a student in the STEM field, I have faced numerous roadblocks, including a career change halfway through my high school career, which has made it difficult to properly understand and connect with the field. However, Maggie's resilience and success as a STEM professional have shown me that despite the obstacles, it is possible to achieve success. Moreover, Maggie's success in running has shown me the importance of discipline and hard work in achieving one's goals. As a student who enjoys doing athletics as a hobby, I have learned that success in running requires consistency in training, proper nutrition, and rest. Similarly, success in STEM requires discipline and hard work in studying and applying concepts. I know the road ahead is hard and will be likely filled with sleepless nights but I can see the future for the first time in a long time. I'm sure Maggie felt astray sometimes and had to pick up the pieces. Well, so can I do one piece at a time. I only have one place to go. In conclusion, Maggie Kwiecien's journey to success in both running and STEM is an inspiration to many, including myself. Her challenges have shown me that perseverance, determination, and hard work are key to achieving success in any field. As a top student, I will continue to pursue my passion for running and STEM with the same level of discipline and perseverance that Maggie exhibited in her journey to success.

This is to prevent people from dying needlessly due to climate change. Studies show that 3.4 million people die from climate change every year. Rising global temperatures cause weather around the world to change dramatically. Places that used to be cold are now hot. Specifically, Amarillo has been in severe drought for many years now. 3. I require this money as I am a lower-income student who lives in the inner city. Going into a science major requires a proper fund to pay for all the required necessities like textbooks or tuition. Even a small amount of scholarship money would go a long way in my journey. 4. I plan to pay for my education by getting grants and scholarships, saving up money from part-time work, and using the college fund my parents have saved up. It's preferable not to go into debt but if I have to a subsidized loan from the government would be acceptable. I hope to get into as little debt as possible for I know how much it can a person's life. 5. My family has been into heavy metal before I was even born. It was practically a lullaby for me as a baby. It has led me to get into many different forms of music such as indie rock. My dad in particular likes foreign rock bands from places like Korea, Sweden, and Germany. This has led me to learn different languages. My mom likes more Northern American bands like ones coming from New York or Boston. Although it's not specifically heavy metal Ghost is a great band that has led me to a greater understanding of Christian culture.

In conclusion, my experience with alcohol addiction has had a profound effect on my beliefs, relationships, and career aspirations. It has taught me the importance of understanding the complexity of addiction and of having meaningful relationships. It has also led me to pursue a career I am passionate about with the full support of my family particularly my father.

Growing up in the inner city of Amarillo, Texas, was a unique experience that has shaped my life in countless ways. The challenges that I have faced living in this area have been immense, but they have also taught me valuable lessons that have helped me to overcome adversity and achieve success. I once had a neighbor whom I was friends with I was about seven when I started hanging out with her kid. It was clear when I entered her home for the first time that we lived in entirely different worlds. Despite living in the inner city my street is filled with elderly people meaning that my street was more quiet compared to my cousins. So when I walked into that room it hit me for the first time. Poverty. I've never thought of myself as poor but the similarities between her house and mine were astonishing. The cracked walls the dishes piled up the cheap chairs and a mother hard at work in the kitchen. When I looked into her eyes I saw a lifetime of pain. I couldn't help but think of my own family and our struggles. A few months later a police car came to their house and I never saw them again. I still wonder what happened. One of the most significant challenges of growing up in the inner city was the prevalence of poverty and crime. Many of my neighbors struggled to make ends meet, and I often saw firsthand the devastating effects of drug abuse and violence. These issues could be overwhelming at times, and it was difficult to avoid becoming desensitized to them. Despite these challenges, I was fortunate to have a supportive family that instilled in me the values of hard work and perseverance. My parents always encouraged me to pursue my dreams, even when it seemed like the odds were stacked against me. They reminded me that I had the power to make a difference in my community and encouraged me to get involved in local organizations and volunteer work. One of the ways that I have overcome these challenges is by focusing on my education. I knew that a good education was my ticket out of poverty and that it would be essential for me to achieve my goals. I worked hard in school, taking advantage of every opportunity to learn and grow. I also sought out mentors and role models who could provide guidance and support as I navigated the challenges of growing up in the inner city. Another way that I have overcome these challenges is by staying involved in my community. I work at the local grocery store they work to improve the lives of inner-city residents, and I participate in community events and initiatives. By staying connected to my community, I can give back in meaningful ways and make a positive impact on the lives of those around me. In conclusion, growing up in the inner city of Amarillo, Texas, was a challenging but rewarding experience. While poverty and crime were prevalent, I was fortunate to have a supportive family that instilled in me the values of hard work and perseverance. By focusing on my education and staying involved in my community, I have been able to overcome these challenges and achieve success. I am grateful for the lessons that I have learned along the way, and I am committed to continuing to make a difference in my community.

Although I'm not the most feminine person as I do not wear a lot of feminine clothes, do my makeup, or enjoy stereotypically girly activities I'm just as much a woman as the people around me.

The universe is an incredible and mysterious place. By better understanding the nature of our universe, we can unlock its secrets and gain a deeper understanding of our place in it. To do this, we must first acknowledge the complexity of our universe and the immense scope of knowledge we have yet to discover. Not only does this knowledge provide us with the tools to better understand our universe, but it also helps us to appreciate its beauty and grandeur. At its core, our universe is an incredibly intricate and dynamic system. To better understand it, we must first understand the forces that shape it, such as gravity, electromagnetism, and the strong and weak nuclear forces. By understanding these forces, we can gain insight into how the universe operates and how its components interact. We can then use this knowledge to develop theories and models that accurately predict the behavior of our universe. In addition to understanding the forces that govern our universe, we must also better understand the particles that compose it. By studying the properties of these particles, we can gain a better understanding of how they interact and what effects they have on the universe. We can then use this knowledge to develop theories and models that accurately describe the behavior of our universe. We must also strive to gain a better understanding of the structure of our universe. By studying the distribution of galaxies, stars, and other structures in our universe, we can gain an understanding of how our universe evolved and what role it plays in our lives. This knowledge can then be used to develop theories and models that accurately describe the behavior of our universe. Finally, we must strive to gain a better understanding of the laws of nature that govern our universe. By studying the properties of matter and energy, we can gain an understanding of how they interact and how they affect our universe. We can then use this knowledge to develop theories and models that accurately describe the behavior of our universe. I also strive to learn about the universe on my way through geology. The first step for me at least is understanding the place we live before moving outward into the great unknown of the universe. Understanding how our planet formed, why we have moons, and what causes the planet to cool are excellent starting points. In conclusion, we must strive to better understand the nature of our universe. By studying the forces that govern it, the particles that compose it, the structure of its galaxies and stars, and the laws of nature that govern it, we can gain a better understanding of our place in the universe and how it affects us. By doing so, we can use this knowledge to develop theories and models that accurately describe the behavior of our universe.

    Scorenavigator Financial Literacy Scholarship
My experience with finances is one of surprise. I never knew that my family was poor when I was younger I thought we were well off. But thinking back on it the many talks with my mother before entering a grocery story that she couldn't buy me anything should have tipped me off. Or when she would make us ramen for dinner. Now I am quite stingy with my money I'm always looking for chances to save it. This has led me to make budgets. As a student, managing your finances is an important part of navigating college life. From tuition and housing to food and entertainment, having a budget and sticking to it is essential for making sure you can afford all the necessary expenses of college. By managing your finances well, you can avoid unnecessary debt and help ensure you have enough money to cover your basic needs. My Dollars and Cents taught Mrs. Thomas stressed the importance of having a budget, especially at such a vulnerable time in life. She taught us several budgeting strategies. Like the envelope method, pay yourself first, 0-based method, value-based method, sub-savings account, and the low-income method. All of these were fine but my favorite was the 50-30-20 rule. One of the best ways to manage your finances as a student is by splitting your budget into three categories. This method, known as the 50-30-20 rule, allows you to budget your money in a way that helps you achieve both short-term and long-term financial goals. The 50-30-20 rule suggests that you should allocate 50 percent of your budget toward necessities, 30 percent towards discretionary spending, and 20 percent towards savings and debt repayment. The 50 percent of your budget dedicated to necessities includes items like tuition, rent, and groceries. This portion of your budget should be your priority as it covers the essentials of college life. The 30 percent of your budget devoted to discretionary spending can be used for things like entertainment and travel. This allows you to enjoy college life without going overboard and spending too much. Lastly, the 20 percent that should be allocated towards savings and debt repayment is essential for helping you build up an emergency fund and paying off any loans you may have taken out. For a long time I had doubted myself this was mostly because of the pestering my dad. He would talk about my lack of skill and how I couldn't compete in a competitive market which made me doubt myself. I changed dream jobs often and just couldn't stick to anything. Eventually, my dad got better and he helped me get better. Now I know where I'm going and our bond is that much stronger.

"Music is the wine that fills the cup of silence" - Unknown. I have always loved music ever since I was a little girl. One of the many dreams I had growing up was being a musician along with a teacher, an alien, and a celebrity. I found life was much more entertaining with music vibrating in the air. I wanted to be just like the people who played my favorite songs. I had a CD player that played wondrous music. I thought maybe I could play one of the songs on there. I fantasized about playing for my family or on a stage in front of cheering crowds all crying my name. I signed up for orchestra classes and picked out the viola to play. It was known as the alto voice of the orchestra family. I played a mass of songs but one recurring mistake loomed over me with snarling glee. Even when there weren’t any double stops on the music sheet I always played them. It didn’t matter how hard I tried to correct this habit, it always came back. But then a least I had my instrument. It seemed that I always forgot it meaning I couldn't play with everyone. He said to get my instrument but as usual, I had forgotten it. "Could I still be in the photo even if I don’t have an instrument?" "No." I was told to go behind the curtain so the camera couldn't see me. I heard the sounds of everyone taking the photo. I started to cry I wasn’t in the picture it felt like I wasn’t recognized and that none of my hard work meant anything. Even if I didn’t realize it then that’s when I made up my mind. I wasn’t coming back next year. I had justified to myself why I was leaving. It’s the teacher he just doesn’t have the teaching style I like. It was all to hide from myself. I didn’t want to admit that I was leaving because I was disappointed in myself. Though I had given up on orchestra my passion for music didn't die. I had signed up for choir. I learned a lot in the choir. I learned to read the music sheets and memorize songs. It was fun but I didn’t care about choir as much as I did orchestra. I went to the orchestra concert but I didn't go to the choir concert. The following year I left choir. And fill the cup of silence with the wine of music.

The diagnosis of cancer is an incredibly difficult experience, and it can be especially daunting to face it during a global pandemic. When my aunt was diagnosed with cancer right before the pandemic started, it was a shock to my entire family. We had to find a way to process the diagnosis while also navigating the new rules and regulations of the pandemic. It has been a trying experience, and it has had a profound impact on my beliefs, relationships, and career aspirations. My aunt’s diagnosis has made me realize the importance of quality time with loved ones. Before the pandemic, I would visit her often, even if it was just to sit and talk with her. But once the pandemic started, I had to find different ways to stay connected with her. I began sending her cards and care packages with little gifts and messages of support. I also made an effort to call her more often, and I tried to make sure she always knew how much I cared about her. This experience has shown me the importance of cherishing the time I have with my loved ones, and it has made me realize that I need to make more of an effort to consistently reach out to them. My aunt’s diagnosis has also made me more aware of the fragility of life. Before this experience, I tended to take my loved ones for granted and focus on my own needs and goals. But now, I have a much greater appreciation for the time I have with them. I have been more intentional about spending quality time with my family, even if it is just a phone call or a video chat. I also make sure that I let them know how much I appreciate everything they do for me. In terms of my career aspirations, my aunt’s diagnosis has made me realize that I want to make an impact with my work. I want to be able to use my skills and abilities to make a difference and help people. I am now looking for opportunities to volunteer and use my skills to make a difference in my community. Even if it's not cancer research I still want to help people who are in dire need of help. I want to help people with natural disaster prevention. I want to use my skills and abilities to make a positive impact in the world, and I hope to honor my aunt’s memory by doing so. My aunt’s diagnosis has had a profound impact on my beliefs, relationships, and career aspirations. It has made me realize the importance of cherishing the time I have with my loved ones and taking advantage of every opportunity to make a positive impact. I am now more intentional about spending time with my family, and I am actively looking for ways to make an impact on my work. Financial Literacy Importance Scholarship
My Dollars and Cents teach Mrs. This portion of your budget should be your priority as it covers the necessities of college life. To manage my finances well, I use the 50-30-20 rule to divide my budget into three categories. I make sure to prioritize the 50 percent of my budget dedicated to necessities and use the remaining 70 percent to save and spend responsibly. As an American, I am proud to uphold the values of freedom and individualism that our country was founded on. The United States is a vibrant, diverse nation that is home to people of all backgrounds and beliefs. From the Pilgrims who came to America in search of religious freedom to the immigrants who are still coming to America to seek a better life, the United States has long been a place that embraces freedom and individualism. In my view, being an American means honoring the values of freedom and individualism. It means respecting the rights of all people to express their ideas and beliefs, regardless of whether those views agree with mine. It also means standing up for the rights of those who have been marginalized or treated unfairly. Whether it is through civil rights activism or simply protesting peacefully, I believe that all Americans should strive to fight for justice and equality. Being an American also means standing up for the rule of law and the Constitution. Our laws and rights provide us with stability and security, and it is our responsibility to ensure that these laws are enforced and respected. This means that we must protect the rights of those who are unable to speak for themselves, such as immigrants and refugees. We must also ensure that the legal system is fair and impartial and that the rights of all Americans are respected. In addition to upholding the values of freedom and individualism, being an American means appreciating the rich history of our country. From the Declaration of Independence to the civil rights movement, our history is filled with moments of progress and courage. It is important to remember the struggles and sacrifices of those who fought for our rights. By understanding our history, we can learn from the mistakes of the past and create a better future for all Americans. But the thing is I'm not just an American I'm also a proud Texan born and raised. I not only hold the values and experiences of an American but also that of the lone star state. Pride is a birthright here. I may not wear boots or a ten-gallon hat as some stereotypes may tell you but I do love barbeques as much as the next Texan. I feel that screams freedom to me, seeing my family's faces lit up by a grill, discussing recipes laughing over a can of beer, and kids screaming and playing in the horseshoe pit. Ultimately, being an American means that I have the privilege of living in one of the greatest countries in the world. By upholding the values of freedom and individualism, I can help ensure that future generations of Americans can continue to enjoy the same rights and freedoms that I do. I am proud to be an American and to stand for the values that make our nation so great.

An art that I am passionate about is fine arts I love trying out different mediums and ideas within it. I find it fulfilling to try out new things like micro-pens or watercolor paintings. But art isn't just the ink on paper it can also be felt and heard and come with a message; that's why I love movies. There isn't just art but music and voice direction. One movie made quite an impact on me. How to Train Your Dragon has been a significant part of my life for many years. I first watched the movie when I was only seven years old, and it has provided me with several valuable lessons and experiences ever since. The lessons I have learned from How to Train Your Dragon are invaluable. The movie taught me that courage and determination are key to achieving your goals. No matter how scared or overwhelmed I may feel, I can always conquer my fears and succeed if I put in the hard work and effort. The movie also emphasizes the importance of friendship and loyalty, showing me that the right people can help us reach our full potential. I also appreciate the incredible visuals and stunning animation of How to Train Your Dragon. The movie’s visuals have inspired me to explore and appreciate the beauty of nature. I now make it a point to go outside and appreciate nature’s beauty whenever I can. The movie has also inspired me to draw and create art. The vivid and intricate animations have pushed me to hone my art skills and create my works of art. Finally, How to Train Your Dragon has helped me to understand and appreciate the importance of family. The movie demonstrates that family is not just about blood relations, but also about those we choose to call family. It has taught me that family is about the love, acceptance, and support we share. There is a scene in the movie where the main character Hiccup and his father Stoick the vast fight. They don't agree on what should be done about the dragons' Hiccup believes it is good in them but Stoick believes they are monsters. They don't respect each other's way of life. It mirrors my own life for a long time I didn't get along with my father. Later they made up and tried to understand each other. They listened to each other it made me realize that I could make my relationship with my dad better. And in the end, I did. All in all, How to Train Your Dragon has had a tremendous impact on my life. The movie has provided me with valuable life lessons, encouraged me to explore and appreciate nature, and helped me to understand the importance of family. I am grateful for the impact this movie has had on my life, and I will continue to cherish the lessons it has taught me.

I once for a school project had to write a children's book. It was filled with images I drew. Although the book is gone now I still have the script I used to make the book. The Crow and The Dove By: Kaori Glisson Corvus is a crow and Cleave is a dove. They are friends. Corvus is very shy while Cleave is very bold. Corvus wanted to be more and do more but he was too shy to stand in front of people. Corvus told this to his friend Cleave who thought for a while until he said “I have an idea, why don’t you come work for the magician with me.” Cleave worked for a magician who did tricks with birds. Corvus didn’t think he could do it all those people staring at him but Cleave seemed like he wanted to help so Corvus said “Yes.” Cleave started showing Corvus how to do a trick. Cleave picked out the trick because it was very simple to do. Corvus worked hard but he was still nervous about the crowd. Cleave gave him advice on how to deal with the crowd “When you are on stage think of something silly.” He thought for a second, “Like saying the crowd is not a crowd it is a pumpkin patch.” Corvus wasn’t convinced. “What if that doesn’t work?” Cleave said, “if it comes down to that then look at me I’ll be on stage with you.” Corvus calmed down a little. His friend would be there for him. Soon came time for the show Corvus worked hard on perfecting the trick. Corvus snuck into the magician's sleeve ahead of the other bird. Cleave crawled into their other sleeve. They stayed there for some time as the magician performed the show. The magician kept swinging around his arms and Corvus became a little sick. But Corvus had trained for this and huddled up small. Soon it was time he waited for his cue. The magician had hidden flash paper on his hands when he snapped it would cause an explosion. That was the cue Corvus flew out and landed on his arm. The magician eyed him. To the crowd, it seemed like he popped out of thin air. He looked out to the crowd; they were in awe, all of them looking at him. Corvus started to freak out but then remembered the pumpkin patch they were pumpkins he looked over at Cleave on the other arm he looked back at him. Boldly they both fluttered their wings. The show was over. Corvus had stayed in front of the crowd and he loved it. Cleave asked, “how was it?” Corvus said, “could I do that again?” Cleave looked over at the magician who smiled back at them as if to say “Yes.”

Math has been a source of fascination and challenge for me since I was a young child. Mathematics can unlock the mysteries of the universe, provide answers to difficult questions, and offer insight into the world that is often overlooked. In addition to maths practical use, math also offers opportunities for creativity and exploration. But not only is math itself a fun medium it has also led me to make connections with my classmates. I ended up helping my neighbors with problems which led me to make connections with not only math but the people around me. I have become better at communication and endeavor to be a great friend. For me, the beauty of math is that it is never boring. It's always changing and evolving, offering an infinite number of puzzles to solve. There's always something new to discover, something that can challenge and surprise us. I love learning math because it is an adventure, offering new insights and perspectives with every new problem I solve. It's like a never-ending puzzle, with so many different ways to solve it. It has led me to so much more than what is on the page. Math is truly infinite.

    1. My dream of becoming a geologist began when I applied for Amarillo College and will begin taking classes in the field. 2. The field of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) excites me for numerous reasons. STEM offers an array of career paths and opportunities that are diverse, challenging, and dynamic. It is an ever-evolving field that is constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible and inspiring innovation. Additionally, STEM offers the chance for me to make a positive impact in the world. As a geologist, I can use my knowledge and skills to contribute to the development of renewable energy sources, help communities adapt to changing climates, and protect the environment. The need for sustainable energy sources is an increasingly pressing issue. Geologists have a unique opportunity to help develop and manage renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and geothermal. Geologists can also help identify and map areas with potential for energy production and provide insight into the environmental impacts of energy production. Moreover, geologists can help communities assess their vulnerability to natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, and tsunamis, and can provide advice on how to mitigate the effects of these events. The climate is also changing rapidly, and geologists can play an important role in helping communities to adapt. Geologists can help assess the potential impacts of climate change on a given area, identify areas at risk of flooding or landslides, and suggest strategies for managing and adapting to these risks. Geologists can also help to develop and implement strategies to protect vulnerable areas and populations from the effects of climate change. I am excited about the potential to make a positive impact on the environment. As a geologist, I can use my knowledge and skills to help protect water resources, study the effects of climate change on ecosystems, and monitor hazardous waste sites. I can also help identify areas for conservation and suggest strategies for protecting valuable ecosystems. 3. And fill the cup of silence with the wine of music.

Mathematics can unlock the mysteries of the universe, provide answers to difficult questions, and offer insight into the world that is often overlooked. At its core, mathematics is a means to understand the world around us. The vivid and intricate animations have pushed me to hone my art skills and create my own works of art. Finally, How to Train Your Dragon has helped me to understand and appreciate the importance of family. The movie demonstrates that family is not just about blood relations, but also about those we choose to call family. It has taught me that family is about the love, acceptance, and support we share with one another. There is a scene in the movie where the main character Hiccup and his father Stoick the vast have a fight. They don't agree on what should be done about the dragons' Hiccup believes it is good in them but Stoick believes they are monsters. They don't respect each other's way of life. It mirrors my own life for a long time I didn't get along with my own father.

My Middle School English teacher, Mrs. Coleman, has been an incredible source of inspiration for me. She has taught me that I am worth the effort and that I can accomplish anything I set my mind to. When I first entered Mrs. Coleman's class, I didn't care to keep up with the lessons. I was making average grades and that was enough for me. I was ready to give up and accept that I was not cut out for English. However, Mrs. Coleman saw potential in me and she never gave up on me. She pushed me to be better and to strive for excellence in all my work. One of the most memorable moments of my time in Mrs. Coleman's class was when I was covering my ears and she came to check on me. I have always had bad hearing, when I was little I kept getting ear infections in one ear. It was especially bad during middle school loud noises would make my ears ring and cause me so much pain. That day I couldn't listen to her lesson because the kids were acting rowdy and being loud. My ears hurt so much that I couldn't pay attention. Mrs. Coleman took the extra time to sit down with me and explain the lesson in an easy-to-understand way. She saw the confusion on my face and dedicated her time to helping me. After I explained my situation she gave me headphones so the noises wouldn't bother me as much. At that time the teachers thought I was faking it to avoid work one even sent me to the principles office for it. But she believed me and even went out of her way to help me. Mrs. Coleman has also been a source of motivation for me. Every day in class she would make sure to tell me that my work was amazing and that I was capable of anything I put my mind to. She always had encouraging words for me, no matter how small or insignificant the task was. For one of the first times in my life, I felt seen. This helped me believe in myself and gave me the confidence I needed to succeed. Mrs. Coleman has taught me the importance of never giving up and believing in myself. She has shown me that I am worth the effort and that I can accomplish anything I set my mind to. I am extremely grateful for all the time and effort she has dedicated to helping me become a better student.

Creating something to solve a problem is a noble endeavor, one that I have personally pursued when I noticed an issue that I felt needed to be addressed. I believe that creating something to solve a problem is a great way to make the world a better place and to help those in need. The problem I have chosen to tackle is the lack of access to clean and safe drinking water in developing countries. Many people in these countries do not have access to clean water, and this is a major contributing factor to the spread of diseases and death. My idea to solve this problem is to create a water filtration and purification system that could be used in these countries. The system would be designed to be both portable and affordable, allowing it to be used in remote villages and other areas that are not easily accessible. The system would be powered by solar panels, allowing it to be used in areas where there is no electricity. The system would be made up of several components. The first component is a water filter that would remove any chemical contaminants, such as chlorine, fluoride, and other toxins. This would ensure that the water is safe to drink. The second component is an ultraviolet light that would be used to sterilize the water and kill any harmful bacteria and viruses. The third component is a mineral-rich cartridge that would be used to add essential minerals back into the water, making it healthier and more nutritious. The system would also have an automated system to monitor the water quality and alert users if the water is not safe to drink. This would ensure that users are aware of any potential issues and can take action to fix them. To make this system a reality, I would need funding to build and test the system. I would also need to partner with local organizations to help distribute the system and educate people on how to use it safely. I would also need to collaborate with local governments and scientists to ensure that the system is effective and meets international standards for water quality. Finally, I would need to find ways to make the system affordable for people living in developing countries. This could be done by partnering with local businesses or organizations to subsidize the cost of the system, or by creating a pay-as-you-go system where users can purchase the water they need and pay for it over time. I believe that, with the right resources and support, this system can be created and implemented in developing countries, providing people with access to clean and safe drinking water. The impact this would have on the health and well-being of people in these countries would be tremendous, and I am passionate about making this idea a reality.

Growing up, I thought I wanted to paint the beauty around me but then I found out that the beauty was in danger. Now I want to learn all I can about the processes and features that shape our planet so I may one day protect that beauty. My dream of becoming a geologist began when I applied for Amarillo College and will begin taking classes in the field. I am deeply committed to achieving my dream of becoming a geologist and making a difference in the world.
