      Trees for Tuition Scholarship Fund
From a young age, I have been fascinated by how technology shapes the world around us. As I pursue a career in software engineering, my goal is not just to write code, but to write change into the future of my community and beyond. I believe that technology, when wielded thoughtfully, has the power to tackle real-world problems and bring people together. It is this belief that drives my commitment to making the world a better place through innovation and purpose-driven development. Currently, I am already contributing to my community in small but meaningful ways. I volunteer with the local food bank to participate in street feeds, and I visit retirement homes to spend time with the elderly. I’ve seen firsthand how simple gestures like smiling and asking how someone's day is, can impact others. By helping others that, in some cases, can't help themselves I hope to leave a lasting impact on my community. Looking ahead, my plans revolve around using software engineering to build tools and platforms that promote sustainability, accessibility, and education. For example, I want to develop apps that help people reduce their environmental footprint, like platforms that help users track their energy usage or connect with local eco-friendly businesses. The connection between technology and environmental awareness is especially meaningful to me, and it’s one reason why the Trees for Tuition scholarship resonates so deeply. Beyond sustainability, I’m also passionate about using code to bridge gaps in access. I hope to work on projects that provide educational resources to underserved communities, whether through mobile learning apps, low-data digital classrooms, or coding bootcamps in rural areas. I envision a world where learning opportunities aren't limited by zip codes or income levels, and software can help make that vision a reality. Software engineering also offers the potential to create tools for mental health support, local civic engagement, and disaster response, fields I’m deeply interested in exploring further. With an ever-evolving digital landscape, I know there is always something new to learn and a fresh challenge to take on. My ultimate goal is to be the kind of engineer who uses knowledge not only to build efficient systems, but to build equity, awareness, and opportunity. After college, I plan to continue volunteering, mentoring, and contributing to open-source projects that align with causes I care about. Whether through a startup, nonprofit, or tech giant, my mission will stay the same: use technology to solve problems that matter. Every line of code is a chance to help someone, somewhere, and that’s the mindset I intend to carry throughout my career. By investing in me, the Trees for Tuition scholarship would be supporting not just one student’s education, but a future shaped by meaningful impact. With the right tools and support, I believe I can help plant the seeds of change and watch them grow into something lasting.

My name is Kamyias Jackson, and I am a motivated and dedicated individual who believes in following through on every goal I set. Whether it’s academics, community service, or personal growth, I approach each challenge with honesty, fairness, compassion, and practicality. These values have shaped the person I am today and continue to guide the future I am building for myself and others. Growing up, I learned the importance of perseverance and doing what’s right, even when it’s difficult. I’ve always believed that true character is revealed not by what we say, but by what we do. That belief has driven me to be a person who finishes what I start and stays grounded in my principles. Whether I’m leading a team project, helping a friend, or volunteering in my community, I give it my all. One of my greatest passions is technology, and I plan to pursue a career in computer software. To me, technology isn’t just about coding or building systems, it’s about creating tools that solve real problems and improve people’s lives. I want to be part of a future where innovation is used for good, where software is designed not just for profit but for impact. I believe that with the right intentions and skills, I can use technology to help build a more connected, efficient, and equitable world. Alongside my academic and career goals, community service has always been an important part of my life. I’ve been actively involved in organizing food drives to support local families, participating in street feeds to help the unhoused, and creating field days to give children in my neighborhood a chance to laugh, play, and feel valued. These experiences have not only opened my eyes to the needs of others, but they’ve also taught me that small acts of service can have a lasting impact. I believe that change starts on the ground, and I intend to stay connected to my community no matter how far my education or career takes me. What sets me apart is not just my ambition, but my commitment to using it responsibly. I don’t just want success for myself; I want to lift others up along the way. Whether it’s through mentoring future students in tech, developing apps that support mental health, or creating platforms for community engagement, I want to be someone who makes a real, positive difference. The Mark Green Memorial Scholarship represents values that align closely with my own, hard work, community involvement, and a desire to create meaningful change. Being selected would not only help me financially, but it would also affirm that who I am and what I stand for matters. With your support, I will continue striving toward my goals while staying true to the values that have guided me all along.
Marie J. Lamerique Scholarship for Aspiring Scholars
Growing up in a single-parent household has shaped my identity in deep lasting ways. It taught me resilience, empathy, and the importance of understanding perspectives beyond my own. More than anything, it helped me recognized that life is full of dualities, every situation has both good and bad, joy and struggle. This understanding has grounded me in values of balance and simplicity, and it has fueled my goals and ambitions as I pursue a future in computer software and a life rooted in stability and family. One of the earliest lessons I learned from my upbringing was that every story has two sides. When parents separate, a child naturally becomes exposed to different viewpoints, emotions, and sometimes even conflicting truths, especially when you're the oldest(me). In that environment, I had to learn to listen, to empathize, and to think critically. I began to see that people, even the ones closest to you, can experience the same situation in entirely different ways. That realization has given me a deeper sense of emotional intelligence, one that helps me build meaningful connections with others, solve problems with and open mind, and remain grounded in fairness. Since balance was often missing in my home life, where routines were constantly shifting and emotions ran high, I've come to value simplicity and consistency. I learned to appreciate the small moments of calm, the rare days where everything felt aligned, and the importance of having emotional and mental clarity. These values influence how I live today and guide the future I'm working toward. I want a life where I can bring stability not only to myself but to those I love. I want to break cycles, not repeat them. I also intend to help others who struggle with this situation do the same. These personal experiences have directly shaped my goals. I plan to pursue a career in computer software, not only because I have a strong interest in technology, but because I see it as a field where I can build, innovate, and create structure, things I craved growing. Software development requires logic, precision, and creativity. It provides an opportunity to bring order and solutions into the world, and in many ways, that mirrors what I want to do in my own life. I want to use my skills to contribute to technological advancement, while also creating a future that is far more stable and secure than the one I came from. My ambitions are deeply tied to my values. More than just building a successful career, I want to build a strong foundation for my future family. I am committed to being present and active in my children's lives, making sure they grow up with both parents involved and engaged. While I understand life is unpredictable and perfection is almost unachievable, I believe that with intention, love, and commitment, I can create a family dynamic filled with support and balance, something I deeply longed for growing up. The Marie J. Lamerique Scholarships represents more than just financial support; it stands for empowerment through education and perseverance through hardship. As an aspiring scholar, I know firsthand what it means to face challenges at home while striving to succeed academically and personally. My background has not held me back; it has sharpened my focus and clarified my goals. I am determined to rise above the limitations of my circumstances, not only for myself but for the generations that come after me. In conclusion, growing up in a single-parent household shaped me in ways that have made me stronger, more compassionate, and more driven. It taught me the importance of understanding others, the value of simplicity and balance, and the power of building something better. These lessons continue to guide my goals, values, and ambitions as I move forward into adulthood and chase a future, I've long envisioned, one defined not by where I come from, but by where I'm going.
      Sweet Dreams Scholarship
Being part of the community has deeply shaped the way I view the future, especially through the lens of connection, kindness, and shared purpose. Participating in various community service activities has not only helped me understand the needs of others but has also instilled in me a profound hope that compassion and service can lead to lasting change. Through these experiences, I've come to believe that as more people recognize the value of giving back, the world will become a more empathetic and united place. One of the most impactful experiences I've had was participating in SWAJ, a program where we raise money to take kids Christmas shopping. It goes far beyond just buying presents. The entire process, fundraising, meeting the children, and learning about their lives, taught me a kind of kindness that isn't just about giving material things, but about giving time, attention, and understanding. Spending time with the kids and talking with them about their wishes, not just for the holidays but for their futures, helped me form a personal connection to their struggles and dreams. It was humbling to see their gratitude for even the smallest gestures, and it reminded me how meaningful simple acts of love and support can be. This experience in particular gave me a glimpse into the often-hidden realities of other's lives. Many of these children come from homes facing hardship, yet their spirits are resilient. Seeing their joy, even in difficult circumstances, showed me the power of community to uplift and inspire. It made me realize that hope isn't something abstract; it's something we create through action, compassion, and commitment to others. What gives me the most hope is the growing desire I see in people around me to get involved in their communities. Whether it's organizing food drives, tutoring younger students, or supporting families in need, I've noticed that more and more of my peers are stepping up. I believe that community service has a ripple effect, once someone experiences the fulfillment of helping others, they're more likely to continue giving and encourage others to do the same. This gives me confidence that our future holds a generation of individuals who care, who act, and who understand that change starts with kindness. The Sweet Dreams Scholarship reflects the very values that have guided me throughout my community involvement, empathy, service, and a belief in brighter futures. I hope to continue this work as I pursue higher education and beyond, with the goal of creating inclusive spaces and opportunities for others. Whether through volunteering or leading new initiatives, I want to keep contributing to a culture where everyone feels seen, supported, and hopeful. In short, being part of a community has strengthened my belief in people and in the good we are capable of when we come together. It has taught me that hope isn't just a feeling, it's a shared responsibility, and one I am proud to carry forward.
