    Healthy Eating Scholarship
In my experience, adopting healthy eating habits has been a transformative journey, both physically and mentally. It's been a way for me to show myself love and respect, and prioritize my health and well-being. Growing up, I didn't have the best relationship with food. I was raised by a single mother who worked hard to provide for our family, but we often didn't have access to healthy foods or the resources to prepare nutritious meals. As a result, I developed unhealthy eating habits and struggled with my weight and self-esteem. However, as I entered adulthood, I began to understand the importance of taking care of my body and mind. I started to do research on healthy eating habits and gradually began incorporating more nutritious foods into my diet. At first, it was a challenge and required a lot of self-discipline. But as I continued to make these changes, I started to see and feel the positive impact it was having on my life. It's important to note that the practice of healthy eating habits goes beyond just what we eat. It also involves taking the time to prepare and enjoy our meals, being mindful of portion sizes, and listening to our bodies to understand what it needs to feel nourished and satisfied. When we adopt a holistic approach to healthy eating, it can be easier to maintain and becomes a natural part of our daily routine. In terms of physical health, I have more energy, sleep better, and have experienced improvements in my digestion and overall physical well-being. I also feel more confident in my body, which has been a huge boost to my self-esteem. Mentally, I've noticed a significant improvement in my focus and ability to manage stress. I'm better equipped to handle difficult situations, and my overall mood has improved. I feel more relaxed and at peace with myself, which has been a profound change. Taking care of our bodies through healthy eating habits is also a spiritual act of self-care and self-love. By nourishing our bodies with nutritious foods, we are showing ourselves love and respect and taking care of the temple that houses our soul. This allows us to tap into a deeper sense of inner peace and connection to our spiritual selves. In conclusion, adopting healthy eating habits has been a journey of self-discovery and self-care for me. It's allowed me to show myself love and respect, prioritize my health and well-being, and connect with my spiritual self in a deeper way. I encourage everyone to explore the benefits of healthy eating habits, as they can have a profound impact on all aspects of our lives.

Growing up in Flint, Michigan as a young black male without a father can be a difficult journey, but I am grateful for the love and support of my mother, who has been instrumental in helping me become the person I am today. Losing my father in a car crash in 2007 was a traumatic experience, but my mother's unwavering love and support helped me through that difficult time and has continued to be a constant source of encouragement and inspiration as I navigate the challenges of life. My mother has always been there for me, no matter what. Despite facing numerous challenges and hardships, including the struggle to make ends meet as a single mother, she never lost sight of her goal to give her children the best life possible. She worked tirelessly to provide for our family, often sacrificing her own dreams and desires, and was always there to listen and offer words of wisdom when I needed it. Her love and support have been a constant in my life, and I am grateful for all that she has done for me. One of the things that I admire most about my mother is her unwavering strength and determination. Despite facing numerous obstacles and setbacks, she never gave up, always pushing forward and never losing sight of her goals. This tenacity and resilience have been a constant source of inspiration for me, and I have learned so much from her about the importance of hard work, perseverance, and the power of the human spirit. In addition to her strength and determination, my mother has also been instrumental in helping me develop a strong sense of values and morality. She instilled in me the importance of honesty, kindness, and compassion, and taught me to always stand up for what is right, no matter what. These values have become an integral part of who I am, and I know that I would not be the person I am today without her guidance and support. As I embark on this new chapter in my life at Morehouse College, I am filled with excitement and anticipation. I am eager to learn and grow, to make new friends and explore new opportunities, and to make my mother proud. I know that she will always be there for me, offering her love and support, and I am grateful for the lessons she has taught me and the positive impact she has had on my life. In conclusion, my mother has been a constant source of love and support throughout my life, and I am grateful for all that she has done for me. Her unwavering strength and determination, her commitment to her values, and her love and support have been instrumental in helping me become the person I am today, and I will always carry her lessons with me as I navigate the challenges and opportunities of life. I am proud to be her son, and I will always work tirelessly to make her proud and repay her for all the sacrifices she has made for me.

As a young black male from Flint, Michigan, I believe that it is important for us to work towards understanding the nature of our universe for a variety of reasons. One of the most important reasons is that understanding the universe can help us to understand our place in it. When we understand the universe, we can better understand our role within it, and how we can contribute to making the world a better place. Another important reason why we should work to better understand the nature of our universe is that it can help us to better understand the nature of our existence. The universe is vast and mysterious, and understanding it can help us to better understand our own existence, and what our purpose is in this world. As a student of science and mathematics, I hope to employ various ideas and concepts in order to better understand the nature of our universe. One of the concepts that I hope to employ is the concept of the scientific method. The scientific method is a systematic process that is used to investigate and understand the natural world. By using the scientific method, I hope to be able to gather data and evidence that will help me to better understand the universe. Another concept that I hope to employ is the concept of mathematical models. Mathematical models are mathematical representations of physical systems. By using mathematical models, I hope to be able to understand the underlying laws that govern the universe. I also hope to employ the concept of critical thinking and skepticism. Critical thinking is the ability to think rationally and objectively about a subject, and skepticism is the ability to question assumptions and look for evidence. By using critical thinking and skepticism, I hope to be able to evaluate the evidence and theories that are presented to me, and to come to my own conclusions about the nature of the universe. Finally, I hope to employ the concept of interdisciplinary study. Interdisciplinary study is the study of different fields in order to gain a better understanding of a subject. By using interdisciplinary study, I hope to be able to gain a better understanding of the universe by looking at it from a variety of different perspectives. In conclusion, as a young black male from Flint, Michigan, I believe that it is important for us to work towards understanding the nature of our universe for a variety of reasons. By understanding the universe, we can better understand our place in it, our role within it, and how we can contribute to making the world a better place. As a student of science and mathematics, I hope to employ various ideas and concepts in order to better understand the nature of our universe, including the scientific method, mathematical models, critical thinking, skepticism, and interdisciplinary study.

My career goal is to become a community leader and advocate for social justice in Flint, Michigan. Growing up in Flint, I have seen firsthand the impact of systemic inequalities on my community. I want to work towards creating a more equitable and just society for all residents of Flint. I am Kameron Motley, a creative and motivated student at Carman-Ainsworth High School where I am a University of Michigan — Flint dual enrollment student. My philosophy upon life is, “You only have one shot at it, so why not aim high?” In terms of my education, I am currently studying political science and African American studies in my dual enrollment program with the University of Michigan — Flint. I have been accepted and plan to attend Morehouse college this fall. I believe that this education, combined with my experiences growing up in Flint, will equip me with the knowledge and skills necessary to be an effective community leader and advocate. One of the things that I have learned from playing chess that will help me achieve these goals is the importance of strategic thinking. Chess is a game of strategy, where every move must be carefully considered in light of the overall goal. Similarly, in my work as a community leader and advocate, I must be able to think strategically about the actions I take in order to achieve my goals. Another thing that I have learned from chess is the importance of patience. In chess, a hasty move can lead to disaster, and it is important to be patient and wait for the right moment to make a move. This same principle applies to my work as a community leader and advocate. I must be patient and not rush into decisions or actions that may not be well thought out. Finally, chess has taught me the importance of perseverance. In chess, losing a game is not the end. You can always learn from your mistakes and come back stronger. I apply this mindset in my work as a community leader and advocate, where setbacks and challenges are a part of the process, but it's important to keep pushing forward and never give up. In conclusion, my career goal is to become a community leader and advocate for social justice in Flint, Michigan. I believe that my education, combined with my experiences growing up in Flint and the skills I've learned from playing chess will equip me with the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve this goal. I'm determined to make a positive impact in my community by being a strategic thinker, patient and persevering leader.

Growing up in Flint, I have seen firsthand the impact that social determinants of health can have on a community, and I want to make a positive impact by addressing these issues through community-based interventions and programs. I am particularly interested in studying the effects of trauma on youth in Flint. The Flint water crisis, as well as other ongoing issues such as poverty and violence, have had a significant impact on the mental health and well-being of young people in the community. I believe that by studying these issues and working with community leaders, we can develop effective strategies to address the needs of youth affected by trauma. As part of my studies at Morehouse College, I hope to have the opportunity to facilitate a conversation with community leaders about research on youth trauma in Flint. I believe that by bringing together community leaders, educators, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders, we can develop a comprehensive understanding of the issue and work together to develop effective solutions. I am excited about the opportunity to be a part of this conversation and to contribute to the development of strategies that can improve the lives of young people in my community. After completing my studies in public health, I plan on going into the field of community health. I believe that by working with community-based organizations and government agencies, we can implement programs and interventions that address the root causes of health disparities and improve the overall health of the community. I also plan on pursuing further education in public health or a related field, such as a Master's degree in Public Health, to deepen my knowledge and skills and to work in a more advanced research-oriented role. In conclusion, my experiences growing up in Flint have had a profound impact on me and have driven me to pursue a career in public health, with a focus on community health. I am committed to using my education and experience to improve the health and well-being of communities, particularly those that have been disproportionately affected by poor health outcomes. I believe that by addressing the root causes of health disparities and working to improve the overall health of the community, we can help to reduce health disparities and improve the overall health of the community.

Growing up in Flint, Michigan, the water crisis was a constant reminder of the systemic injustices in my community. The lack of access to clean water not only affected my physical health, but also had a profound impact on my mental well-being. The constant stress and uncertainty of not knowing if the water I was drinking was safe took a toll on me and my family. We had to rely on bottled water for everything, from cooking and cleaning to bathing and drinking. This added an extra burden on my family, both financially and emotionally. It was a constant reminder that our government and officials did not care about the well-being of our community. Additionally, the violence in my community has also had a major impact on my mental health. Growing up, I saw friends and family members fall victim to gun violence and it instilled a sense of fear and hopelessness in me. This made it difficult for me to trust people and form healthy relationships. I often felt like there was no one I could turn to for support or protection, and that I had to rely on myself to stay safe. This isolation and fear has had a long-lasting impact on my mental health, and I often struggle with anxiety and depression. Being raised by a single parent, I often felt like I had to be the "man of the house" and take on responsibilities that were not meant for a child. This added extra stress and pressure on me, and made it difficult for me to form healthy relationships. I often felt like I had to be the strong one, and that I could not show vulnerability or weakness. This has made it difficult for me to trust others and form healthy relationships. All of these experiences have shaped my beliefs, relationships, and career aspirations. They have taught me that systemic change is necessary to create a just society, and that I want to use my voice and privilege to fight for those who are marginalized. They have also made me more empathetic and understanding of the struggles that others face, and have influenced me to pursue a career in social justice or advocacy. I want to work towards creating a world where everyone has access to clean water and is safe from violence. I also want to work towards creating a society where children from single-parent households are not made to feel like they have to bear the burden of adult responsibilities. I know it will take a lot of hard work, but I am determined to use my experiences to make a positive change in the world. In terms of my mental health, I have learned the importance of self-care and seeking help when needed. I have learned the importance of seeking professional help, and that it is okay to not be okay. I have learned that it is okay to reach out to friends and family for support, and that it is important to build a support system. I believe that with the right tools, I can learn to manage my mental health, and that it does not have to define me. In conclusion, growing up in Flint, Michigan has been a challenging experience, but it has also been a powerful one. It has taught me the importance of fighting for justice, and the importance of self-care and seeking help when needed. I am determined to use my experiences to make a positive change in the world, and to work towards creating a just and equitable society for all.

As a young black male from Flint, Michigan, I have always been passionate about the principles of freedom and equality that the US Constitution represents. Growing up in a community that has been deeply impacted by systemic inequality and injustice, I have seen firsthand the ways in which these principles have not always been upheld for marginalized communities like mine. The Constitution serves as the foundation of our democracy and the basis for the laws and institutions that shape our society. It is the document that enshrines the rights and protections that all Americans should have access to, regardless of their race, gender, or socioeconomic status. However, I have also seen how the Constitution has been used to justify and perpetuate oppression and discrimination against marginalized communities. As a young black male, I have experienced the impact of this firsthand, whether it be through the Flint water crisis, the school-to-prison pipeline, or the countless other ways in which our government has failed to uphold its promise of freedom and equality for all. That is why I am passionate about the Constitution and the principles it represents. It is not just a historical document, but a living document that must be constantly interpreted and applied in a way that is true to its spirit and that advances the cause of justice. Attending Morehouse College is a step forward for me to achieve my goals, and I am excited for the opportunity to deepen my understanding of the Constitution and the law, and to learn from the many accomplished scholars and activists who have dedicated their lives to fighting for civil rights and social justice. Through my education and the skills I will gain, I plan to continue to fight for civil rights through my career by using my knowledge of the Constitution and the law to advocate for marginalized communities and to hold our government accountable to its principles of freedom and equality for all. This can be achieved through working in the legal field, lobbying, or working with non-profit organizations that work towards social justice. Additionally, I will also work on supporting and uplifting the community in Flint Michigan and other marginalized communities, by working for the betterment of their living conditions and providing them with the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. This can be achieved through working with local organizations, volunteering, mentoring, and by being an active member of my community. I believe that the Constitution represents the best of our nation's aspirations, but it will only live up to its promise if we are willing to fight for it and to hold our government accountable to its principles. And I am committed to doing just that, through my education, my career, and my life.

Revolutionary ideas such as the motor automobile came from people with determination and grit such as myself. I am Kameron Motley, sixteen year old from Flint, Michigan. I attend Carman-Ainsworth High School with a 4.0 current GPA and an 3.5 cumulative GPA. I am also an UM-Flint Dual Enrollment student. Being from Flint, the automobile culture captured me. There were streets named after automakers and the highways were catered directly towards the General Motors plants. For example, there was "Chevrolet Ave" and "Buick Street." From a young age, I knew I wanted to be able to design automobiles to become safer and efficient on the road. This was also considered due to my father passing away in an automobile accident in 2007. To accomplish this, I started to take PLTW engineering and science courses throughout all of middle school. The middle school classes introduced me to coding and design. I also took an engineering design class that catered directly to my career choice in high school. In that class, I used CAD a lot and designed items on the computer. The items consisted of phone cases, blocks, and our own inventions. This class also consisted of different engineering projects that required innovative thinking using balloons and strings to transport items. Following that, I had the opportunity to travel to AECOM, an engineering firm, in a class field trip to speak to the engineers and watch what they accomplish on a daily basis. I saw lots of autoworkers working on vehicles and even vehicles being worked on to become commercial vehicles. This exposure helped me mentally prepare myself on what to expect in the future. A close friend of my Grandmas has taken me to the NAIAS (North American International Auto Show) every year up until 2020 due to the pandemic. While there, I was able to prepare myself by talking with engineers about why they chose certain designs for vehicles and how the process was for designing different concepts that were created. I also had got in connection with a professor from Kettering University, ranked #13 best engineering school, and discussed about the type of school I should choose when studying design engineering. The conversations I had with the professor from Kettering University had helped me begin to think about which school I should choose in the future. With the preparation taken, I hope to be able to come together with other engineers with the same mindset to develop a revolutionary change to vehicles. I hope to contribute towards making these vehicles safer, more efficient, and towards performance. I understand than many people across the world, including myself, has lost someone due to an auto accident or malfunction. I want to be apart of the contribution to decrease the numbers of auto fatalities and put a stop to them. I also hope to set an example for my peers and youth in the community. As an African-American in Flint Michigan, It would mean a lot to escape from a city that has lots of negative energy, and to represent as the positive energy and positive change that I would like to see.
