The aspect of being a pilot that most appeal to me is the
very important role and responsibility of being in command of an aircraft. Being in command of an aircraft boils down to teamwork, problem-solving, and respecting the uniform. I greatly appreciate the importance of the flight officers being in sync with each other when taking the controls of an Aircraft. I enjoy problem-solving at a moment’s notice to tackle any issues the aircraft may come upon. Lastly, the respect that the aviation attire brings and how important it is to me to see more people of color walk in the uniform. My interest in becoming a pilot was initiated by a Vanity Fair magazine and my experience as an Aviation Fueler. When I was ten years old, I picked up a Vanity Fair magazine and witnessed the showcase of the last flight of the majestic Concorde plane. My life as I knew it changed in that moment. As an Aviation Fueler, I took advantage of the opportunity to talk to the pilots on a daily basis after servicing their plane with fuel. The pilots I talked to, definitely expanded my perspective on what it takes to become a pilot. Their advice highly motivated me to keep pursuing this career field. I will be very successful in the career field I'm in because I have the skill sets necessary of a future airline pilot. Which includes
problem solving, time management, multi-tasking, and being able to adapt in most situations.
