Bio

My life goals are to become a successful independent black woman! I am most passionate about helping others and finding new innovative ways to make society a better place. As a minority, I see the lack of education and drive in our generation. I feel as if the generation has become lazy and only wants to meet average standards. Being raised by ambitious parents, I only know how to exceed standards. My future goals are to enter college to major in Pre-nursing!

The world of medicine has always surrounded me throughout my life. I grew up with a mother who is a registered nurse and a father who took care of my ill grandmother. This influenced me to become obsessed with playing "doctor" with my dolls and even got me involved with medical shows. As a child, I was easily influenced by anything that could keep me entertained for the day, but something about medicine stuck with me like glue. The thought of learning about a new tool, disease, or medicine was something that I was always invested in, especially when I got to practice all my "new" skills on my dolls. Growing up in a household with a severely ill grandmother helped me understand that I wanted to help others in the future. As I grew up, I spent a lot of time helping take care of my grandmother--hoping and wishing that I could cure her of her health issues. Her health would decline rapidly at times and magically improve until she finally passed away in 2020. Her death made me realize that there are several people and their family members who are fighting to help their loved ones. After going through months of depression from losing her, I finally crawled out of my deep dark hole and realized that she would've wanted me to continue my love for helping others. I even found out that she was previously a nurse. This is where I began to start my passion for nursing. To prove that my childhood dream is something that can be accomplished with hard work and dedication and to continue my grandmother's name. My goal is to join the nursing program at Tidewater Community College and start my nursing career. From there I would love to become and labor and delivery nurse, where I can work hands-on with expecting mothers and their new family additions. Learning how the female body is able to create another human and then bring life into this world intrigues me and I can't wait to experience it. Another one of my goals is to become a labor and delivery nurse that travels the world so that I can also explore different countries while being able to follow my dreams. Understanding how other cultures deliver and care for mothers and their babies makes me curious to learn more. In all, I feel that nursing is an amazing path for me to take considering how invested I have been in the topic for several years.
