All my life I’ve dreamt of helping others, this meant becoming a doctor. While my passion for what kind of doctor continued to change, I’ve established a passion for sports medicine. This developed from my love of watching sports with my dad. The range of emotions filled with happiness and anger I could experience through only three short hours of a game. I want to be hands-on and learn the anatomy and physiology of an athlete's injuries and help them get better. The joy that I get from knowing that I can be involved with the game and the recovery process makes me feel complete. Another one of my passions is inclusion, I hope to create a more just world. Specifically, in the sports medicine field, you observe that different races are more prone to certain injuries than others. By embracing the diverse culture present in my university I can begin to study racial disparities in the health system, fusing together my love of medicine and inclusion. With all of my efforts, I will develop a strong fitness and rehabilitation program for athletes of color. I want to focus on every aspect of an athlete, so that later in their professional careers they aren’t dying from things we as doctors could’ve prevented. With my love of sports, inclusion, and service, I hope to positively influence those around me. With every obstacle, I face I will continue to turn to my passions and the people I love most for guidance and sanctuary.
