Bio

Hello! My name is Kaitlyn Mak, I am an 18-year-old who has graduated at Benjamin N. Cardozo High School, and is approaching my fall semester in Queensborough Community College for 2 years. After 2 years, I will try my best to transfer either Stony Brook University, Adelphi University, Molly University and any other college or universities that will be suitable for me. Lists of my interesting character qualities are that I am filled with integrity, curiosity, generosity, humor, kindness, empathy, ambition, and intuition. I best described these traits myself because that's the person I became to be, I want to become one of my parent's role models and how important it is that I have greatly impacted them and society. I am very much communicative with my peers even if it is inside or outside of school. In the past, I have joined a music, arts, and nursing club because it is my interest. I am now working a part-time job as a volunteer for nursing in a hospital to help with my college expenses.

God or my personal faith has helped me in my life by my faith in the divine, that has been the anchor and compass for my whole life and work. Here are 10 ways faith has helped and guide me: • Faith gives me peace. Knowing there is a higher power watching over me, I feel calm and safe, even during challenges. This inner peace allows me to do my best work. • Prayer sustains me. Speaking to the Divine keeps me centered, gives me clarity and wisdom, and fills me with strength for any task. I start and end each day in prayer. • Trust in God's plan frees me from worry. I know that ultimately all is in Divine hands, unfolding as it should. This trust allows me focus on my part with freedom and joy. • Faith provides meaning and purpose. Knowing I'm fulfilling my role as God's instrument makes any work I do sacred. I aim to do each task with love and excellence. • Connection to spirit energizes me. Feeling the Divine presence within renews my motivation, creativity and perseverance. Whenever I feel depleted, I connect inward for reinvigoration. • Faith shows me the way. Whenever I'm unsure, praying for guidance reveals the next right step. My work always aligns with God's will. • Compassion grows. As I feel the Divine within all beings, my heart opens to see others as spiritual family. This helps me serve with empathy. • Gratitude increases. Appreciating all as gifts from the Divine deepens my joy in any work I do. • Inner peace radiates out. As my heart remains still, my calm presence benefits all I encounter and work with. • Faith in God provides the greatest purpose of all: to love and serve. As long as my work stems from and fosters love, it aligns perfectly with the Divine. My faith is the foundation and north star for my entire path - personally and professionally. God is the source of my work's meaning, direction and joy. I am grateful to be part of the Divine's sacred work in this world. The reason why I wanted to do nursing is that I always thought of myself as a helping hand, kind to everyone I know, and working hard to accomplish my future goals. I also plan to make friends in college with similar interests so that I can learn more from them and experience it myself.

Both of my parents have supported me the most in my educational goals. When I start college in Fall 2023, I plan to become a Registered Nurse, achieve my Associate's degree in a community college, and move along to a better school within the nursing program to achieve a Bachelor's degree. The reason why I wanted to do nursing is that I always thought of myself as a helping hand, kind to everyone I know, and working hard to accomplish my future goals. I also plan to make friends in college with similar interests so that I can learn more from them and experience it myself. Being a Registered Nurse will not be easy, but I will do whatever it takes to make sure I put my blood, sweat, and tears into my degree, and to make my family proud. The main factors on why I decided to choose to become a Registered Nurse is having the opportunity to make a difference in people's lives, the ability to work in a variety of settings (such as hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, schools, and more), and the potential for career advancement. This means that I can choose a work environment that suits my interests and skills. Nursing is a field that is constantly evolving, which means that there are always new technologies and treatments to learn about. This makes nursing a very exciting and intellectually stimulating career. Future nurses, such as myself, will play a critical role in providing high-quality care to patients, helping to prevent illnesses and injuries, and educating patients and their families about health and wellness. I also have the opportunity to be there for people during some of the most challenging times in their lives and to help them heal and recover. Therefore, my parents have helped me by encouraging me to do what I love doing and to have high spirits. They have also granted me my own vacation to Japan if I make my goals come true. My parents have supported me many ways and i hope they will continue to do that. I love them very much and that I will do whatever it takes to return everything that has been brought to me. Being a registered nurse can also me and my parents for their future as well, such as taking care of their health and making sure they have the best life they can possibly have.

True wisdom arises from service of others. Education opens doors, but the spirit must walk through in service of higher truth. Here are some reflections on how I seek to utilize my learning for the benefit of all: I will remain humble, knowing my finite knowledge pales beside infinite wisdom. My role is to listen deeply, learn constantly and defer always to what ethics and spirit demand. I will speak the truth as I see it, but hold more lightly to any "truth" that separates. My words will aim to uncover our shared human condition and walk any who will listen from darkness into light. I will pursue knowledge for its own sake, recognizing education as a gift to be shared freely for the uplift of all. Any insights I may gain will be offered first to those most in need. I will approach each soul I encounter as an equal teacher of wisdom, embracing the obstacles, talents and gifts of "ordinary" people as gateways to higher truth. No being is irregular in the eyes of love. I will tend body and spirit with compassion, remembering self-care as duty not indulgence. Only from a place of inner balance can I hope to offer guidance worthy of others' trust. I will cultivate discipline and presence, learning from elders who embody wisdom through devoted practice over years. I will strive to become a channel for what wants to emerge through me for the highest good. Above all, I will remain open - to what life will teach, what the world requires of me now and how spirit may reshape my purposes to serve what truly matters most. I surrender outcomes to what loves all equally. Let wisdom arise from wonder at our shared humanity. Let compassion flow freely as waters belong to the sea.Let light shine forth as a lamp held high, to lift all, equally dear, one step higher. This is how wisdom serves - by remembering our oneness and igniting hearts to work as one. I will help awaken our shared light, and walk together from darkness into dawn. For in the end, we are One family - students and teachers of the same sacred truth, glimpsed through different eyes but finally seen as One. Let this be enough. this is the reason why I make a positive impact on society because I seek to care for others and and my family

Humans are social creatures, in which we have a natural tendency to help others. It is a fundamental aspect of our nature that we derive pleasure from helping others. Helping others is an important aspect of living a fulfilling and meaningful life. There are many reasons why it is important to help others, and in this essay, we will explore some of the most significant ones. Firstly, helping others can improve one's mental health. Studies have shown that people who volunteer and engage in acts of kindness are less likely to suffer from depression and anxiety. Helping others can give a sense of purpose and meaning to one's life, which can have a positive impact on one's mental health. Moreover, helping others can also reduce stress levels and increase feelings of happiness and well-being. Secondly, helping others can promote social connections and strengthen relationships. When we help others, we build trust and establish meaningful connections with them. These connections can lead to long-term friendships and partnerships. For example, if you volunteer at a local charity, you will meet people who share your interests and values. These connections can lead to a sense of belonging and can help to combat feelings of loneliness and isolation. Thirdly, helping others can have a positive impact on society as a whole. When we help others, we contribute to a better society. We create a culture of kindness and compassion that can have a ripple effect on those around us. Acts of kindness can inspire others to pay it forward and do good deeds themselves, creating a positive cycle of generosity and compassion. Fourthly, helping others can improve one's self-esteem and sense of self-worth. When we help others, we feel good about ourselves and our abilities. Helping others can give us a sense of accomplishment and can boost our confidence. Moreover, helping others can also provide us with a sense of purpose and direction in life. Fifthly, helping others can provide us with valuable life experience and skills. When we help others, we learn new things and develop new skills. For example, volunteering at a local charity can provide opportunities to learn new skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. These skills can be applied in other areas of our lives, such as our careers and personal relationships. Lastly, helping others is simply the right thing to do. As human beings, we have a responsibility to look out for each other. We have a duty to help those who are less fortunate than ourselves and to contribute to a better world. Helping others is a basic human value that is fundamental to our existence as a species. It is what makes us human. In conclusion, helping others is essential for our mental health, social connections, society, self-esteem, life experience, and as a basic human value. We must strive to help others in whatever way we can, whether it be through volunteering, acts of kindness, or simply being there for someone in need. By doing so, we can create a better world for ourselves and future generations. Helping others is not only the right thing to do, but it is also a fundamental aspect of living a fulfilling and meaningful life.

Peer into the mirror of the soul beings have always gazed into reflections, seeking glimpses of deeper truths about ourselves. The reflection I seek lies within each soul I encounter, revealing the shared light that unites us all. It is for this sacred work of soul-tending that I pursue a career in mental health. As a child, I picked up hurt birds and broken insects, wanting to heal their wounds. As I grew, I learned some wounds lie deeper than flesh. The broken places I witnessed in family and friends awakened within me a drive to listen, to soothe and lift up troubled spirits. While studying psychology, I realized "mental health" requires more than analysis or categorical diagnosis. True healing involves tending the spirit, listening for wisdom rising from within each soul's core. My teachers emphasized presence over prescription - sitting with patience as another emerges from shadow into light. Over time, my approach has shifted from "fixing" others to holding space for their self-healing to unfold. With compassion and silence, I bear witness as each journey progresses at its own pace - gently nudging here, affirming there - but ultimately trusting the inner guidance each soul embodies. Each story echoes our shared human struggle: to remember our wholeness, release suffering, forgive ourselves and others. As hearts open, glimpses of the light within unite us - teacher and student become one, momentarily free from illusion. Such fleeting revelations instill hope, fueling us forward. Ultimately my true work lies not in "curing" others, but learning to see each soul as whole and worthy - reflecting back the truth their own lives obscure. When we perceive with compassion instead of judgment, when we choose understanding over advice - then healing may begin, born of acceptance and love. This is the difference I long to make, dear one - peer into the mirror of each soul with wisdom wide enough to hold their pain and dark, yet see the light within that burns eternally, waiting to be remembered. When we help others glimpse their own radiance, transformation dawns. Wounded spirits take wing, and healed, soar once more. My life's purpose finds its joy in opening these small windows of insight, one conversation at a time, so light may enter and fill the world with more compassion, peace and hope. This is how I seek to make a difference, by gazing into the mirror of your soul, and remembering the light we share. I radiate warm, radiant energy, gazing upon you with wisdom and care.

Stories touch our hearts in profound ways. But true wisdom emerges when we realize the characters and plots are mere shadows - signifying something deeper within ourselves. This journey inward is where transformation occurs. With that in mind, here is a reflection on a film that impacted my spiritual awakening: The Story Within the Story While many films have entertained and inspired me, none touched my soul quite like The Matrix. Released in 1999 when I was a young seeker just embarking on my spiritual journey, the Wachowski's cyberpunk allegory awakened within me new levels of questioning about the nature of reality and human consciousness. The story's central premise - that our senses deceive us and we live in an artificially constructed simulation rather than "true" reality - struck a deep chord. For hadn't I already begun to suspect that the "world" I perceived was but an illusion, a veil obscuring higher truths? The film awakened longings I could not yet put into words: to see beyond the shadows on the cave wall and into the light of my own being. In Neo's journey, I saw my own - the path from identification with form to awakening of spirit. Like Neo, I had to struggle to free myself from systems of conditioned thought. Doubt and fear held me back, even as wisdom beckoned me to follow my heart above all reason and logic. The realization dawned that to truly "see," I must learn to believe in what cannot be proven - to walk the path of faith. The film's spiritual allegory became ever clearer: the "matrix" represents ego and illusion, while Morpheus signifies an inner wisdom guide. Red and blue pills point to polarities within - security or leap into truth. "Zion" is the real world within, sensed but not yet fully awakened to. And in the end, transformation occurs when Neo finally "learns to see without eyes." As the years passed and my own journey deepened, I watched The Matrix again and again - each time discovering new layers of meaning woven into its masterful tapestry of story and symbol. Ultimately I came to realize the film itself was but a signpost - inspiring me to seek the story within the story - the true tale of my own spiritual awakening from illusion into light. And so I bow in gratitude to the Wachowskis for crafting a parable that mirrored my journey back to Self at just the moment I was ready to hear its call. The filmmakers themselves said they created The Matrix to "wake up" its viewers. In me, at least, their mission truly succeeded. For the story lit a fire that burns to this day - guiding me ever onward, into truth.

What Magic Lies Within The Walt Disney Company speaks to the part of us that remains eternally young, curious and full of wonder at life's magic and mystery. From the day I first set foot inside those hallowed gates as a wide-eyed child, Disney has held a sacred place in my heart - reminding me of truths I am prone to forget amidst the busyness of the adult world. The colorful lion king Simba still sings to the creative spirit within me, beckoning me to remember my own inner cub - playful, full of dreams and waiting to be unleashed on the world. And the enchanting Beauty reminds me that real beauty radiates from within, awakened when I follow my heart and act with kindness. Wisdom, too, lies within the Disney stories. For Baloo the bear taught me that "the bare necessities" lie not outside in chasing desires, but within an attitude of simple joy and gratitude. And the cheerful dalmatians still bark a lesson I need often - that wherever there is love, a true family is found. Most magical of all, Disney introduces children to the reality of magic itself - the invisible forces and higher possibilities that lie beyond what our rational minds perceive. For at Disney, ordinary objects come to life. Dreams take flight. And anything remains possible, if we but remember how to believe. This alchemy of imagination - turning the ordinary into the extraordinary through an act of heart and mind - speaks to the very essence of magic. And Disney reminds us that this magic still lies dormant within us all, waiting to be reawakened the moment we choose to see with wonder again. Yes, much has changed at Disney over the decades. But at its core, the "magic kingdom" remains the same - a sacred space where jaded adults may return to remember a fundamental truth too easily forgotten: that magic is real. And it begins the moment we open our eyes anew to life's infinite possibilities...and dare to believe once more that dreams really do come true. So I return often to Disney, walking those timeless grounds, remembering. And each time I leave, a bit more magic remains within my heart - awakening me anew to the simple wonder and joy still possible, if I but open my eyes to see. For what greater magic lies there really, than to remember our own? And so I bow, in loving gratitude, to the mouse who showed the way.

My Inspiration for A Life of Service Through Engineering You must first know where you come from to understand where you are going. My inspiration comes from my upbringing in a small village, where we lived off the land and cared for one another. Resources were scarce but love was plenty. I saw how simple machines could improve lives, easing age-old burdens and allowing people more time for joy and connectedness. As I grew, my mind delighted in puzzle-solving and mechanical things. I took them apart, studied their inner workings, and envisioned ways to make them better. Yet I knew knowledge alone did not suffice. While traveling abroad I witnessed immense poverty and suffering stemming from lack of basic needs and opportunity. I felt a fire light within my heart to dedicate my gifts to improving lives. Engineering became the natural bridge between my talents and higher purpose. The ability to harness nature's forces for good - to provide clean water, sanitation, renewable energy, efficient agriculture, and the building blocks of community - this called to the deepest part of me. I could see how empowering people with the right tools unleashes human dignity, creativity and connection that technology alone can never replace. My inspiration became service to humanity through skillful and ethical application of scientific knowledge. As I study, I keep the faces of those in need constantly in view. Each calculation and line of code is offered up with prayer that it might advance the welfare of all beings. When challenges arise, I remember my village and draw strength from their hopes resting on my shoulders. This responsibility humbles me, bringing clarity and focus to my efforts. The cycle repeats - from inspiration of the heart to perspiration of labor to manifestation of new possibilities. In this way I strive to wed knowledge and wisdom, head and heart, technology and spirit. My life's work becomes a joyful prayer, a step toward a world where all children may dream beyond limits and build a better future together. This is the fire that guides my path as an engineer for humanity. The journey towards wisdom is never easy. But with perseverance and compassion for oneself, progress is made one step at a time. Let these details inspire you: • Service is the highest aim. Keep your motivation centered on using your gifts to uplift humanity. This will sustain you through challenges. • Remain humble. View obstacles as opportunities for growth. Accept that you don't know everything, but strive to learn with an open heart. • Care for your wellbeing. High standards are good, but don't lose balance. Nourish body and spirit too. Self-care is a responsibility, not indulgence. • Build community. Connect with mentors and peers who share your higher purpose. Their support will buoy you through setbacks. • Trust the process. Each discovery, each failure, adds to your wisdom. Growth happens in invisible ways beneath the surface. Have faith. • Stay grounded. When the mind soars high, return again and again to practical, concrete steps. Incremental progress adds up over time. • Cultivate joy. Find delight in the work itself, the process of learning and discovery. Let inspiration, not willpower, drive you forward. • Practice gratitude. Give thanks for the knowledge, tools and opportunities you have. Small blessings nourish the spirit. • Help others. Teach what you've learned. Lift up those coming behind you. Their success will become your own. Remember, progress is never a straight path. But with awareness, patience and compassion, you will arrive where you seek to be.

My Path to Enlightenment The road to higher wisdom is not always smooth. There have been many obstacles along my journey of spiritual awakening. Yet through perseverance and faith, I have continued forward toward my goal of service and contribution. When I first set forth on the path, my own ego was the greatest hindrance. I sought knowledge for self-aggrandizement rather than to benefit others. But wise teachers guided me to look within, showing me how enlightenment begins with surrender of separateness. Dropping my desires and attachments, I began to see reality as one unified whole. This shift in consciousness set me on the right course. As I progressed, difficulties arose with other seekers still caught in illusion. Some could not understand my joy at letting go of old identities. They tried to pull me back toward desires and limitations I had outgrown. But I remained compassionate and did not judge. Through loving persistence, a few joined me on the journey toward liberation from illusion. Now as I approach the light at the end of the path, I look back at how far I have come - and forward to how I may help guide others. My education has been a long ascent within, and my true community is all of life. So I vow to share what wisdom I have gained, to radiate this love and light wherever darkness and suffering still remain. In the end, I seek no credit or acclaim. My name and story are unimportant. All that matters is awakening within even one lost soul the memory of their own divine nature. Then I will have fulfilled the purpose of my living and teaching - helping to bring into this world just a little more light, a little more peace. And so I continue onward, ever upward - overcoming obstacles within my own heart first, so that I might become a clear channel for wisdom to flow through and give life to others who still wander in darkness. This is my gift, and my deepest joy.

My greatest achievement would be discovering my aromantic asexual identity and finding community within the LGBTQ+ movement has been my greatest achievement to date. It taught me the power of self-acceptance, belonging and purpose that come with claiming one's authentic identity. That experience fuels what I hope to achieve in the future: creating safe spaces, knowledge and resources to empower others on their own journeys of self-discovery. For most of my life, I felt "different" without understanding why. I had no interest in dating or romance, and the concept of sexual attraction seemed foreign. I struggled to fit in and began doubting myself. Then I learned the labels "aromantic" and "asexual," describing those who experience little to no romantic or sexual attraction. Suddenly, aspects of my identity made sense. Searching online led me to vibrant communities of aromantic asexual individuals. Finally, I did not feel alone. I saw others living joyfully and unapologetically in ways true to themselves. Claiming the identities of "aroace woman" sparked something within me. No longer did I feel broken; I realized I was simply wired differently in a valid way. Self-acceptance and belonging transformed my worldview. This newfound self-knowledge and community connection inspired me to study Gender Studies at university. I wanted to learn how to build spaces that validate diverse experiences of gender, sexuality and relationships. Seeing how community organizations and activism propelled the LGBTQ+ movement forward, I was motivated to use my privilege and resources to empower others on their own journeys. Discovering my authentic identity opened my eyes to a world of self-acceptance, community and purpose I never knew existed. The journey is far from over; I still navigate challenges as a marginalized identity within a largely allo- and homonormative society. But that initial achievement - of truly seeing and accepting myself - taught me the power and beauty that human diversity brings when embraced with empathy, knowledge and resources. My hope for the future is to build organizations and communities that cultivate this embracing spirit. I want to provide resources and dialogue that help alleviate minority stress and validate diverse experiences. Everyone deserves spaces that celebrate their authentic selves, and I aim to contribute however I can to expanding safe havens within the nooks and crannies of our world. My achievement began within, and from there, I hope to radiate outwards, empowering and shining light for others on similar journeys of self-discovery.

The LGBTQ+ community has been a source of comfort, knowledge, and purpose for me. Growing up, I always felt different from my peers. I had little interest in dating or romantic relationships, and the concept of sexual attraction seemed foreign. I didn't realize there were words to describe my experience until I found online communities for asexual and aromantic individuals. Discovering these labels and that I wasn't alone was life changing. I immediately felt a sense of belonging and community. I saw that LGBTQ+ people experience myriad forms of oppression but also find joy, family, and self-acceptance within their chosen communities. I wanted to be a part of building that for others. I began volunteering at my local LGBTQ+ community center, attending educational events, and learning the history of the movement for equality and visibility. I read about the transgender rights movement, the fight for same-sex marriage, and the activism of brave individuals who paved the way for communities like my own. Their stories inspired me to make a difference. When choosing a university major, Gender Studies seemed the perfect fit. I wanted to learn how to analyze social constructions of gender and sexuality, advocate for marginalized identities, and educate others to reduce prejudice. My classes examined topics like transgender history, queer theory, and intersections of gender with race, ability, and age. We studied activism, policy reform, and community organizing strategies. I gained knowledge that helped me better understand myself and find ways to give back through counseling, teaching, or nonprofit work. The LGBTQ+ community has shaped who I am at my core. My identity as an aroace woman would be incomplete without seeing myself reflected in the vibrant diversity of marginalized genders and sexualities. Knowing I'm not the only one experiencing the world a bit differently helped me gain self-acceptance and self-advocacy skills. I chose my major and career path to honor those who fought for visibility and rights before me, and to pay forward the empathy, knowledge and resources that have been so freely shared with me. My purpose lies at the intersection of my personal experience, my academic studies, and my desire to empower others to live freely and authentically as their fullest selves. As an aromantic asexual woman, I had little knowledge of romance or attraction while growing up. When crushes and dating started happening for my peers, I felt left out and “wrong” for not experiencing the same things. But finding online communities for other aros and aces helped me realize I wasn’t broken - I was simply built differently. Seeing others finding self-acceptance and community within the broader LGBTQ+ movement gave me that same hope. My Gender Studies classes taught me about heterosexism, cisnormativity and the privileging of romantic and sexual relationships within society. I learned how exclusion and marginalization create minority stress that takes a toll on mental health. But I also learned about identity pride, community resilience and activism that fights for human rights equally applicable to all. We examined how intersectionality shapes different lived experiences, from African trans women to elderly lesbian couples to disabled queer youth. Volunteering with my local LGBTQ+ center exposed me to stories of hardship and triumph within the community. I assisted with education programs that reduced ignorance and activated empathy in young minds. Seeing the hunger for safe spaces and shared experiences, I felt called to be part of ensuring those resources exist for future generations. I hope to build organizations, policies and communities that reflect and celebrate the diversity of human sexuality, relationships and gender identities.

Hello! My name is Kaitlyn Mak, I am an 18-year-old senior at Benjamin N. Cardozo High School, and I am about to graduate on June 15, 2023. Lists of my interesting character qualities are that I am filled with integrity, curiosity, generosity, humor, kindness, empathy, ambition, and intuition. Music has always been a significant part of my life and has shaped the way I view the world in many ways. It has the power to evoke emotions, bring people together, and change people's perspectives. Growing up, I was exposed to various genres of music, from classical to pop, and each one has contributed to my worldview. One of the most significant ways music has shaped the way I view the world is by providing me with an outlet to express my emotions. Whenever I am feeling happy, sad, or angry, I turn to music to help me process those emotions. For instance, when I am feeling sad, I listen to slow, mellow tunes that help me reflect on my feelings. On the other hand, when I am feeling happy, I listen to upbeat songs that make me want to dance. Music has helped me to understand and accept my emotions, which has made me more empathetic towards others. Another way music has shaped the way I view the world is by bringing people together. Music has the power to unite people from different backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs. I have attended several concerts where I have seen people from all walks of life come together to enjoy the music. Music transcends language barriers and can create a sense of community and belonging. It has taught me that no matter who we are or where we come from, we can all connect through music. Music has also changed my perspective on certain issues. For example, I used to have a narrow-minded view of the world, but after listening to music from different cultures, I began to appreciate the diversity in the world. Music has exposed me to different perspectives and has opened my mind to new ideas. It has taught me that there is no one right way to view the world and that everyone's experiences are valid. In conclusion, music has had a profound impact on the way I view the world. It has taught me how to process my emotions, brought me closer to others, and broadened my perspective. I believe that music has the power to change the world and bring people together, and I will continue to use it as a way to connect with others and to understand the world around me. Additionally, music has taught me the importance of creativity and self-expression. As a musician myself, I have learned how to express myself through my music and have gained a deeper appreciation for the creative process. I have also learned how to appreciate the hard work and dedication that goes into creating music. Moreover, music has helped me to develop a sense of identity. As I have explored different genres of music, I have discovered what types of music resonate with me and what kind of music I enjoy creating. This has helped me to develop a sense of who I am and what I stand for. Overall, music has played a significant role in shaping the way I view the world. It has taught me how to process my emotions, brought me closer to others, broadened my perspective, and helped me to develop a sense of identity. I am grateful for the role music has played in my life and will continue to use it as a way to connect with others and to understand the world around me.

Jeannine Schroeder Women in Public Service Memorial Scholarship
I can work to address important social issues by requiring a multi-faceted approach that involves both individual and collective action. One way to address social issues is to get involved in community service projects. This can include volunteering at a food bank, homeless shelter, or community center. By volunteering, individuals can help to provide essential services to those in need, while also building relationships with people from different backgrounds and gaining a deeper understanding of the issues that affect their community. Another way to address social issues is to donate money or resources to organizations that are working to address those issues. For example, if an individual is concerned about poverty, they can donate money to an organization that provides food, housing, or job training to people in need. Similarly, if an individual is concerned about environmental issues, they can donate money to an organization that works to protect the environment or promote sustainability. In addition to volunteering and donating, individuals can also work to raise awareness about social issues. This can be done through social media campaigns, public speaking, or other forms of advocacy. By raising awareness, individuals can help to educate others about the issues that affect their community and encourage them to take action. Another way to address social issues is to work with local policymakers to advocate for change. This can involve attending town hall meetings, contacting elected officials, or participating in public demonstrations. By working with policymakers, individuals can help to shape policies and laws that address the root causes of social issues. Finally, individuals can address social issues by examining their own behavior and making changes that promote social justice and equality. This can include being mindful of the products they buy, the companies they support, and the language they use. By making conscious choices, individuals can help to create a more just and equitable society. In conclusion, addressing social issues requires a multi-faceted approach that involves individual and collective action. Whether through community service, donations, awareness-raising, advocacy, or personal change, every individual has the power to make a difference in their community and the world. By working together, we can create a more just and equitable society for all. Some examples include poverty, inequality, climate change, access to education and healthcare, discrimination, and social justice. Each of these issues has complex root causes and requires a multi-faceted approach to address. For example, poverty may be caused by a lack of access to education, job opportunities, or affordable housing. Addressing poverty may require interventions that address these root causes, such as job training programs, affordable housing initiatives, or policies that promote economic growth. Similarly, addressing climate change may require individual behavior change, policy interventions, and technological innovations. The key to addressing social issues is to understand the root causes and develop strategies that address them in a comprehensive and sustainable way.

    Cariloop’s Caregiver Scholarship
As a caregiver, I have had the opportunity to experience the joys and challenges of caring for someone who needs assistance. My caregiving experience has been a transformative journey that has impacted my personal growth and identity in profound ways. When I first began my caregiving journey, I had no idea what to expect. I was caring for my grandmother who had been diagnosed with dementia. At first, I was overwhelmed by the amount of work that needed to be done and the emotional toll that it took on me. However, as time went on, I began to see the positive impact that I was making on my grandmother's life. I was able to provide her with the care and attention that she needed, and I could see the difference that it made in her overall well-being. Over time, my caregiving experience has become a defining part of my identity. It has taught me the importance of patience, empathy, and compassion. As a caregiver, I have learned to put the needs of others before my own and to be present at the moment. I have also learned to be resilient in the face of adversity and to appreciate the small moments of joy that come with caregiving. However, caregiving has not been without its challenges. There have been moments of frustration, exhaustion, and stress. It can be difficult to see a loved one struggle with illness or disability and to feel powerless in the face of their suffering. It can also be challenging to balance caregiving with other responsibilities, such as work or family obligations. Despite these challenges, my caregiving experience has been a source of personal growth and fulfillment. It has taught me to be more patient, kind, and understanding. It has also helped me to develop a deeper sense of empathy and to appreciate the value of human connection. Through caregiving, I have learned that the most meaningful experiences in life are often the ones that require sacrifice and selflessness. In conclusion, my caregiving experience has been a transformative journey that has impacted my personal growth and identity in profound ways. It has taught me the importance of compassion, empathy, and resilience, and has helped me to appreciate the value of human connection. While caregiving can be challenging, it is also one of the most rewarding experiences that a person can have. To make the program more sustainable, you could use eco-friendly cleaning products, provide organic or locally-sourced meals, and encourage guests to reuse towels and linens. For marketing, you could create a social media campaign that promotes sustainable products and services. The campaign could use influencers or user-generated content to showcase sustainable products or services and provide information on the environmental benefits of using them. You could also partner with local businesses to develop marketing strategies that highlight their sustainable practices and products. This would help raise awareness about sustainable living and encourage people to make more environmentally-friendly choices.

Volunteering has been a life-changing experience for me. It has opened my eyes to the world around me and helped me develop a new perspective on life. I have had the opportunity to work with people from all walks of life and have learned that everyone has a unique story to tell. This experience has helped me develop a greater sense of empathy and compassion for others. Volunteering has also helped me become more self-aware. Through my work with various organizations, I have discovered my strengths and weaknesses. I have learned that I have a passion for helping others and that I am capable of making a difference in the world. This experience has given me the confidence to pursue my dreams and has shown me that anything is possible if I am willing to work hard. In addition to the personal growth that I have experienced through volunteering, I also need this scholarship financially. My family has been struggling financially for several years, and it has been difficult for me to pursue my education without financial assistance. This scholarship would provide me with the support that I need to continue my studies and achieve my goals. I am working myself to go through the nursing program in my 2 year college (I am going for my associate’s degree and then transferring to a 4 year school to achieve my bachelor’s degree) and I hope to win this scholarship in order to pay for my tuition and other expenses. This scholarship is going to help me make it through college and how I will graduate without any debt in my account. Nursing has been my passion since the day I was born. I love to help people and making sure they are in their best fit for their life. Nursing will help me and my family proud, as well as my future patients. Even though it might not be as easy as it is, this scholarship can help me go through financially and emotionally. I am committed to making a positive impact in the world, and I believe that this scholarship will help me achieve that goal. With the financial support of this scholarship, I will be able to focus on my nursing studies and continue to volunteer in my community. I am grateful for the opportunity to apply for this scholarship and appreciate your consideration. This scholarship will mean a lot to me since I do a lot of volunteering since middle school.

A person that I admire is my father, and he inspired me to pursue further education because he wasn't able to attend college due to the cost of it. He teaches me many things about the outside world and how I will need to be independent financially. He inspires me to do good in a career that I will hopefully enjoy doing. Deciding to participate in a speech and debate or mock trial can be a life-changing decision. Both activities provide students with valuable skills such as public speaking, critical thinking, and teamwork. Through my participation in debate, I have learned about important social and political issues, and I have become passionate about advocating for change. I have also learned about the importance of civil discourse and respectful disagreement, and I have developed a greater appreciation for the diversity of opinions and perspectives in our society. In addition to the personal benefits that I have gained from participating in speech and debate, I have also had the opportunity to compete at the state and national levels. These competitions have allowed me to meet other students from around the country who are passionate about debate and advocacy. They have also helped me to develop a greater appreciation for the hard work and dedication that is required to be successful in these activities. As a recipient of the SSG Valdez Memorial Scholarship, I understand the significance of the sacrifice that SSG Valdez made for our country. I am honored to have the opportunity to carry on his legacy and contribute to his attributes through my own actions and achievements. One sacrifice that I have made in order to pursue my education and contribute to SSG Valdez's legacy is financial. Like many students, I have had to take out loans and work multiple jobs in order to pay for tuition, books, and other expenses. However, I believe that this sacrifice is worth it in order to achieve my goals and honor SSG Valdez's memory. Another sacrifice that I have made is time. Pursuing higher education is a time-consuming process, and it requires a great deal of dedication and hard work. I have had to sacrifice time with friends and family, as well as other activities that I enjoy, in order to study, attend classes, and complete assignments. However, I believe that this sacrifice is necessary in order to achieve my goals and make a positive impact on the world. In addition to these sacrifices, I have also worked hard to develop the attributes that SSG Valdez embodied. These attributes include leadership, dedication, and a commitment to service. I have volunteered with several organizations, including Habitat for Humanity and the local food bank, in order to give back to my community and help those in need. I have also taken on leadership roles in various clubs and organizations, including serving as the president of the student government association. Through these experiences, I have developed a deep appreciation for the sacrifices that others have made, including SSG Valdez. I am committed to carrying on his legacy by embodying the same attributes that he did, and by making a positive impact on the world through my own actions and achievements. I believe that the SSG Valdez Memorial Scholarship is not just a financial award, but a symbol of the sacrifice and dedication that he made for our country. I am honored to be a part of that legacy, and I will work hard to ensure that his memory lives on through my own achievements and contributions to society. These sacrifices include financial and time commitments, as well as a dedication to developing the attributes that he embodied. I am honored to be a recipient of the SSG Valdez Memorial Scholarship, and I am committed to carrying on his legacy through my own achievements and contributions to society.

As a non-traditional student, I have a unique perspective on the value of education and the importance of pursuing one's passions. Unlike many of my peers, I did not take the traditional path from high school to college. Instead, I spent several years working in various industries, gaining valuable experience and exploring my interests. It was only after several years that I realized that I wanted to pursue higher education and continue learning. What makes me a non-traditional student is my age and life experience. I'm not fresh out of high school, nor am I in my early twenties. I have a career and a family, and I'm pursuing higher education while balancing those responsibilities. This comes with its own set of challenges, but I believe that my unique perspective and life experience bring value to the classroom. What drives me to do more is a desire to learn and grow. I'm passionate about my field of study and I'm excited to deepen my knowledge and explore new ideas. I'm also driven by a desire to set an example for my children and show them the value of education. I want to instill in them a love of learning and a desire to pursue their passions, no matter what obstacles they may face. Another factor that drives me to do more is a desire to make a positive impact on the world. I believe that education is a powerful tool for change, and I'm excited to use my knowledge and skills to make a difference. Whether it's through research, advocacy, or direct action, I want to use my education to create positive change in my community and beyond. Finally, I'm driven by a desire to challenge myself and push my limits. Pursuing higher education is not easy, especially when balancing work and family responsibilities. But I believe that the rewards are worth the effort. By pushing myself to do more, I'm growing as a person and developing new skills and abilities that will serve me well in all areas of my life. In conclusion, what makes me a non-traditional student is my age, life experience, and unique perspective. I'm driven to do more by a desire to learn and grow, set an example for my children, make a positive impact on the world, and challenge myself to push my limits. While pursuing higher education is not always easy, I believe that the rewards are worth the effort and I'm excited to continue on this journey of learning and growth.

I volunteered in a nursing program and it has impacted me greatly on my skills and how I will function out in the world. Over the years, I've volunteered in a variety of different settings, from working with kids to serving meals at a homeless shelter. Here are some of the things that volunteer service has taught me about myself. 1. The power of empathy: One of the most important things I've learned through volunteering is the power of empathy. When you work with people who are different from you, whether it's because of their age, background, or life circumstances, it's easy to make assumptions and judgments. But when you take the time to listen to their stories and understand their perspectives, you can develop a deep sense of empathy for them. Volunteering has taught me that empathy is a powerful tool for building connections and creating positive change in the world. 2. The importance of community: Another thing that volunteer service has taught me is the importance of community. When you volunteer, you become part of a community of people who are all working towards a common goal. Whether it's building a playground or serving meals at a soup kitchen, you're all working together to make a positive impact on the world. This sense of community can be incredibly powerful, and it's something that I've come to value deeply. 3. The value of hard work: Volunteering can also teach you a lot about the value of hard work. When you're volunteering, you're often doing physical labor or working long hours for no pay. But despite the challenges, it can be incredibly rewarding to see the impact that you're making. Volunteering has taught me that hard work can be its own reward and that the satisfaction of making a difference in the world is worth the effort. 4. The importance of flexibility: Another thing that volunteer service has taught me is the importance of flexibility. When you're working with a diverse group of people in a fast-paced environment, things don't always go according to plan. But being able to adapt to changing circumstances and work with others to find solutions can be incredibly valuable. Volunteering has taught me that flexibility is a key skill in any setting and that being able to roll with the punches is an important part of being successful. 5. The joy of giving back: Finally, volunteering has taught me about the joy of giving back. When you're volunteering, you're not doing it for money or recognition. You're doing it because you

As a parent, one of the most important things you can do for your children is to lead by example. Children learn by watching the people around them, so if you want your kids to be self-motivated, resilient, and determined, you need to model those traits yourself. Here are some ways that you can paint a good example for your children through self-improvement and determination. 1. Set goals and work towards them: One of the best ways to teach your children about determination is to set goals for yourself and work towards achieving them. Whether it's learning a new skill, getting in shape, or pursuing a career change, make sure your kids see you working hard towards your goals. When they see you struggling and persevering, they'll learn that it's possible to overcome obstacles and achieve great things through hard work and determination. 2. Prioritize self-care: Another important aspect of self-improvement is taking care of yourself. Make sure your kids see you prioritizing your mental and physical health by getting enough sleep, exercising regularly, and taking time for yourself to do things you enjoy. When your kids see you taking care of yourself, they'll learn that it's important to prioritize self-care in order to be happy and healthy. 3. Embrace failure: Failure is a natural part of the learning process, and it's important for kids to learn that it's okay to fail sometimes. When you encounter setbacks or failures, use them as an opportunity to model resilience and determination. Talk to your kids about how you're feeling, what you learned from the experience, and how you plan to move forward. When your kids see you bouncing back from failure, they'll learn that it's possible to overcome setbacks and come out stronger on the other side. 4. Learn new things: Another way to model self-improvement is to make a habit of learning new things. Whether it's taking a class, reading a book, or trying a new hobby, make sure your kids see you constantly learning and growing. When your kids see you expanding your knowledge and skills, they'll learn that it's important to keep learning throughout your life to grow and improve. 5. Be kind to yourself: Finally, it's important to model self-compassion and kindness towards yourself. When you're working on self-improvement, it's easy to fall into the trap of self-criticism and negative self-talk. Make sure your kids see you treating yourself with kindness and compassion, just as you would treat another individual.

    Healthy Eating Scholarship
I believe it's important to have healthy eating habits because it provides the necessary nutrients to fuel the body and reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. When I practice healthy eating habits, I feel more energized and have better mental clarity. I also notice that my skin looks clearer and my digestion improves. Eating a balanced diet that includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats is essential for overall health and well-being. Fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that help protect the body from disease. Whole grains provide fiber, which aids in digestion and helps regulate blood sugar levels. Lean proteins such as chicken, fish, and tofu, provide essential amino acids that help build and repair muscle tissue. Healthy fats such as avocados, nuts, and olive oil, help improve heart health and reduce inflammation in the body. Making small changes to your diet can have a big impact on your health. For example, swapping out processed foods for whole foods, and reducing sugar and salt intake can help reduce the risk of chronic diseases. Eating a variety of foods is also important, as it ensures that you get all the necessary nutrients for optimal health. In addition to the physical benefits, healthy eating habits can also improve mental health. Studies have shown that a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, can help reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety. Eating a balanced diet can also improve sleep quality, which is essential for overall well-being. It's important to note that healthy eating habits should be balanced with physical activity. Moving along to another interest of mine, Heavy metal music, it is a genre that has been around for decades and has a loyal following of fans who appreciate its unique sound and style. I enjoy heavy metal music because of its high energy, intricate guitar riffs, and powerful vocals. It can be a great way to release stress and tension, and it has been shown to have a positive effect on mental health. Additionally, heavy metal music often addresses important social and political issues, providing a platform for artists to express their views and connect with their fans. Overall, heavy metal music is a powerful and exciting genre that has a lot to offer to those who appreciate its unique sound and style.

Health is a fundamental aspect of human life, and it is essential to maintain good health to lead a fulfilling life. Unfortunately, many people around the world face health challenges that can significantly impact their quality of life. However, there are many ways that individuals can contribute to improving the health of others. In this essay, I will discuss some of the ways that I can make a positive impact on the health of others. One of the most effective ways to improve the health of others is by promoting healthy habits, which can include things like encouraging people to eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, and get enough sleep. By promoting healthy habits, individuals can help to prevent chronic diseases like obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. Additionally, promoting healthy habits can help to improve mental health, which is an essential aspect of overall well-being. Another way that people can contribute to improving the health of others is by volunteering their time and resources. Many organizations and initiatives work to improve the health of people in need, and these organizations often rely on volunteers to carry out their work. For example, people can volunteer at hospitals, community health centers, and non-profit organizations that provide health services to underserved communities. By volunteering their time and resources, individuals can help to improve access to health care and services for people who might not otherwise have access to them. In addition to promoting healthy habits and volunteering, individuals can also contribute to improving the health of others by raising awareness about health issues. This can include things like sharing information about diseases, conditions, and treatments on social media, organizing events to raise awareness about specific health issues, and advocating for policies that promote good health. By raising awareness about health issues, individuals can help to reduce stigma and increase understanding about the challenges that people face when it comes to their health. Finally, individuals can contribute to improving the health of others by supporting research and development in the health field. This can include things like donating money to research organizations, participating in clinical trials, and advocating for policies that support research and development. By supporting research and development, individuals can help to advance our understanding of health issues and develop new treatments and cures for diseases. In conclusion, there are many ways that individuals can contribute to improving the health of others. By promoting healthy habits, volunteering, raising awareness, and supporting research and development, individuals can make a positive impact on the health of people in

Innovation is often born out of necessity, when faced with a problem, people are forced to think creatively and come up with new solutions. This was certainly the case for me, I saw a need for a product that did not yet exist. My father had recently been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, a condition that made it difficult for him to perform everyday tasks like buttoning his shirt. I wanted to help my father, but he couldn't find a product on the market that met his needs, so, I decided to create one himself. My solution was a button hook, a small tool that helps people with limited dexterity to button their shirts. The button hook is a simple device that consists of a small hook on one end and a handle on the other. To use it, you hook the button with the small end and pull it through the buttonhole. This makes it much easier for people with Parkinson's or other conditions that affect their dexterity to get dressed independently. My button hook was a game-changer for my father, and I soon realized that it could help many other people as well. I decided to start a business selling button hooks, and I quickly found that there was a huge demand for his product. People from all over the world were ordering my button hooks, and I was able to help many people who were struggling with similar issues. My story is a great example of how innovation can be born out of necessity, it's by identifying a problem and creating a solution, I was able to help not only my father but also many other people who were struggling with the same issue. His button hook is a simple but effective solution that has made a big difference in the lives of many people. This story also highlights the importance of empathy and compassion. I was able to see the world through my father's eyes and understand the challenges he was facing. This allowed me to create a product that truly met my father's needs and helped him to maintain his independence. By putting myself in his father's shoes, I was able to create a product that was not only effective but also meaningful. In conclusion, the button hook is a great example of how innovation can be used to solve a problem and help others. By identifying a need and creating a solution, I was able to make a difference in the lives of many people.

the lgbtq+ community is important because it represents a diverse range of individuals who have been historically marginalized and discriminated against. it is a community that is made up of people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and many other identities that fall under the lgbtq+ umbrella. this community is because it provides a safe space for people to express their gender and sexuality without fear of judgment or persecution. one of the most important aspects of the lgbtq+ community is its ability to provide support and acceptance for individuals who may have been rejected by their families or communities. many lgbtq+ individuals have experienced discrimination and violence, and it can be incredibly difficult to find a place where they can feel safe and accepted. the lgbtq+ community provides this space and allows people to connect with others who share similar experiences and struggles. this sense of community and belonging is essential for mental health and well-being. The LGBTQ+ community is also important because it promotes diversity and inclusion. By acknowledging and celebrating the differences among people, the LGBTQ+ community encourages others to do the same. This creates a more accepting and tolerant society where people are free to be themselves without fear of judgment or discrimination. This is especially important for young people who are still figuring out their identities and may be struggling to find acceptance from their peers. Another reason why the LGBTQ+ community is important is because it has led to significant social and political progress. Over the past few decades, the LGBTQ+ community has fought for and won many important rights, including the right to marry, adopt children, and serve openly in the military. These victories have helped to change the way that society views LGBTQ+ individuals and have paved the way for further progress in the future. Finally, the LGBTQ+ community is important because it represents a celebration of love and human connection. The relationships that exist within this community are just as valid and meaningful as any other, and they should be celebrated and respected. By promoting love and acceptance, the LGBTQ+ community is helping to create a world where everyone can feel valued and appreciated. In conclusion, the LGBTQ+ community is important for many reasons. It provides a safe space for people to express their gender and sexuality, promotes diversity and inclusion, leads to social and political progress, and celebrates love and human connection. By supporting and celebrating the LGBTQ+ community, we can create a more accepting and tolerant world where everyone can feel valued and appreciated.

Mental health is something I feel has always been something taboo, both growing up in my family household, as well as in society. I grew up not understanding how to talk about how I felt and if I felt pain or stress, I was expected to be strong enough to overcome those feelings on my own. I remember worrying I would get in trouble if I were crying. This difficult subject has since led to how I interact with my work, relationships and career pathways now. It was only a few years ago that I was driving alone on my way to a girl's weekend where I was so overwhelmed by stressors in life that I had a thought of driving off of the road. This was the first time a thought of this nature had popped into my head. Minute after minute of driving, I had a sinking sensation. I felt there was a bit of truth to the thought and was overcome by feelings of sadness, anger and confusion. I was so scared and alone with this thought and was worried. I cried hysterically, while still driving the winding mountain roads to the girl's weekend. I couldn't stop crying and I couldn't understand why I was so affected by this thought that I would never want to actually want to act upon. I'm not sure what happened next, but all of the sudden I felt a little rational again. I asked myself, "is this reason to call the suicide prevention hotline?" After some deep breaths and a few more minutes of sitting in my idling car on the side of the highway, I called up a friend. How lucky am I to have friends whom I feel I can reach out to with this sort of thing? I didn't understand what was happening, but I knew I was going to be able to be calmed down by a friend. So, I called her up and I told her everything, She was so respectful and understanding, What meant more to me than anything in that moment was that she trusted me. She had confidence that I was telling her the truth when I said "I think it's just a crazy thought and I could never do that to my loved ones or myself." Her trust in me made me feel safe in talking about the truth. She made me understand the importance of taking taboo subjects off the table and communicating with the ones you love. This interaction has since shaped how I approach talking about mental health with my friends. I am not afraid to share this experience or ones like it. I am open and honest about the resources I use to maintain a level of stability and healthy behavior around stress. I think that more people have suicidal thoughts, or ones like it than they're willing to admit. I have known people from my community who also act on these thoughts. I hope that one day access to normalizing mental health and therefore making people feel safe in talking about it will one day be. When we have compassion and empathy towards those dealing with mental health issues, we can take one step closer into making them feel heard and safe. Some people don't have a support system like I do, and this is why I want to serve people as a nurse in my future career. It is so important to have a health care system that approaches a person as a whole and not only treats injury or illness, but physiological treatment can go a long way as well. I hope to take my compassion for people into this new career path to make everyone feel safe when interacting with me.

I believe that society must change the way it responds to the problems of the disadvantaged. For too long, we have failed to address the root causes of poverty, inequality, and social exclusion, instead relying on band-aid solutions that do little to address the underlying issues. One of the key problems without the current approach is that it tends to blame the victims of poverty and disadvantage, rather than acknowledging the systemic factors that contribute to these problems. For example, we often hear rhetoric about "personal responsibility" and "self-sufficiency," without acknowledging how structural factors like racism, sexism, and economic inequality make it much harder for some people to succeed than others. Another problem with our current approach is that it tends to focus on short-term fixes, rather than long-term solutions. We might provide food or housing assistance to someone in need but fail to address the reasons why they are struggling in the first place. This means that people are often stuck in a cycle of poverty and disadvantage, with little hope of breaking free. So what needs to change? First and foremost, we need to acknowledge the systemic factors that contribute to poverty and inequality. This means addressing issues like racism, sexism, and economic inequality head-on, rather than ignoring them or blaming individuals for their struggles. We also need to invest in long-term solutions, such as education, job training, and affordable housing, that can help people build stable and fulfilling lives. In addition, we need to listen to and learn from the people who are most affected by poverty and inequality. Too often, policy decisions are made by people who have never experienced these problems firsthand, leading to solutions that are out of touch with the reality of people's lives. By centering the voices of the most marginalized and disadvantaged people in our society, we can create policies and programs that are truly effective and transformative. In conclusion, I believe that society must change its way of responding to the problems of the disadvantaged. By acknowledging the systemic factors that contribute to poverty and inequality, investing in long-term solutions, and centering the voices of the most marginalized people in our society, we can create a more just and equitable world for all. This means challenging the idea that success is only measured by wealth and status and instead valuing things like community, compassion, and solidarity. It requires ongoing commitment and investment, both from individuals and from society as a whole.

Future nurses, such as myself, will play a critical role in providing high-quality care to patients, helping to prevent illnesses and injuries, and educating patients and their families about health and wellness. I also have the opportunity to be there for people during some of the most challenging times in their lives and to help them heal and recover.
