Lo Easton's “Wrong Answers Only” Scholarship
      1. I deserve this scholarship because there was a time that a chimpanzee jumped out of a tree onto my shoulders and grabbed onto my hair so tight that to get it him off, they had to cut off chunks of my hair. I named him Marcus. 2. I am currently in the process of getting my bachelor's in psychology which I hope to eventually use to help Marcus through his abandonment issues. 3. After Marcus was released from my hair, I had to overcome the terrible new haircut that I had. In order to do this, I looked up salons in the area and booked an appointment to shave my head. I ended up loving my new do and wore it with confidence.
      Bold Mental Health Awareness Scholarship
I want to dedicate my life to helping myself and others conquer our mental health so we can strive for greater things. Mental health has always been a struggle for me. There have been times when mental health has caused me to adjust my life to fit the schedule my problems had. This is an exhausting way to live which many people encounter. I am currently working towards a bachelor's in psychology while improving the ways I view myself and my life. After this I plan to get my master's in social work so I can eventually become a social worker and help those in need with mental health and other struggles. People need to be heard in order to get help and better themselves. To address these needs practically I look at places in which a big need for mental health help is seen. Schools and Universities are some of these places. At universities I believe that if a group therapy session was made available at various times every day; students would be able to take the first step to individualized help or just find a support system. This could possibly be led by graduate psychology students at universities for extra credit in their classes or as an assignment. For me, starting the journey of finding help for mental health was my biggest challenge. It can be daunting and frightening; a group like this could be an easier and more assessable first step for college students.
