I've had lots of time at home during the pandemic...so I've written some original pieces. My girlfriends have been hurt in their relationships so I wanted to right something that could show the girls saying "Not to Today" and moving on with their lives.

Majoring in Music Business is extremely important to me. Although I am first and foremost a singer, songwriter and performer, I feel strongly about learning the technical elements of the music industry before going into the performing side. I want to be able to have the knowledge and skills so that I can provide these important services for myself and other performers as a recording artist and songwriter. I have the intellect, drive and desire to excel in my artistry. I feel very passionate about making others feel something when they listen to me sing. I only first thought about how much of an impact I could have on people when I used to dance. I was around 13 or 14 and was performing with my dance company. After the performance, I walked off stage and an elderly woman stopped me and said, “I really connected to your dancing. You reminded me of my childhood.” This response to my dancing definitely changed my outlook on what I could do with my artistry. I did not realize the extent to which I could impact somebody else in this way. I now find this concept one of the most valuable things that I can achieve. It makes me feel that I am accomplishing something bigger than myself; I want to take part in something that has the power to change perspectives, emotions and possibly lives. I would like to continue training, perfecting and discovering more about my craft. A scholarship would be an opportunity for me to pay it forward and help other people by simply doing something that I love. I'm really praying for a scholarship to help me go to college. I'll make you proud! On a personal note, I'm a Christian and active member of Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church. I've sang in the Children's Choir, Young Adult Choir and been a part of the KNK Trio singing group. I was also a member of our Praise Dance team. In school I auditioned and was selected to be a member of my schools acapella group Triple Trio and am now one of the Co-Heads for the group. I'm also a member of the Concert Choir and have performed with these groups and solo performances during school assemblies and events. I think I've been a good role model to my cousins, two of them have followed me to Hopkins, a private and academically rigourous school and they are also active in church and school activities. I was a little like a fish out of water in school because many of my friends want to be doctors, lawyers, and engineers. While I'm smart enough to be in those professions my true passion is music. If I receive scholarship money I will be able to attend the University of my choice - that has a Music Business major and I can surround myself with other passionate artists that want to impact our world through music. I decided not to go to a music only school. I think artists need to be more business savvy and that is why I wanted to focus on music and business combined. This will help me with my career but I could also help other artists. I may decide to go to law school and major in the entertainment industry to further advance my ability to work for myself and build a business of helping others. I would like to continue training, perfecting and discovering more about my craft. Legacy is to leave something lasting that will outlive you. It is a blessing if you are fortunate enough to leave your family a legacy of traditions. Like family game night; or working in the soup kitchen together. Others may think of leaving wealth as a legacy and if you can that is great. But money can come and go but memories last forever. So my legacy would be to conjure up good feelings and memories when people hear a song I wrote or a song I sang. That is why I want to major in Music Business.
