Billie Eilish Fan Scholarship
Insecurity could be used in an example such as this one: getting kicked on the back of your leg repeatedly, harder and harder each time, but not falling—just limping. But as the kicks get harder, you eventually fall. This can coincide with the lyric “But I know you too well,” as it hints at emotional exhaustion. Billie Eilish does an amazing job with her song “idontwannabeyouanymore” as it aligns with insecurity and self-hatred. As I said in the example, when we are insecure, it’s like getting kicked on the back of the leg a bunch of times and not falling, limping just feeling the pain of each kick worsen until you had enough and fall. If you let the negative thinking in and shut the positive thoughts out, you become numb, never falling just limping until you eventually had enough and fall, just like Billie, you want to leave and escape, but you can’t because it’s yourself.
“They don’t deserve you.” Wow. Honestly, the song “Everything I Wanted” hits me hard in the heart because when you work so hard alone, struggle alone, and do everything for everyone, such as trying to be nice and giving, it hurts when they still treat you like the same mess, as if you didn’t do anything. This is like how, in the song “Everything I Wanted,” Billie Eilish does something, and it goes unnoticed, which honestly hurts a lot. You feel as if no one truly cares, but then God sends you that one person whom you never suspected you needed.
“I’ve been walkin’ through a world gone blind” (a lyric in Billie Eilish’s song “Ocean Eyes”). Us humans only live in one world, and that is our world. Most human beings do not care or pay attention to the lives of others; they only care about their problems and themselves, as they’re caught up in their own things. As Billie said, “gone blind,” it gives a meaning to me, as when we are in a toxic area, we really do go blind—we cannot see the true beauty of anything. We only see what we think we see and hear, not what is true. Sometimes humans look on the outside for the problem but never on the inside. And when you finally look inside and stop caring about the outside, you become the outsider.
