My mom has been a i influence in every thing I do 4 months ago I was in college away from home but I have a mild break down and I went back home, my mom supported me and everything but I felt like a failure after everything I was overwhelmed by classes and my roommates arguing and not getting the best grades and getting excepted at the last moment and moving in a week after everyone else and being behind getting a then someone one stilling my bike so I left the state to live with my brother on my dads side in Texas it was kinda like my second time meeting him because he would visit us when we were little because our dad , he basically had 7 kids that we know of and only talks to two of them he says he’s sick and he can’t help or he can’t come see us and my mom have 3 kids 2 in college and she’s been taking care of us for almost 19 years by herself for all these years but now I’m back and all I wanna do is learn I wanna learn new things I wanna make new things and I want people to love what I do too , my mom is currently paying off my school with a few cards so I won’t go into dept and one day when I i do something great she’s the first one that’s going to get the thanks for being there and feeding us when she didn’t have everything and idk I just think she can do it all he clothed fed , cleaned , taught and paid for everything and she’s still doing all of it while me and my brother are in college , she’s been telling me to apply for scholarships but I’ve been trying , it’s a lot to wright but I thinks mentally my moms has the best talk when you need help or need to figure thinks out or when ur angry and u jump to do things , she’s just smart and teaches me from the mistakes she’s done when she was my age . All in all my mom is the one who’s helped me with everything and I will forever be grateful for the stuff she’s done for me and my brothers even though she babies one and he’s 19 but he’s great

Hi, my name is Kai White ,I graduated from university prep for art and design and I’m currently looking to attend ccs in the fall In my spare time I enjoy playing basketball in skateboarding I also enjoy painting sketching and pottery and a little anime tv shows. I’ve learned a little can go a long way. I believe my artist skills are different from others I have to feel something that I want to paint and I love to be different from the rest, something different from my art is even though I wasn’t gifted my skill they are real skills I believe . I taught myself through the pandemic and thru everything that was going on through 2020 and 2021 I think teaching myself something different made me feel confident and what I did and what to do in the future it makes me able to look in the future and say I can do this because I’ve taught myself something that I’m so proud of I will take it to college and I will focus on it and I will learn or teach myself something new because that’s my passion that’s why I wanna go with it and that’s why I will go through with it. I will be able to innovate and show my artist skills currently and After I graduate, I wanna first be able to help any youth that is going through anything at a young age like I was so I want to open a gallery in my hometown in any other towns and I wanna make hundreds of paintings on emotion and anything else and show the youth that they’re not alone because even though the people that inspired me are not here today, I want to be able to help the youth as they did for me.
Ethel Hayes Destigmatization of Mental Health Scholarship
Ive had a lot going on with my mental health in the past 2 to 3 years which has had me to be my own therapist in some kind of way and I found out that my goal is helping others with their mental health . Specifically with the youth in my hometown Detroit . I have found out that a lot of people that are my age are going through similar things like I am , but they haven’t discovered the things out that I have , what The inspiration for my goals and art are Two black artist one a musician and one a painter , they both went through extreme pain at a young age The first was name XXXTENTACION & Jean Michel Basquat . Unsimilar but very similar . They both are not with us today , but what they did was spread their emotion through Music and arts so others can know that they’re not alone , I want to be a better version of them for my generation . So I currently know part of my goal and how my mental health has shaped it , but when it comes to relationships and the understanding of this world , I’m still figuring it out. But I will figure it out , Thank you

    Bold Bravery Scholarship
I wasn’t known for being a bold person but I wanted to be, so I would do things that I wouldn’t usually do to make myself even bold if I didn’t wanna raise my hand in class I would once I’m a while and ask a question in class. I would and still will do things to make myself more both more confident because I’ve noticed confident people get what they want and I want to be better than I was last yesterday and if those little acts of boldness will get me there I'm going to do. Once in a while, I will try to meet a new person. After all, I think meeting new people is scary because a lot of things go through my head, what if they don’t like me, what if I’m not cool, what if I stutter, I’ll take myself out of my comfort zone and try to introduce myself.

My name is Kai White, and I’m showing the story of my name and what it means to me, my first name is Kai and when people first hear my name they assumed that it’s some nickname and even ask me if that really your real name, some people even went out their way to give me a longer name because They thought it was funny or something, but they gave me a name like Kailand , they tried other names because they were trying to guess the name that they thought I had and they were trying to make up a name because at the time they thought it was funny. What does the power of my name mean to me, I look at my first and last name as a very empowering name that was given to me, and even though I love my name now it wasn’t always that way when I was younger my name is seen as a disadvantage to me and even though I’m a part of the black community when I was younger people of my community didn’t see me as such. I am known for being a light-skinned individual in even though I love that about myself other people didn’t like that about me because of my last name, They will make assumptions and say how’s your last name white and you look like that or say things like didn’t your parents know, and even though I kept everything they said inside, I loved my last name eventually people tried to make me not like my last name. The power of A name and the power of my name, The power of a name has a lot to do with a person The way a person says the name also shows who a person is and what they really want if a person says their name with extreme power, you know that person sees their self as a Confident individual and who they are so if it doesn’t most people change it but my name is specific shows where I came from and where I will go and what I will do in future. This was a great question, right when I read this question I automatically knew what I wanted to say, and I'm finally able to finish this chapter, and I’m finally able to share the story that I was never able to tell. Thank you for letting me Finally tell my story

The two greatest influences in my life are Jean Michael Basquiat and XXXTENTACION, The second person that I’ve chosen is X I’ve learned that you can’t judge a book by its cover from a young age he is a very unusual character but over the years he shows me that his music makes you appeal and connect your emotion and he can sing one emotional song and can connect to millions of people he has angry and sad songs but he shows them in his music and I want to be able to show that in my art. Jean Michael Basquiat was a New York artist known for painting and graffiti he showed some of his emotions through Art but he used a different kind of art than x he used painting and sketching and graffiti to show how he was feeling. I will be able to innovate and show my artist skills after I graduate, I wanna first be able to help any youth that is going through anything at a young age like I was so I want to open a gallery in my hometown in any other towns and I wanna make hundreds of paintings on emotion and anything else and show the youth that they’re not alone because even though the people that inspired me are not here today, I want to be able to help the youth as they did for me. I’ve learned a little can go a long way. What makes my artist skills different from others is I have to feel something that I want to paint and I love to be different from the rest, something different from my art is even though I wasn’t gifted my skill or any real skill of art from the beginning, I taught myself through the pandemic and thru everything that was going on through 2020 and 2021 I think teaching myself something different made me feel confident and what I did and what to do in the future it makes me able to look in the future and say I can do this because I’ve taught myself something that I’m so proud of I will take it to college and I will focus on it and I will learn or teach myself something new because that’s my passion that’s why I wanna go with it and that’s why I will go through with it.

I honestly believe everyone is different. I'm a light skin woman in an all African American family who's also in the lgbtq community and as a kid I was always different from my classmates. I eventually learned that the more ways I'm different from others is good because it helps me stand out . the year is 2022 and everyone wants to be the same they want to be a rapper , singer , actor , model and influencer , but I believe I can be a influence by just being different and truly speaking my mind when needed I intend to be an architect because I can help the community and peoples life without social media and popularity and being famous , I didn't come from a family with the most money or barely any at all but I don't believe that will be the way to bring me down. I truly want to be an architect and an entrepreneur and I will succeed . Confidence is key.
