The quality the I value more in myself would be the patients that I have. It has gotten me very far in life so far especially working in the medical field. I worked as a certified nursing assistant in the Alzheimer’s and dementia unit. This was the hardest job I have had so far and I do not regret it one bit. I learned so much about myself and how patient I am when working with the elderly. You have to have a lot of self control when working with a dementia patient, because it can be frustrating at some points, but you always have to remember that they are there for a reason and need you help and appreciate that you are there for them. I just remember working on arts and crafts with them and listening to all their stories about when they were younger and realizing how much times have changed, but at the same time realizing that they still think they are that young and that can go out and do different activities and it really gets to you. Almost brings a tear to your eye knowing that they will never be able to for example go golfing again because they are having a hard time walking. Another quality I have as I mentioned above is that I am a good listener. I have such good hears for hearing people and giving quality feedback. A lot of people come to me just to talk and see how I feel about different situations. In my life long journey I believe that I will use both of these qualities a lot. Especially using it in the medical field. I am going to school right now to become an LPN. I later on in life want to have my BSN as a registered nurse, but that wont happen for a few years. I cannot wait to become a nurse because it can be so rewarding. I will say though that I will have to be a good listener and be very patient in this career because healing does take a long process and you have to be a good listener to listen to the doctors on what orders you should be taking. I am excited to continue my journey and cannot wait to see where I end up and all the people that I meet. Here’s to many more years to come and a life long journey or working in the medical field.

If I won this $1000 I would put this towards my education expenses. I am going to school to become an LPN at Bryant and Stratton. This college runs in trimester and it is very expensive. Thank goodness to financial aid that I am able to attend this college. Without that I would be stuck with a lot of personal loans. I plan to use this to pay off my out of pocket costs for the program. Any little bit would help me out since I come from a low income household. I can not wait to see what my future holds for me and what I plan to achieve in the next year when I graduate college in April of 2023. I plan to work in a hospital or a clinic setting. I am excited to help others and be the best LPN I could possibly be. To me the medical field is a very important career choice. It is rewarding but can be challenging at points. I am ready for the challenge and everything this career may bring me. After this program that I am taking now I do plan on going back to school to become a registered nurse. Knowing that I will help save lives is a big decision I had to make. Becoming a nurse has been my goal for a long time now and I am ready to finish school and get into the field and start working.

When I was in high school I hated the sound of the medical field, I wanted nothing to do with it. I thought I wanted to do business management until I realized that career was not for me. In 2019 I moved into a different city away from my parents and found a job at a nursing home working as a residents assistant. I thought I would hate it but I would give it a shot in the dark. News to me..... I feel in love. Head over heels in love. Ever since then my goal was to become a registered nurse. I have been trying to pursue that for the past year now and I'm loving every second of it. After being a resident's assistant for a couple of months I wanted more. I then took a class to become a certified nursing assistant. I loved the hands on and seeing how happy people were to receive help when they could not do it themselves, that's when I knew I wanted to keep going into nursing and grow. My first step for my goal is to become a LPN, which is what I will be starting here in May and graduating in April of 2023. I am so excited to start and finally get into nursing classes. I am in for a lot with this career, but I could not be more excited to give back and help others.

When I was in high school, I wanted nothing to do with the health care field. I hated the sight of blood, and I did not think I was fit to help people, because I could barely help myself with how busy I was with sports and academics. In high school I was even offered the opportunity to be in a health care program and achieve my CNA nut I did not think I would like it because I saw how hard my sister worked as a CNA and I thought sitting at a desk would be more my style. I started my college career going for business but found out it was not for me. I could not see myself sitting at a desk all day and looking at a computer school calculating numbers. Even at this current moment I am an office assistant because it works best with school, and I just can’t get myself to sit around all day I want to be up and moving around. It wasn't until 2019 when I found out how much I loved health care. I moved out of my parents’ house and needed a job, so I found one at a local nursing home and was a resident’s assistant. I absolutely fell in love and wanted to keep going. I became a CNA in 2019 and I wanted to go back to school to become a nurse. Now, I am currently enrolled in nursing school, and I am loving every minute of it. I want to be a pediatric nurse because I love the thought of working with babies. I cannot wait to have one, one day for myself. To me I find pediatrics very important, not only being the nurse that takes care of one’s baby after it is born but knowing you are helping with this big accomplishment in someone’s life is very thrilling. I also find it interesting that you could possibly see a child that was born all the way up to the time they are 18. It would be so sentimental to see a child grow up that you have been taking care of forever. I love health care and everything little aspect of it and can't wait to see what it has in store for me, and I am excited to start learning more about a pediatric nursing. I am also excited to see what I can accomplish starting nursing school this May.
