Bio

I am a persistent, dedicated, and strong-minded individual interested in continuing my education and athletic career at a university. I am a part-time student enrolled at my local community college for my first year of post-secondary education. Currently, I am studying for an Associate of General Studies degree with an emphasis in business. This fall, I plan to transfer into a business management and marketing major to work towards a bachelor’s degree at Simpson College in Indianola, IA, where I was recently recruited to join their inaugural women’s gymnastics team. I am an incredibly hard-working individual, and when I put my mind to something, there is no chance that I will allow adverse circumstances to keep me from my goals. I believe that my mindset controls my life, and if I work hard and believe I can achieve my dreams, then the universe will provide my desired outcome. I am proud to be a strong athlete; training 20 hours a week while maintaining solid grades, managing a part-time job and daily life. For work, I coach gymnastics to younger children and also participate in an internship. I believe that I am a strong candidate for many scholarships, as I have the grit and mentality to show what it takes to be a well-rounded student and grounded individual. I appreciate any consideration and would love the opportunity to prove myself further.

MY PASSION: GYMNASTICS Since I was three years old, I have been in gymnastics; it's been my career, and I will soon join a college women's gymnastics team at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. Throughout my gymnastics career, I have been with the same gym family at Motion Matrix in Grants Pass, Oregon. Over the years, I have participated in numerous activities through Motion Matrix, including fundraisers, special events, and sanctioned meets. Now, aside from my gymnastics training, I also coach gymnastics classes. Growing up with no siblings, I never felt that I could be an older figure for young children to look up to; however, many of my student's parents express how much their kids look up to me. My students make me feel like I am an inspiration and role model. Being a part of the Motion Matrix gym family allows me to feel closer with my team and the students enrolled at the gym. Motion Matrix has nearly 800 children enrolled in different classes, and I have an opportunity to impact them each day. Often, it can be challenging and draining to work with kids, as the job usually requires a great deal of patience. I must teach manners, listening skills, oral learning, and repetition while keeping kids engaged and focused on gymnastics. While coaching, the children are my responsibility until they walk off the floor. Still, despite the job's challenges, kids and parents recognize my hard work and express their appreciation with compliments and gifts. Through coaching, children learn and grow, and whether my impact is significant or not, I recognize that I am shaping future generations. This recognition makes my job worthwhile and allows me to feel that I genuinely have a positive influence on the kids within the community. LIFE-CHANGING IMPACT Along with many others, the recent pandemic significantly impacted my life and the steps I had to take to accomplish my academic and athletic goals. When COVID hit, I was a junior in high school and unsure of my capability of making it to college for gymnastics. Being removed from training for several months because of quarantine caused my concerns to grow, and I began to doubt myself even more; I did not think I could come back as strong as I had once been. Despite these concerns, I kept pushing forward within the sport because I always felt there was more to achieve. My perseverance paid off when a few months into my senior year of high school, I was provided with the option to do one more year of club gymnastics if I enrolled in community college. I had never deemed this a possibility but ultimately took the opportunity. In doing this, I grew my skill set more within a year than I ever have in my entire gymnastics career. Despite the adverse circumstances of the pandemic, it opened many doors. I learned to stay persistent and determined throughout this time, which has shown me success and put me on the path to college gymnastics. Growing from a young gymnast to a collegiate gymnast is a huge milestone. I'm even further blessed to be able to share my love and knowledge of this sport to younger generations through coaching and activities and events held at our gym. The wonderful sport of gymnastics has shaped my character and made me the young woman I am today; I am forever grateful.

I believe that I am a strong candidate for many scholarships, as I have the grit and mentality to show what it takes to be a well-rounded student-athlete and individual. I especially believe that I am an excellent candidate for this entrepreneurship scholarship as I have dreamed of being a successful interior designer and owning my own business for many years, and I am finally on the path to achieving my goals. While studying for my degree, I intend to enroll in elective classes to enhance my skillsets, such as graphic design, art history, communications, and other courses to allow me to understand design aspects. My interior design internship also helps me gain more knowledge about the design field and has provided me with the chance to build a portfolio for future job opportunities. I am an incredibly hard-working individual, and when I put my mind to something, there is no chance that I will allow adverse circumstances to keep me from my goals. I believe that my mindset controls my life, and if I dream big and put in the effort, then the universe will provide my desired outcome. The most helpful life advice I've ever received is a quote from Confucius my mom likes to repeat, "If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life," and that is what I imagine being an entrepreneur is like; passionately devoted to work that is challenging, exciting, and yet, fulfilling, all at the same time. I feel hopeful and excited for what the future will bring and very much look forward to loving a career that brings me joy and success.
