The saying “practice makes perfect” rings true for most people, but growing up, my coaches always made sure to emphasize that not all types of practice allow for perfection; it’s perfect practice that creates a perfect performance. In the sport of gymnastics, you are taught from a young age that perfection is the key to success. As I went throughout my life, I understood that practicing bad habits cannot allow for success, but rather, a sloppy performance. Gymnastics then taught me how to be the best version of myself: disciplined, determined, and constantly striving for improvement. I have maintained this headstrong attitude all throughout grade school, and now in college, by involving myself in extracurriculars, work experience, and most notably, the high-pressure situation of competing in the sport of gymnastics. If any factor of my life demonstrates my strong desire for achievement, it is shown through my performance as an athlete. My interpersonal skills, drive to be a team-player, and capability to be a strong individual performer have all developed during my time as a gymnast, and these skills continue to grow. Now, as a student-athlete with one year left, I plan to grow these attributes even further and push to be the best version of myself that I can. I am confident that I can exceed expectations in my academics and go beyond my comfort zone to show what I am capable of, as I have countlessly proved this to be possible throughout my life.

Bold Dream Big Scholarship
I have dreamed of being a successful interior designer for many years now, and I am finally on the path to achieving my goals. I am currently enrolled at my local community college with the intent of transferring to a university this fall. My main reasoning for transferring after one year is to compete on a college gymnastics team, which has been a goal of mine ever since I was a young girl. I would love to have this opportunity and compete as a successful collegiate athlete before retiring from the sport and beginning my life. An ideal life after completing my education includes taking a design course online to become more familiar with design and moving to a big city to begin my career. I am currently involving myself in an interior design internship to gain more knowledge about the career and potentially build a portfolio for when I seek job opportunities or enrollment in educational programs. I hope to begin my career through a company, and eventually if the opportunity is provided, I could envision myself working independently. I feel hopeful and excited for what the future may provide regarding my future goals.
Bold Career Goals Scholarship
I have dreamed of being a successful interior designer for many years now, and I am finally on the path to achieving my goals. Currently, I am working towards a bachelor’s degree in business management and marketing to understand what it takes to work for or a business or own a company. While studying for my degree, I will take side classes that will benefit me, such as graphic design, art history, communications, and other courses that will allow me to understand aspects of design as well as how to run a business. I am currently involving myself in an interior design internship to gain more knowledge about the career, and hopefully build a portfolio for future job opportunities or educational programs. Upon graduating college, I intend to enroll myself in an online interior design course, as the university I hope to attend does not offer any courses or clubs that cover this career field. After completing my planned process, I intend to move to a bigger city and begin my career through a company or take initiative and open my own business. I will likely have more immediate success through initially working for a company, though as I become more familiar with the industry, I could envision myself taking on the opportunity to work independently. I feel hopeful and excited for what the future may provide regarding my future career goals.
Bold Success Scholarship
This upcoming fall, I plan to transfer to a university to further my academics and gymnastics career. Currently, I am completing a general studies program with an emphasis in business, but upon transferring, I will switch my major to business management and marketing; I also plan on minoring in graphic design. I have a strong desire to gain knowledge in business management, and receive my bachelor’s degree, because upon graduating college I hope to pursue a career in interior design. I have always been passionate about this career field, and it is exciting for me as I now am able to take the steps to pursue my goals. I am currently involving myself in an interior design internship to gain more knowledge about the career, and hopefully build a portfolio if I decide to take interest in a program at a university. If the university I attend does not offer classes for interior design, I will take side classes that will benefit me, such as graphic design, art history, communications, and other courses that will allow me to understand design and how to run a business. I will then enroll myself in an online interior design course to help myself further learn the fundamentals of design, as well as learn how to use the necessary programs to be successful. I have had the dream of competing on a gymnastics team in college, moving out of Oregon, and pursing interior design for so many years. I am the only person that could come in the way of my success, so I need to be my own inspiring factor to achieve my dreams.
Bold Persistence Scholarship
I have been a competitive gymnast my entire life, but for much of my career, I was set on retiring from the sport. I was competing and practicing poorly, and no longer enjoyed myself; I figured if I stopped putting my time and energy into something I hated, I could finally be happy. I thought I lacked the talent and grit that was required of me to be successful, and my negative mindset rolled over into my performance. I began struggling with depression and anxiety, and these feelings ultimately impacted my everyday life. Each school year, I approached with the mentality that it would be my last year as a gymnast. My sophomore year of high school, a new head coach was introduced to the team, who immediately noticed my insecurities. He attempted to get me to push past my struggles, but after weeks of trying, he decided to change his coaching approach and switch up my skill set. I realized that my issue with gymnastics was not that I lacked talent, but that my weaknesses were being brought to the table. After realizing that I was not a bad gymnast, and changing my mindset, I grew persistent and have become more successful than I had ever deemed possible. I have learned to strengthen my mentality and ability, which will ultimately allow for flourishment in my future.
