Bio

Hello, my name is Kadence McBride. I'm currently a Senior in high school. I've maintained a 4.0 GPA and have been on the honor roll for as long as I can remember. I'm a member of the National Honor Society and the Youth Philanthropy Club. Currently, I'm also taking College Credit Plus classes at Kent State University while still attending high school. After graduating in 2025, I'm interested in pursuing a Pharm D. degree and a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. I've been playing club soccer since I was young, representing teams like Erie Admirals, Peerless Soccer Academy, Internationals SC, Croatia Jr. , and Erie Commodores. Division doesn't matter to me as long as I get a quality education to help me succeed. I’m looking forward to going to college as I can play my favorite sport and learn the skills I need to be a successful Pharmacist.

    Women in Healthcare Scholarship
I have chosen to pursue a degree in healthcare because I am passionate about helping others and making a difference in people's lives. Throughout my life, I have been in and out of hospitals more times than I can count for more injuries than I can list. Each time I went into a hospital or the doctor's office, I felt listened to and comforted by the healthcare professionals. They made a difficult time more bearable, and I want to be able to do the same for others. I am particularly drawn to pharmacy because of the critical role pharmacists play in patient care. They are often the first point of contact for patients and can make a significant difference in their treatment and recovery. I want to be a part of that process, helping patients understand their medications and ensuring they use them safely and effectively. As a woman in the healthcare field, I hope to make a positive impact by providing compassionate care, advocating for patients' needs, and inspiring other women to pursue careers in healthcare. I believe that diversity in healthcare is crucial for delivering comprehensive and empathetic care to all patients. Women bring unique perspectives and skills that can improve patient outcomes and enhance the overall healthcare experience. I have always been a dedicated student, maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout high school. I am committed to continuing this level of academic excellence in college as I pursue my degree in pharmacy. I believe that my strong academic background and passion for healthcare make me a strong candidate for this scholarship. In addition to my academic achievements, I have a genuine desire to help others. I have volunteered at community health fairs, and blood drives where I have seen firsthand the impact that compassionate care can have on patients and their families. These experiences have only strengthened my resolve to pursue a career in healthcare and make a positive impact on the lives of others. I also hope to inspire other women to pursue careers in healthcare. The field is still male-dominated in many areas, and I believe that more women need to be encouraged to enter and excel in healthcare professions. By succeeding in my own career, I hope to show other young women that they too can make a difference in this field. In conclusion, I am passionate about pursuing a degree in healthcare because I want to help others and make a difference in their lives. As a woman in the healthcare field, I hope to provide compassionate care, advocate for patients' needs, and inspire other women to pursue careers in healthcare. I am committed to achieving academic excellence and making a positive impact on the lives of patients and their families. Thank you for considering my application for the Women in Healthcare Scholarship.

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.” - -Winston Churchill Growing up in the small town of Conneaut, Ohio, has shaped me in many ways, teaching me the importance of perseverance and resilience. One of the most significant challenges I faced was during my freshman year of high school when I tore my ACL for the first time. This injury was a major setback, especially since I play soccer year-round and travel to different states for the challenge. Despite the pain and the lengthy recovery process, I worked hard in physical therapy and returned to the field a year later, only to face the same injury again during my senior year. Even though I was not able to play the sport I attended every game and practice my team had; I was able to get experience through watching and supporting my teammates. Each time, I had to dig deep and find the strength to recover and continue pursuing my passion for soccer. Balancing my recovery with maintaining my grades and participating in extracurricular activities was not easy, but it taught me time management, responsibility, and the value of hard work. My experiences on the soccer field have instilled in me a gritty mindset, which I carry into my academic pursuits. I am deeply interested in obtaining a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry followed by a Pharm D. degree. To further my knowledge and experience in this field, I attended pharmacy camps and am actively seeking job opportunities that will help me with my career development and goals. These experiences have solidified my passion for the field of pharmacy and my determination to make a positive impact in the healthcare industry. Through these experiences, I have learned that grit is not just about working hard; it is about maintaining passion and perseverance in the face of adversity. It is about staying committed to your goals despite the obstacles that come your way. My experiences have taught me to be resilient, resourceful, and determined. I believe these qualities will serve me well in my academic pursuits and future career. In conclusion, I embody a gritty mindset through my ability to overcome challenges and remain focused on my goals. I am determined to continue my education and make a positive impact in my community. I am grateful for the opportunity to apply for this scholarship and appreciate your consideration. Thank you for your time and attention. Sincerely, Kadence McBride

Growing up, my dad always taught me that family should come first, and money stuff should come second. But sometimes, when money and family needs clash, it can be tough to balance. I grew up in a family of five, and my dad always managed to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table. It wasn't until middle school that I started to understand money and realized we didn't have a lot. Even with limited resources, my dad somehow covered all our expenses, including club soccer teams for my siblings and me, and even some of our wants. My dad works a full-time job from 8 AM to 4 PM, and then he runs a nonprofit from 5 PM to 8 PM. He makes about $22,000 a year, but he still manages to come to all our games, showing how much he cares about our family. His ability to handle everything while making sure family stays the top priority has really taught me what it means to put family first. Despite the money challenges, my dad's dedication and sacrifices have shown me that putting family first isn't about how much money you have, but the time, love, and support you give. Throughout my life, I’ve faced the adversity of growing up in a low income household. Although money was tight my dad still managed to make life the best it could be in our situation. I realized that although we couldn’t afford to get the new iPhone or go on vacations every year, we could be just as happy spending time together with the ones we love. These experiences have made me determined to spend time with my family and work hard to improve the lives of my future children. And no matter the income I will shower them with love and support. That’s why getting a scholarship would mean so much to me. It would help me succeed in my career and make enough money to support my future family. I want to be able to give them the same love, support, and time that my dad gave me, without the financial stress. A scholarship would be a huge step towards making that possible. My dad has shown me the importance of prioritizing family over financial concerns . With the help of this scholarship, I can follow his footsteps and ensure that my family never lacks the support, love, and time they deserve. This opportunity would not only help me achieve my career goals but also allow me to provide a stable loving environment for my loved ones.

“Everyone has to face inescapable challenges, but it’s up to you to decide if they are unattainable barricades or miniscule hurdles.” This quote first resonated with me when I tore my ACL and has remained a guiding principle through my second ACL tear. It taught me that every challenge is attainable; I just have to overcome the obstacles and leap over the hurdles. Personal development is incredibly important to me because it allows me to continually grow and improve myself, both personally and professionally. By focusing on personal development, I can build on my strengths, address my weaknesses, and become a more well-rounded individual. When I tore my ACL for the first time, it was a challenging and disheartening experience. However, I learned that even when physically disabled, I could still improve my game and continue learning. During my recovery, I focused on studying soccer strategies and game tactics, which helped me develop a deeper understanding of the sport. I also worked on my mental resilience and visualization techniques, imagining myself successfully executing plays and drills. My dad's encouragement and support were instrumental during this period, as he reminded me that growth isn’t limited to physical abilities. This experience taught me the importance of adaptability and perseverance, and it made me a better player in the long run. When I tore my ACL for the second time, it was even more challenging. Despite being sidelined, I made it a point to attend every single game and practice. Watching my teammates play and listening to my coaches' instructions allowed me to learn from a different perspective. I observed the intricacies of team dynamics, positioning, and decision-making on the field. This experience not only kept me connected to the sport I love but also deepened my understanding of the game. By staying involved and engaged, I realized that there are many ways to contribute and improve, even when not actively playing. These experiences have pushed me to set and achieve new goals in the rest of my soccer career and my professional life, demonstrating my commitment to continuous improvement and my ability to bounce back from setbacks. These setbacks taught me that just because you can not physically play the game, doesn’t mean you cannot still develop. On those two separate occasions I learned that to be successful you can’t think of setbacks as failures; rather, setbacks are just opportunities to grow, improve, and learn. Having my dad as my mentor has been a crucial part of my personal development. His unwavering guidance and support have helped me navigate through various challenges, such as choosing the right pathway and managing time effectively during high school. He paid for club soccer to help me improve my soccer skills, and even started his own academy for kids who wanted to get better but couldn’t afford club fees. Additionally, he funded my pharmacy camp so that I could explore and decide on the career I’m interested in. He consistently pushes me to work harder, both in school and on the soccer field. His wisdom and experience have not only shaped my values but also instilled in me the importance of perseverance and dedication. Thanks to his mentorship, I have learned that dedication and perseverance are what makes a good person great, and a great person greater. Overall, personal development is a lifelong journey, and I am committed to taking proactive steps to grow and improve in all areas of my life. Whether it's through education, overcoming hurdles, or seeking mentorship. I am dedicated to becoming the best version of myself in my future career.

My name is Kadence McBride, and I am from Conneaut, Ohio. As a dedicated student with a passion for Pharmacy, I have always strived to excel in both my academic and extracurricular pursuits. I am excited about the opportunity to further my education and make a meaningful impact in my community and beyond. Throughout my high school career, I have maintained a 4.0 GPA, while actively participating in various school clubs and community service projects. I have been a member of the National Honor Society and Youth Philanthropy clubs at my school, where I helped organize multiple events and projects including helping with H2O emissions. Additionally, I have volunteered at Peerless Soccer Academy , where I coached children 2-4 years of age in the wonderful sport of soccer. These experiences have taught me the importance of leadership, teamwork, and giving back to the community. My goal is to pursue a degree in Compounding Pharmacy at NEOMED. I am particularly interested in this field because unlike traditional pharmacy, which often involves dispensing mass produced medications, compounding pharmacy allows for the customization of medications to fit the specific needs of each patient. I feel that compounding pharmacy is an opportunity to make a tangible impact on patient health and well being. In the future, I hope to help patients in need and be able to compound medications that are suitable for patients needs. I believe that with the right education and opportunities, I can contribute to creating specialized medications and help solve a range of medication-related challenges and issues by providing customized solutions tailored to individual patients needs. However, the financial burden of attending college is a significant challenge for my family and me. We're a family of five with an annual income of around $20,000. All three of us kids play travel soccer, which adds to our expenses. My parents are doing their best to manage our finances, but it's a bit challenging with the costs of travel and equipment for soccer. We're cutting back on non-essential expenses and looking for ways to save money. Despite the financial strain, we're staying positive and while they have always supported my dreams, the cost of higher education is beyond our means. This scholarship would alleviate the financial stress and allow me to focus on my studies and extracurricular activities without the constant worry of how to pay for tuition, books, and other expenses. In conclusion, this scholarship would not only help me achieve my academic and career goals but also enable me to continue contributing to my community. I am committed to making the most of this opportunity and giving back in any way I can. Thank you for considering my application and for your support in helping students like me pursue their dreams.
