Dare to Dream Ever since I was a little girl I’ve been a big dreamer. I’ve had my life planned out since I was in high school due to how big I dream. The biggest area that I would dream about in my life was for events that I would want to have to celebrate my birthday or accomplishments year after year. I would begin to plan these big, limitless events but I could never have them because the dream seemed too big to others. So I decided that since I couldn’t make my own dream events come true, I could plan them for others. That’s when I decided to become an event planner. My purpose is to help people who dare to dream. When I dare to dream myself about living the life of my dreams I see pure peace, love and happiness. I see myself thriving in three specific areas that include but are not limited to my career, family, and financial stability. Career: In my career, I see myself thriving as an event planner having my own building that provides an office for client consultations and an in house venue to not only allow clients to host events with my company but to also showcase designs and model setups. This way, I can give my clients a visual representation of what their events could look like and give them the opportunity to have full range of deciding what that setup will be. I also see myself having a great work-life balance. Marriage and Family: In life I see myself marrying the man of my dreams while having the wedding of my dreams. I am very big on family so I will be bringing family together every chance I get to host family gatherings in my own home. I see my husband and I raising 3-5 beautiful children in a warm, loving home, with lots of land, in a nice area a little ways from the city. Financial Stability: Financial stability looks like wealth to me. It looks like being able to give my family everything that I couldn’t have and more. This looks like streams of income from my business and my husband’s business. I also will be able to send my children off to college without them having to worry about how to fund it, so that they can solely focus on the education aspect. Last but not least I strongly believe that when we have more than enough for ourselves it is so that we can bless others and since I’ve had people bless me with the right things at the right times I will be sure to bless others as well through opportunities like this by giving scholarships as often as I can! All in all, there is so much more to dream about but these three are the most important to me. I know that some day it won’t just be a dream anymore but it will morph into a reality. Thank you for allowing me to dare to dream.

My name is Julissa Fryer, I am currently a senior at Florida International university. My major is Hospitality Event Management and my career goal is to start my own business as an event planner/manager. Ever since the beginning of high school I’ve known that I like different types of events, so when I started to volunteer and get the experience I knew this is what I was meant to do. My entire high school years up until now I’ve been perfecting my skills in decorating, planning, and leading. In high school I was in a few programs that helped me get on track with my career and made me who I am today. One of them was the hospitality magnet program and being in that program helped me learn about hospitality in its entirety. I learned the different aspects, traits and skills you need to have while in this industry. The second program was a mentoring program for young ladies called K.I.C.S, which is an acronym for “Keeping it Classy Sisterhood”. In this program is where I learned a lot about the powers that us women bring to the world. I found my Independence, I became more confident in who I am, I was also reminded of my worth daily. Where I first learned about my worth was a ministry in my church called “ Worth the Wait”, which was also another girl empowerment group that taught us our worth from a spiritual standpoint but we didn’t only learn the obvious things to wait for, we learned about things that deserve our worth in this world. I believe that I am worth the school I attend, I am worth the scholarships to help me fund this school plus the experiences that it brings me and I am worth the business that I aspire to have, but I’m not just worth it someday I am worth it today I have volunteered at back to school events at my church helping the children in my community get the supplies they need for school. I made a positive impact while volunteering at at a food pantry drive up give away during covid for families in my community that were in need of resources during those trying times. I also made an impact when I volunteered to feed the homeless and walked the streets of downtown to share bagged lunches, hygiene care and blankets for them. All of these times were special in my heart to know that I made a difference in my community.
