Bio

After spending years working and raising a family, I’ve returned to school to pursue my life-long love of art and photography. As a senior learner, I bring dedication, discipline, and a strong work ethic to everything I do. I’m committed to growing both creatively and personally, and I’m continuing to look for ways to support and sustain this next chapter of my education. I’m deeply grateful for every opportunity I’m given, and I never take the chance to learn, create, and better myself for granted.

I am pursuing education in photography because it allows me to tell stories, capture emotion, and share moments that inspire connection. While my journey into this pursuit to higher education is happening later in life, I approach it with purpose and determination. For me, education is not simply about earning a credential; it is about strengthening the foundation I need to build a business that reflects my creativity, skill, and passion. Each class I take teaches me not only technical skills but also discipline, problem-solving, and strategic thinking—tools I know are essential to entrepreneurial success. My plan to pursue an entrepreneurial career stems from a deep desire to turn my creative vision into something tangible and impactful. I hope to build a photography business that goes beyond selling images, creating experiences and moments that touch people’s lives. Entrepreneurship appeals to me because it allows me to shape my own path, take initiative, and combine creativity with leadership. I am motivated by challenges, inspired by opportunities, and committed to finding solutions where others see obstacles. I want to create a business that reflects who I am, and that contributes positively to my community through meaningful work. I believe I will be successful where many others struggle because I bring both experience and perseverance to the table. Over the years, I have balanced work, family, and personal growth, learning discipline, patience, and consistency along the way. I approach projects with intention, follow through on commitments, and have learned the value of resilience when faced with setbacks. Additionally, my volunteer work with youth has strengthened my leadership, communication, and mentoring skills—abilities that are critical when building a team or a client base. I understand that success is not about luck alone; it comes from preparation, determination, and the willingness to learn continuously. To me, a successful life is one that blends purpose, creativity, and meaningful contribution. It is about living with intention, taking responsibility for your choices, and using your talents to positively influence others. Success is not measured only by financial gain, but by the impact you have on those around you and the legacy you leave through your work, relationships, and service. My vision for my business is aligned with this philosophy: it will be built on integrity, creativity, and dedication, and it will aim to create value and connection in every interaction. This scholarship would allow me to continue developing my education while taking the next steps toward building my own business. It would provide the resources and encouragement to keep moving forward, balancing learning, service, and entrepreneurship. With the foundation of higher education and my commitment to purposeful work, I am confident in my ability to carve my own path and create a business that reflects both my ambition and my values.

Moments of life, no matter how small, are full of inspiration. A bird landing on a branch, the way sunlight spills across a field, or the laughter of people sharing joy—these are the things that catch my eye and spark my creativity. I am drawn to noticing small details and capturing them in a way that makes others pause, reflect, or feel something. My creative voice comes from curiosity, observation, and a desire to translate emotion into visual storytelling. I try to see the world with warmth, honesty, and a sense of connection, and I aim to reflect that in everything I create. My dream is to work in a field where I can tell stories and evoke feeling through my work. I hope to continue developing my skills in photography and eventually build my own creative business, one that allows me to share meaningful moments with others. I want my work to be more than images—it should invite people into experiences, inspire thought, and celebrate life’s small and beautiful details. Being able to capture moments that resonate with others is both my passion and my motivation to keep learning and growing as an artist. People describe my photos as warm, full of life, and honest. I try to capture moments that feel real and intimate, where emotion and connection shine through. One of my recent works is currently featured in a student art show—a photo of a quiet, tender moment between a person and a horse, a scene full of warmth and natural light. I hope my work resonates in a way that allows viewers to feel present in those fleeting, meaningful experiences. Contributing to my community is central to who I am. I volunteer with youth for eight or more hours each week, guiding children and teens ages 8 to 18 and helping them build confidence, patience, and skills that will serve them well. Beyond volunteering, I strive to be a positive presence in my community simply by showing up, acting with integrity, and supporting those around me. I believe that creativity is not just about personal expression—it is also about sharing, inspiring, and encouraging growth in others. I stay motivated by the desire to keep learning and to share beauty, emotion, and connection through my work. Every new experience, whether big or small, fuels my creativity and reminds me why I am choosing to pursue this path. Winning this scholarship would allow me to continue growing my skills and investing in my craft while remaining engaged in my community. It would help me move closer to my dream of telling stories that make people feel, and of building a creative career rooted in authenticity, passion, and impact. I believe you're never too old to follow your dreams.

Faith plays an important role in my life. I am a Christian, and my belief in God shapes how I live, lead, and grow. It guides my decisions, strengthens me during challenges, and reminds me to approach life with gratitude and integrity. Faith is the foundation that drives both my personal goals and my desire to serve others. For many years, my focus was on working and raising a family. During that time, I learned that faith is often shown through responsibility, patience, and consistency. Returning to school now is a deliberate choice—I want to grow, learn, and strengthen my skills so I can contribute meaningfully to my community. Service is central to my life. I volunteer with youth for eight or more hours each week, and even more in the summer. I teach and guide kids ages 8 to 18, modeling patience, accountability, and encouragement. My faith reminds me that leadership is built on character and care for others, and I hope the students I work with see the value of perseverance, integrity, and dedication. I am deeply committed to making the most of this opportunity. I approach every challenge with dedication and follow through on my commitments. I believe that my combination of life experience, faith, and passion for serving others allows me to bring a unique perspective and energy that will make a meaningful difference in any program or community I am part of. Education, to me, is a way to honor the gifts I’ve been given. Continuing to learn allows me to expand my knowledge, sharpen my skills, and better serve those around me. Faith gives me confidence to pursue growth and humility to stay teachable. It reminds me that meaningful work comes from commitment and purpose, not recognition. I am also inspired by the women who came before me. I named my daughter Eva after my grandmother, a woman whose strength and example shaped who I am today. Carrying her name forward reminds me that faith, integrity, and perseverance ripple across generations. I hope to show my daughter that growth never stops, leadership matters, and pursuing education is a way to honor both our gifts and our responsibilities. Returning to school now requires intention and discipline. I am committed to using my education to serve well, lead honestly, and make a positive, lasting impact. Faith and appreciation grounds my ambition, fuels my drive, and guides me toward a future built on purpose.

Returning to school at this stage in my life feels exciting and deeply intentional. After years spent working and raising a family, I am finally pursuing my long-standing love of photography in a more focused way. What makes my path unique is the season of life I’m in. I’m not fresh out of high school figuring things out—I’m returning with years of experience, responsibility, and gratitude behind me. I understand what it means to wait for something and to work hard when the time is right. Photography has always been part of how I see the world. Living near the foothills of Colorado, I’ve been surrounded by landscapes that constantly remind me to slow down and look closer. The changing light on the mountains, birds moving across an open sky, the quiet stillness of nature—those are the moments that draw me in. I don’t just want to take pretty pictures. I want to capture the kind of images that make people pause and feel something. Nature is powerful, but it’s also fragile, and I believe photography can quietly encourage people to appreciate and protect it. Balancing work and family for many years taught me discipline, patience, and perseverance. I don’t take opportunities lightly because I know how much responsibility comes with them. As a senior learner, I approach my education with purpose. I’m not chasing a title—I’m chasing growth. I want to sharpen my technical skills, strengthen my artistic eye, and keep pushing myself to improve. Service is also a big part of who I am. I volunteer with youth for eight or more hours each week, and even more during the summer. I teach and guide kids ages 8 to 18, and being part of their growth is one of the most rewarding parts of my life. Working with young people keeps me grounded. It reminds me that leadership is about showing up consistently, staying patient, and encouraging others to see what they’re capable of. I hope my own pursuit of education shows them that learning doesn’t stop at a certain age. This scholarship would truly make a difference for me. I’m committed to continuing my education, but I also want to be careful and responsible with my family’s resources. Support from this scholarship would allow me to take classes, and focus fully on developing my craft without placing extra strain at home. It would give me the chance to move forward confidently and wholeheartedly. I am driven, grateful, and deeply passionate about learning and creating. I may not be on a traditional path, but I am on a purposeful one. I’m ready to keep growing, keep serving, and keep capturing the beauty of the world around me—one image at a time.

Returning to school at this stage in my life is a thoughtful and intentional decision—learning with purpose. After years of working and raising a family, I am now in a place where I can focus on continuing my education and investing in my own growth. The responsibilities and experiences of those years shaped me in lasting ways, and they have given me both the motivation and the maturity to approach this next chapter with clarity and determination. Balancing work and family taught me discipline, perseverance, and the value of consistency. I learned how to manage my time carefully, prioritize responsibilities, and stay committed even when things felt overwhelming. These experiences shaped my personal values and strengthened my work ethic. I appreciate gratitude, accountability, and the desire for continuous improvement because I understand that opportunities are gifts. As a senior learner, I approach education with focus and appreciation. I am not returning simply for a credential, but for the knowledge, skills, and personal development that come from meaningful learning. My life journey has also shaped my aspirations. Over time, I have come to understand that growth does not have an expiration date. I am not done. Education represents both opportunity and empowerment. Expanding my knowledge allows me to think more critically, communicate more effectively, and engage more thoughtfully with the world around me. At my age, I appreciate things differently. What I see around me inspires me and equips me to contribute in deeper and more impactful ways, both personally and professionally. Community service is already an important part of my life. I volunteer with youth for eight or more hours each week—and even more during the summer months. As a dedicated volunteer, I teach and guide children and teens ages 8 to 18, helping them build skills, confidence, and character. Working closely with young people has reinforced my belief that leadership is rooted in patience, consistency, and positive example. It has also shown me how powerful encouragement and mentorship can be. I plan to use my continued education to become an even stronger resource for the youth and families I serve, bringing greater knowledge, perspective, and confidence to my role in the community. This scholarship would provide meaningful support as I continue this journey. As I carefully balance educational goals with family responsibilities, I am committed to pursuing opportunities that allow me to grow without placing additional strain on those who depend on me. Scholarship assistance makes it possible for me to enroll in classes and invest in my studies while honoring the priorities and commitments that remain central in my life. It would allow me to move forward with focus and gratitude. Returning to education at this stage in my life reflects my commitment, gratitude, and a genuine desire to grow. I am determined to continue learning with purpose—using the knowledge I gain to better myself, serve my community, and make a positive, lasting impact.
