My name is Juliana Rodriguez, and I am currently an AVID senior at Monache High School. I am extremely passionate about the health industry and have always been drawn to alternative natural solutions for individual health. This interest has inspired me to want to pursue a career in naturopathy, to become a naturopathic doctor. To pursue my dream of becoming a naturopathic doctor, I plan to attend an accredited four-year university, such as Chico State, where I will major in Biology to earn my bachelor's degree. After completing my undergraduate studies, I intend to further my education by attending a naturopathic medical school. I would be grateful for any opportunity to learn more about what it takes to become a naturopathic doctor, so I can better inform and serve my community.

My name is Juliana Rodriguez, and I am currently an AVID senior at Monache High School. Being a part of Advance Via Individual Determination has allowed me to develop skills I can use for college and towards my future career. AVID has taught me to use my communication, problem-solving, and organization skills in ways I would have never imagined. I have been pushed out of my comfort zone to the point where I am inspired to succeed in life. I would highly recommend this extracurricular to anyone who is looking for a challenge that shapes them to become a better person, the same way AVID has allowed me to understand myself better and my interests. I am extremely passionate about the health industry and have always been drawn to alternative natural solutions for individual health. This interest has inspired me to want to pursue a career in naturopathy, to become a naturopathic doctor. I want to help people become the best versions of themselves healthwise, and I will be able to impact other people's lives as well in a way that motivates them to do better, so they can lead by example and help other people out who could use a hand. When people help one another to become healthier versions of themselves, an environment open to growth is created for everyone to thrive. I want to be able to contribute to a sense of community so that many people can feel a sense of belonging. To pursue my dream of becoming a naturopathic doctor, I plan to attend an accredited college, where I will major in Biology to later transfer to a four-year college to earn my bachelor's degree. After completing my undergraduate studies, I intend to further my education by attending a naturopathic medical school. Receiving this scholarship would support my aspiration to have a higher education, which I aim to use to assist people with health concerns. I would appreciate any opportunity to learn more about what it takes to become a naturopathic doctor, so I can better inform and serve my community. I think the biggest challenge that medical students face today is financial barriers. I know that for many people, including myself, there is no financial support towards a higher education. Searching for financial opportunities that support a higher education can be difficult. The cost of tuition, books, and other expenses can be overwhelming, and without clear guidance on where to find scholarships, grants, or other funding opportunities, it can feel discouraging. Additionally, the competitive nature of health-related programs adds another layer of difficulty. These programs often require high academic achievement, relevant experience, and strong personal statements, which means applicants must go above and beyond just to be considered. It's not just about meeting the minimum requirements; it’s about standing out in a crowded field of qualified candidates, and I know that I am not afraid to stand out, and I am also not afraid to show others that they can make a difference too.
