Hello! My name is Julia Chiu. I am a 24 year old Japanese and Chinese American from California. I come from a low income family as my dad is disabled due to terminal heart failure, and his social security disability benefits are my family's sole source of income. Growing up with this has motivated me to pursue a career in nursing. So I am going to Unitek College in Fremont, California to achieve a degree in license vocational nursing as a full time student with a part time job. I hope to eventually get my registered nursing degree in the year after and work in pediatrics. I face a lot of financial struggles and being able to receive any scholarships will be so detrimentally helpful as I can focus more on my education. My GPA in college has always been above a 3.7 and I have been on the Dean's list multiple times. I am also able to provide proof of everything that I have mentioned if needed. I am incredibly grateful for anything that can bring me closer to giving back to my community and my family.
