Breeze Sports Scholarship
The first time I coached a group of young swimmers, I realized the power sports have to transform lives beyond the playing field. I watched a timid seven-year-old finally put her face in the water and swim across the pool, and the pride on her face was unforgettable. That moment inspired me because it showed me that sports are not only about competition but also about building confidence, discipline, and resilience. It is these life-changing opportunities that drive my passion to pursue a career in the sports industry.
I am currently pursuing a Master of Healthcare Administration at Trevecca Nazarene University, where I am learning to combine leadership, program development, and wellness principles to create meaningful impact. My goal is to bring this knowledge into the world of sports, designing programs that integrate fitness, health, and personal development for athletes at all levels. I am inspired by the idea that sports can be a vehicle for promoting wellness, mental health, and lifelong healthy habits, not just for elite athletes but for entire communities.
Throughout my experiences in childcare, fitness instruction, and physical therapy support, I have seen how structured guidance, encouragement, and coaching can help individuals overcome challenges and achieve goals they once thought impossible. Sports provide a unique platform to do this on a larger scale. Whether coaching young athletes, supporting adults in fitness programs, or developing wellness initiatives, I have witnessed firsthand how sports can teach discipline, teamwork, and resilience while fostering self-confidence and community connection.
My leadership experience as Chapter President and Vice President of Administration for Delta Zeta has also prepared me to make a meaningful contribution to the sports industry. Leading over one hundred members, coordinating committees, and developing programs taught me how to manage complex initiatives, inspire teams, and create positive impact. I plan to bring these skills into sports administration by designing programs that are inclusive, accessible, and focused on long-term growth and well-being. My vision is to create opportunities where athletes not only improve their performance but also develop leadership, health literacy, and life skills that extend beyond the field.
I hope to make a difference in the sports industry by promoting programs that integrate health, wellness, and athletic development. I want to create initiatives that empower athletes and communities to prioritize fitness, mental health, and holistic well-being while cultivating the discipline and teamwork inherent to sports. I am motivated to use my education, experience, and leadership to help athletes reach their full potential and inspire others to embrace sports as a tool for personal growth and community connection.
Sports have the power to transform individuals and communities, and I am excited to dedicate my career to creating programs that make this impact tangible. By combining my knowledge of healthcare administration with my passion for fitness and wellness, I aim to leave a legacy in sports that goes beyond competition and celebrates growth, resilience, and lifelong health.
Dorothy Walker Dearon Scholarship
From a young age, I have been drawn to the ways health, wellness, and leadership intersect to impact communities. Growing up, I watched my parents emphasize the importance of health and family, and I realized early that caring for others could be a meaningful career. This realization guided my academic journey and led me to pursue a Master of Healthcare Administration at Trevecca Nazarene University, where I am on track to complete my degree early next year. My academic goal is to gain advanced knowledge in healthcare systems, leadership, and program development while learning how to design and implement wellness initiatives that improve both individual and community health outcomes.
My professional goal is to combine healthcare administration with fitness and wellness to create programs that promote healthy lifestyles, prevent illness, and empower individuals to take control of their health. I have hands-on experience in childcare, physical therapy support, and fitness instruction, which has taught me how to motivate and support people of all ages. I have seen firsthand how structured programs, encouragement, and community support can transform a person’s confidence and well-being. These experiences reinforced my belief that healthcare is not only about treating illness but also about empowering individuals to lead healthier, more active lives.
Leadership and service have been central to my growth. As Chapter President and Vice President of Administration for Delta Zeta, I led over one hundred members, coordinated committees, and developed initiatives that fostered collaboration, personal growth, and community engagement. These experiences taught me how to manage complex projects, inspire teams, and create lasting impact—skills I plan to apply in healthcare administration and public health. I am particularly focused on creating accessible programs that integrate wellness education, fitness, and preventive care into communities that need them most.
Receiving this scholarship would help remove financial barriers and allow me to dedicate my energy to achieving my academic and professional goals. I aspire to work in healthcare administration positions where I can develop and oversee programs that blend fitness, wellness, and preventive health strategies. My long-term vision is to make a meaningful impact in public health by designing initiatives that empower communities, improve population health outcomes, and inspire individuals to adopt lifelong healthy habits.
Supporting students like me who are goal-driven and committed to public health ensures that talented individuals can reach their full potential and contribute innovations that benefit society. With the support of this scholarship, I am confident I can combine my education, leadership skills, and passion for wellness to make a lasting impact in healthcare and public health.
