Bold Bucket List Scholarship
When I first came to this country, my main goals were to have a better lifestyle. Over the last four years living in California I have accomplished most of my goals. The most important goal for me was the goal to learn english, since I was born in Mexico and lived there for 13 years of my life, I knew it was not gonna be easy to learn another language at such age. However, after almost 4 years I achieved to learn english and open my doors to new opportunities in life. My second most important goal was to feel good with the environment that surrounds me. In the last four years I have created and met new people that makes my days easier and happier. Which is something that I am very grateful for. I feel satisfied with the things and people that surrounds me and the fact to know that I will be able to go to college makes me feel more ambitious about my future and the things I want for my life. My last goal is to have a good job, where I don’t have to complain about going to work, because I will be happy to do the things that I do at work. It has only been fours being here, and I know that better things are going to come and with that more goals and responsibilities, but I am willing to keep working as hard as I can in order to achieve my dreams.
Graduate Debt-Free Scholarship
My name is Juan Sevilla, I’m 17 years old, I was born in Mexico and became a US permanent resident in 2018. I lived 13 years of my life in Mexico and the last 4 years of my life here in California.
At the beginning, it was extremely difficult for me to have good grades in school since I couldn’t communicate my ideas to my teachers or classmates. However, over the years it was easier and easier to communicate my thoughts in a foreign language, until now, where I’m able to write long essays and make presentations in English without any problem.
I am very thankful for being able to learn a new language in such a small amount of time, however it was never easy. When I first arrived here, every year, I would set a goal to accomplish at the end of the year, which it usually included to make a progress in my English, either in my writing, listening or speaking skills. Eventually, with discipline, responsibility, and motivation I was able to improve those skills over time.
It is due to those abilities and habits that I was able to achieve my academical goals, and it is also due to those abilities that I plan to avoid college debt, by being responsable and aware of all the expenses for my college education and be motivated that even though there will be times in which everything seems lost, I will still be able to find a solution to my problems by being motivated for my future and hopeful that I will achieve my dreams one day.
