Bio

I'm very determined to pursue my long-term goal of becoming an FBI agent. I strongly believe that I have all it takes to get there. I joined the United States Navy to build myself up into the person that I am today. Joining the military was a major decision I had to make to pursue my goal. Rosemarie STEM Scholarship
My name is Joyce Oforikuma. I attended Penn State University for two years and proceeded in joining the United States Navy for three years. I joined the Navy because I've always wanted to be an FBI Special Agent so I needed to work on my confidence, knowledge on what's going on in the world by traveling and I also wanted to build up my resume. Joining the military was also a stepping stone for me to be a competitive candidate when it's time for me to apply for the FBI. I aspire to work for the FBI and still serve in the navy part-time because as a citizen of the United States and strongly believe that my destiny is to serve and protect this country at all cost. I am going to go back to school as a full-time student at Penn State and continue to work on getting a degree in Criminal Justice. I am a perfect candidate for this scholarship because I am not only getting my bachelor's and master's degree, I am going as far as getting a PhD. I am so determined and motivated to go back to school because I already have my mindset on my goals and aspirations. Being in the military has taught me to learn to multitask, be a leader, communicate, think critically and problem solves in a stressful environment. With all these qualities I have obtained from my military experience, I strongly believe that I'd be able to handle any stress and obstacle in school. I'm planning on taking at least 20 credits each semester and I know it'll be financially challenging, but I am ready to do everything possible to get my education. This is the main reason why this scholarship will play a major role financially. I cannot afford to pay for my education without applying for scholarships and loans. I need all the help I can get financially to get to my goals and aspirations. Getting nominated for the scholarship will eliminate a lot on my plate. Thank You!
