Some actions or experiences that I took to serve my local community, state, or the United States to help make a better future would be volunteering my time. I found volunteering is a great way to support your community. My favorite volunteering opportunities would be anywhere from cleaning up the neighborhood to planting a community garden. I live in an area that has a lot of elderly people so I try to check on neighbors and family members, especially those who live alone, are elderly, have health or mobility issues or are caring for children. I even schedule a time to remotely connect with these individuals regularly to let them know they are not alone. My sister works in the medical field so she inspires me a lot so I try to provide support to frontline health workers and first responders. Many health workers are not able to stay at home and are working around the clock, so take on tasks that they don’t have time to do as an expression of gratitude. I learned that it's a great thing to participate in a charity walk or run, volunteer at a local nonprofit, organize a clothing drive, participate in a national giving or remembrance day, and ask for charitable donations instead of birthday or Christmas gifts or even host a fundraising event and donate the money. I believe that it's great to help people paint and repair their homes. Volunteer to clean up trash around a neighborhood or even help to create a mural that depicts the values of your community. It is so great to volunteer my time and effort with one or more of these community services. I like to reach out to a neighbor in need, perform an act of random kindness, mentor children at your local school, serve at a local soup kitchen or food bank, or volunteer at the local animal shelter, rescue group, or humane society. I find it nice when students like us can organize cleaning drives, book drives, community service for old people and tree plantation events in nearby localities, thus taking small steps to achieve the bigger aim. We can also volunteer for such drives as old age homes, orphanages and rehab centers where their assistance is needed.I also believe that Volunteering shows initiative and effort towards things that are important and volunteering for the same is necessary. Making students like me volunteer at orphanages, and old age homes can help benefit our society.
