I plan to continue pursuing the career path of Computer Software engineering, and don't think of stopping any time soon. However, as a first-gen Hispanic kid in a low-income family with mainly one source of income, it seems impossible to be able to continue my education. Although that might've seemed as the end of the road for me, it wasn't; amazing scholarships such as this Amazing Financial scholarship are the scholarships I look forward to, and I put my deepest thought into since I know if I was selected, I would be beyond grateful giving me reminder that there is light at the end of this deep, dark tunnel. Circling back to my career path, I chose this career as I've had interest in the amazing things technology can do and have always been astonished by how complex it is. I saw it as a jungle, a jungle ready for me to explore and find the hidden treasure. Since 4th grade, I became more and more experienced with technology, as I had gotten my first ever console, that is completely mine (PS4). I learned to navigate throughout it, the tips and tricks with this tech. Since then, my experience has grown to a large extent, exceeding my expectations to what I thought was my potential. I plan to take advantage of my knowledge in this field, and pursue a career that requires internships, and a job that helps improve technology and further build our technology based world.
Attending college would be essential and to a great extent, would be considered a necessity for who I wanna be. Other students might not want to put in this work to continue their education and go straight into the workforce, but I’m willing to take this extra step; I’ve promised this to my parents, that my education is my #1 priority for my future. To start off, attending college would mark a new beginning in my family, as I’m first generation and neither my parents nor my grandparents went to college, and at most, they only finished high school. They came to the United States for opportunities, and for their children to have a better education than they ever had, so I’m not planning on disappointing them in this aspect. I want to show them that they’re hard work paid off, and the choice they made was the right choice. Additionally, attending college opens up countless opportunities and chances to apply what I’ve learned into the real world, as I plan on participating in internships and programs that allow me to prove myself that my dedication and commitment is existent.
Another main reason on which attending college is vital to me would be on which I know it’ll help me grow mentally and professionally, showing me what it means to be an adult with responsibilities. I’m very aware that my responsibility isn’t amazing, and having a direct step to improving it by attending college would be a key pathway. With the career I chose, Computer Software Engineering/ Computer Engineering, I’m highly motivated in excelling at this, and with college I intend to make an impact in this field, as technology is growing day by day and the world needs people in this work field to manage these new changes. However, with my high motivation and confidence I have in this topic, I strongly believe a mentor or someone that has had the experience in this topic would help a ton.
