Bio

Dear Scholarship Committee, My name is Joshua Joseph Jackson, and I am an ambitious and dedicated individual pursuing a career in information technology. As an active-duty member of the US Air Force, I am working toward a Master of Science in Information Technology Management, specializing in Information Assurance & Cybersecurity Management. As the sole provider for my loving wife and three wonderful sons, I often take on side jobs to ensure our family's financial stability. My ultimate goal is to achieve financial freedom upon separating from the military and securing my dream IT job. My passion for information technology was ignited by my father, who remains my greatest hero and source of inspiration. He instilled in me the knowledge, confidence, and resilience to overcome challenges and strive for excellence. The first computer my father and I built sparked my interest in technology, ultimately leading me to pursue a degree in IT. Today, I carry on this legacy by building computers with my three sons, nurturing their curiosity and passion, and inspiring them to reach heights beyond my wildest dreams. I am an excellent candidate for this scholarship, as perseverance and the relentless pursuit of excellence define character traits. A bit of support can significantly impact my journey, fueling my ambitions and propelling me toward remarkable success in the IT field. Thank you for considering my application. Very Respectfully, Joshua Joseph Jackson

My name is Joshua Joseph Jackson, and I am an ambitious and dedicated individual pursuing a career in information technology. As an active-duty member of the US Air Force, I am working toward a Master of Science in Information Technology Management, specializing in Information Assurance & Cybersecurity Management. As a person of mixed heritage, with an African American father and a Korean mother, my AAPI culture holds a deep significance. It has shaped my identity and provided me with a unique perspective on the world. Living with my Korean-speaking grandparents for most of my life, I have come to appreciate and embrace my heritage, finding comfort and strength in their shared customs and traditions. This connection to my roots has fueled my interest in Asian American studies and languages as I seek to deepen my understanding of my cultural background and strengthen my ties to my family and community. One of my family's most inspiring stories is how my father brought my mother's family to America. He provided them with housing and financial support, helping them establish their lives in a new country. My five uncles, who arrived without knowing how to speak English, exemplify resilience and determination. They have all succeeded in their respective careers as chiropractors, dentists, vice presidents of Korean Baptist Churches in America, and business owners. Their journey is a constant reminder of the power of hard work, perseverance, and adaptability. I strive to embody the qualities of service excellence, professionalism, integrity, cultural diversity, and human development as a leader in my community. My active-duty military service has provided invaluable opportunities to develop my leadership skills, instilling in me the importance of clear communication, empathy, and adaptability. I have learned that effective leadership involves guiding others and the ability to listen, understand, and adapt to the needs of the people around me. This has significantly influenced my approach to community engagement and service. My experiences volunteering in various local initiatives also showcase my commitment to service and community engagement. Through my participation in neighborhood clean-up drives, I have created a cleaner, healthier environment for the community while fostering a sense of unity and shared responsibility among its members. As I continue to develop my skills and grow as a leader, I remain committed to expanding my involvement in community initiatives and finding new ways to make a positive impact. Whether through mentoring, advocating for important causes, or supporting local businesses, I believe my actions, guided by service excellence, professionalism, integrity, cultural diversity, and human development, can improve my community and the world. My cultural background and the values instilled in me by my family have played a crucial role in shaping my character and aspirations. My dedication to furthering my education and career is driven by the desire to honor the sacrifices made by my parents and grandparents and to create a bright future for my own family. This commitment to cultural understanding and connection drives my personal and professional life, guiding my actions and aspirations as I move forward. By continuing to explore my AAPI heritage and fostering an environment that celebrates cultural diversity, I hope to inspire others to embrace their unique identities and contribute positively to our multicultural society. Thank you for considering my application. Very Respectfully, Joshua Joseph Jackson
