FIAH Scholarship
My name is Joshua Erazo, and I’m a proud Latinx student from Garland, Texas, currently completing my final semester at UNT Dallas with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. I’ve spent the last two and a half years balancing full-time work at Carnival Corporation with full-time studies, maintaining a 3.9 GPA while preparing for law school in Fall 2026. My journey has been shaped by discipline, faith, and a deep commitment to making the legal system more equitable and accessible.
Throughout high school, I was actively involved in community service and ministry. I served as Chairman of the Garland Youth Council, where I led outreach initiatives and worked with city officials to elevate youth voices in policy decisions. I also volunteered as a media specialist at Firewheel Church, supporting technical operations and mentoring younger students. These experiences taught me that leadership isn’t about titles, it’s about impact. Whether I was organizing civic events or troubleshooting sound systems, I learned to serve with humility and purpose.
My career goal is to become a lawyer who specializes in asset protection, housing rights, and immigration law. I want to establish a nonprofit legal clinic that provides affordable counsel to families navigating complex legal systems. As a mixed-race Christian, I understand the importance of cultural fluency and moral clarity in legal advocacy. I believe the law should be a bridge, not a barrier, and I’m committed to helping others cross it.
This scholarship would help me continue that mission. With law school on the horizon, I’m facing significant financial pressures, application fees, LSAT prep, travel costs, and the need for reliable technology. Every dollar I save now is a step closer to graduating debt-free and launching a career rooted in service. I’ve worked hard to steward every resource entrusted to me, and I view this scholarship as both a blessing and a responsibility.
I plan to make a difference not just through my career, but through mentorship and community engagement. I’ve already begun helping younger students navigate college admissions and financial aid, sharing what I’ve learned so they can avoid the pitfalls I faced. I believe success should be multiplied, not hoarded.
In everything I do, I strive to reflect the values that shaped me: resilience, integrity, and compassion. I’m grateful for the opportunity to apply, and I’m ready to keep building a future where justice is accessible, education is attainable, and service is the standard.
Sloane Stephens Doc & Glo Scholarship
I was raised in a world that demanded motion, working, studying, serving, and striving. As a mixed-race, Latinx Christian from Garland, Texas, I’ve learned to navigate systems that weren’t built with me in mind. But I’ve never let that stop me. I’ve built my life around resilience, stewardship, and the belief that education is the most powerful tool for change.
I’m currently completing my final semester at UNT Dallas, earning a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice while working full-time at Carnival Corporation. For over two years, I’ve balanced demanding academic work with a professional role in guest access and resolutions, where I handle complex cases with empathy and precision. I’ve maintained a 3.9 GPA, prepared for law school, and refined my leadership skills through civic engagement and ministry. Every step has been intentional. Every sacrifice has been worth it.
My passion is justice, not just in theory, but in practice. I want to become a lawyer who advocates for families, protects assets, and defends civil liberties. I’ve seen how the law can be both a barrier and a bridge, and I’m committed to making it more accessible, especially for those who’ve been overlooked. My long-term goal is to establish a legal nonprofit focused on housing, immigration, and financial protection, areas where cultural fluency and moral clarity are essential.
Faith is my foundation. I love Jesus, and I strive to reflect His character in how I lead, serve, and study. My grandparents taught me that humility isn’t weakness, it’s strength under control. They modeled stewardship, kindness, and self-belief, values I carry into every classroom, workplace, and community I touch. Like Sloane Stephens, I believe in honoring those who came before us by lifting others up. Her story resonates deeply with mine, not just because of her success, but because of her commitment to impact.
This scholarship would allow me to continue moving forward, toward law school, toward service, and toward a life built on purpose. It would help me upgrade essential technology, cover application costs, and reduce financial strain as I prepare for the next chapter. But more than that, it would affirm that my story matters, that my motion has meaning.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to apply, and I’m ready to keep building, keep believing, and keep moving, with confidence, care, and conviction. Thank you so much for this opportunity, I really appreciate the assistance you are willing to provide!
Christian J. Vazquez - Acts 20:35 Scholarship
I believe that pursuing higher education is not just a personal ambition, it’s a calling. As a Latinx, low-income Christian student in Texas, I’ve experienced firsthand the tension between academic aspiration and financial reality. Yet through every challenge, I’ve held fast to the belief that God equips those He calls. This scholarship would not only ease the financial burden I carry, it would affirm the values I live by: humility, stewardship, and service.
I am currently completing my final semester at UNT Dallas, earning a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice while working full-time at Carnival Corporation. For the past two and a half years, I’ve balanced rigorous academic demands with professional responsibilities, often sacrificing sleep and comfort to remain faithful to both. My GPA stands at 3.9, and I’ve already begun preparing for law school, which I plan to attend in Fall 2026. I’ve taken the LSAT, researched programs that align with my work schedule, and begun drafting scholarship applications to minimize debt. Every step I take is guided by prayer, planning, and a deep desire to serve others through the legal field.
My faith is not a side note, it is the foundation of my academic and professional journey. I love Jesus, and I strive to reflect His character in how I treat others, how I manage my time, and how I respond to adversity. Working in guest access and resolutions at Carnival has taught me how to listen with empathy, advocate with clarity, and resolve conflict with grace. These are not just workplace skills, they are spiritual disciplines. I believe that stewardship means honoring every opportunity God entrusts to me, whether it’s a difficult guest case or a demanding research paper.
Financially, the road has not been easy. I’ve lived frugally, budgeting every dollar to cover tuition, books, transportation, and basic living expenses. I’ve delayed technology upgrades, borrowed textbooks, and relied on public resources to stay afloat. As I prepare for law school, the costs are even more daunting, application fees, LSAT prep, travel, and the need for a reliable laptop all add up quickly. This scholarship would allow me to invest in the tools I need to succeed without compromising my financial stability or taking on unnecessary debt.
But beyond the financial relief, this scholarship represents something deeper: a community of believers who recognize the value of faith-driven education. I don’t just want to be a lawyer, I want to be a Christian legal leader who brings integrity, compassion, and cultural awareness to the courtroom. As a mixed-race Latino, I understand the importance of representation and the power of advocacy. I want to serve families who feel unheard, communities that are underserved, and individuals who need someone to stand in the gap. My long-term goal is to establish a legal nonprofit focused on asset protection, housing rights, and immigration support, areas where faith and justice intersect.
I also believe in mentoring and multiplying impact. Throughout college, I’ve volunteered with youth programs, served in church media ministry, and led civic outreach through the Garland Youth Council. I’ve mentored younger students navigating college applications and financial aid, sharing what I’ve learned so they can avoid the pitfalls I faced. I don’t believe success is meant to be hoarded, it’s meant to be shared.
This scholarship would be a blessing, not just to me, but to everyone I hope to serve. It would affirm that my journey matters, that my faith, my heritage, and my hard work are seen and valued. It would allow me to continue walking in obedience, trusting that God will provide as I pursue the calling He’s placed on my life.
I am humbled by the opportunity to apply, and I am grateful for any support that helps me continue this journey with integrity, purpose, and joy.
Ethics in Law Leadership Scholarship
As a mixed-race Christian pursuing a legal career, I view the law not only as a system of rules but as a platform for restoration, equity, and moral clarity. My faith teaches that justice is not merely punitive, it is redemptive. Scripture calls us to “act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly” (Micah 6:8), and I believe this mandate aligns powerfully with the ethical responsibilities of a legal professional.
Growing up in a multicultural environment, I often found myself translating not just language, but perspective, bridging cultural misunderstandings and advocating for fairness in everyday interactions. This experience shaped my desire to become a lawyer who doesn’t just interpret the law, but humanizes it. Mixed-race attorneys are uniquely positioned to foster empathy across racial and cultural divides, and I intend to use that position to amplify marginalized voices and promote systemic reform.
My Christian beliefs guide how I approach conflict, accountability, and advocacy. I believe in truth with compassion, and in the power of listening before litigating. In my current role at Carnival Corporation, I’ve learned how to resolve complex guest concerns with professionalism and empathy, skills I plan to carry into client representation and courtroom strategy. I’ve also balanced full-time work with academic rigor, maintaining a 3.9 GPA while preparing for law school. This discipline reflects not only ambition, but a deep commitment to stewarding the gifts and opportunities God has given me.
As a future legal leader, I want to impact the field by promoting ethical transparency, defending civil liberties, and mentoring students from underrepresented backgrounds. I plan to specialize in constitutional and administrative law, where I can influence policy and uphold the rights of individuals regardless of race, income, or faith. My long-term goal is to establish a legal nonprofit that provides accessible counsel to families navigating immigration, housing, and education challenges, areas where cultural sensitivity and moral conviction are essential.
Faith is not a barrier in the legal world, it’s a compass. It reminds me that every case involves real people, and that justice must be pursued with humility and integrity. I believe Christian legal leaders have a responsibility to model grace under pressure, to speak truth in love, and to challenge injustice wherever it hides. My values will shape not only how I practice law, but how I lead, collaborate, and serve.
This scholarship would not only support my academic journey, it would affirm the intersection of faith, identity, and justice that defines my calling. I am ready to be a bridge, a voice, and a servant in the legal field. And I am committed to making a difference that reflects both my heritage and my beliefs.
