I have always been fascinated by the aviation industry. As a child, I used to stare up at the sky, mesmerized by the sight of airplanes soaring above me. I was drawn to the mechanics of how they worked, and I yearned to learn more about how these magnificent machines operated. This curiosity led me to pursue a career in aircraft maintenance, where I can indulge my love for airplanes while also utilizing my technical skills in the United States Air Force. My background in working on F-15 fighter aircraft in the Air Force has given me a great foundation to build upon. My experiences in this field have provided me with invaluable knowledge about the intricacies of aircraft systems and the attention to detail required to maintain them. I am proud of the work that I have accomplished so far, and I am eager to continue honing my skills and expanding my knowledge after my military career. In addition, my father has been a significant influence on my decision to pursue a career in aircraft maintenance. His service in the army taught him the importance of diligence, hard work, and attention to detail, all of which are essential qualities in the aircraft maintenance field. His experiences working as a custodian in my middle school also instilled in me a sense of pride in taking care of my environment and ensuring that everything is in good working order. Furthermore, his side business as an automotive technician taught me the value of taking pride in my work and striving for excellence in everything I do. Overall, I am thrilled at the prospect of pursuing an education in aircraft maintenance. I am excited to learn from experts in the field, develop new skills, and gain hands-on experience that will enable me to be an asset in the industry. I am passionate about this field and eager to contribute to the ongoing innovation and progress in aviation technology. I am hoping to use my Major in Aeronautics to further my career outside of the military as I am separating in 2024. My goal is to work at UPS in Louisville, KY as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician. After 8 years of military service, I am looking forward to settling down in my home state with my wife Hayley. Thank you for considering my application, and I look forward to the opportunity to learn and grow in this exciting field.

From my time being Active-Duty Air Force, my unique qualities include my love for learning, my drive for success, and my commitment to integrity. These qualities have guided me through my academic and personal journey, helping me to overcome challenges and achieve my goals. One of the ways I have demonstrated my uniqueness is through my passion for teaching. While serving in the United States Air Force, I was hand-selected to be an Aircraft Maintenance Instructor. My supervisors saw my ability to teach and my rapport with younger Airmen, and they entrusted me with the responsibility of training the next generation of aircraft maintainers. This experience not only allowed me to share my knowledge and skills with others, but also helped me to further develop my own teaching abilities. Another example of my uniqueness is my commitment to excellence. While deployed to the Middle East during Operation Inherent Resolve in 2018, I was selected to be one of the first aircraft maintainers to put boots on the ground. From there, we executed a seamless rotation of 18 aircraft into the area of responsibility. After that, I spent 6 months maintaining F-15E fighter aircraft that supported the destruction of ISIS. My dedication to performing my duties to the best of my abilities earned me the Air Force Commendation Medal, which I am extremely proud of. In the future, I plan to use my unique skills, talents, and perspectives to make a positive impact on my community. One of my long-term goals is to open an aircraft maintenance education facility in my home state of Kentucky. This facility will provide world-class training for aspiring aircraft maintainers and help them obtain their FAA Airframe and Powerplant License. My motivation for pursuing this goal comes from my observation that too much attention is focused on training and retaining pilots in the aviation industry. While pilots are undoubtedly important, I believe that aircraft maintainers are equally critical to ensuring safe and successful flights. By providing top-notch training for aircraft maintainers, I hope to contribute to the industry's growth and development, while also creating job opportunities in my local community. Overall, I believe that my unique qualities, experiences, and aspirations set me apart from others and make me a strong candidate for this scholarship. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my story and hope that my passion for learning, dedication to excellence, and commitment to giving back will inspire others to pursue their dreams and make a positive impact in their communities.

My current role as an instructor has given me a platform to give back in ways that I never realized I could. I host at least 5 CPR and first aid classes through the American Red Cross every month. These classes are open to military members and Japanese locals. It’s satisfying to teach these lifesaving skills, especially on an island where water sports are so popular. In addition to teaching CPR, I coach a running improvement club for military members that need to improve their run times to meet the military standards for physical fitness assessments. It’s an 8-week program where we run 3 times a week. I provide personalized coaching, diet tips, and advice. It’s rewarding to see people come through and crush their physical fitness assessments after they complete the program. Thank you for considering my application, and I look forward to the opportunity to learn and grow in this exciting field.
