I deserve this scholarship because I'm one of the nicest person to walk on this great big planet. I have a big heart and always wiling to help another person. I also want to relieve some of the financial burden on two of the best parents in the world. My education goal is to receive a Master's in Athletic Training with a minor in Psychology, and work as an Athletic Trainer for a college or professional team. In addition, I want to provide training for low-income children. I believe I'm a great candidate because of my qualities, character, community involvement, and I want to help more children of color achieve their athletic goals. During my junior year, I learned to persevere through difficult situations. As a baseball player on the Varsity team, I learned quickly that my window of mistakes is tiny compared to the white players. Luckily, my dad is my corner, and he kept telling me not to quit because that's what they wanted. He would always tell me that I didn't need baseball to get into college because my grades would get me in. Luckily, I listened to my dad and I overcame through the obstacle with several college commitments.

One of my simple favorite pleasures is collecting rare baseball cards. I like to purchase some of the hottest or well-known baseball cards like Topps because they seem to have some of the most desirable cards in the market. There is nothing like opening a fresh pack and discovering that I have luckily purchased a rare or valuable baseball card. When I find out that I have a high-interest card, I usually place those cards in a hard secure plastic cover to protect them from fingerprints or damage. In addition, I research the value to determine if it's feasible to sell it now or continue to hold on to them. My father continues to tell me to sell some of my baseball cards now, while the player is in demand and the price is high. But, right now, I like to hold on to them, and hopefully, years from now, mine will still be in demand and worth more money. I know it's a risk, but there is nothing like looking at your collection and knowing that you have something that many people want to buy. On occasions, my father and I take my collection to various Baseball card show to either sell or obtain information on the value of my hottest baseball cards. I genuinely find it interesting how true collectors can get the rarest collections out there and the amount of money they spent. My father always states he wished he had held onto his baseball cards and imagined if he could have given them to me. Maybe that's what I'm doing with mine, holding onto them for my future son.

Good Morning My name is Joshua Bell and I'm a senior at Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep Academy in Chicago, IL. I was born and raised in Chicago, IL. I attended private school since I was in kindergarten. I decided to go to public school for my last year in an effort to help my lovely parents save money for my college education. My goal is to attend Carroll University and earn an Atlhletic Training Degree, while playing baseball for the school. I have developed a passion to learn more about Athlectic Training especially understanding of common injuries associated with physical activity. I want to attend college so I can learn about Exercise Science, Anatomy, Physiology and Therapeutic Exercise. The reason I choose this program is because I will be able to help people physically and mentally. At a very young age my parents instilled assiting others in my life. Just knowing that I can help someone recover or assist someone to be a better athlectic is rewarding. In addition I want to continue playing baseball in college so I can play at a higher competivtive level. I'm also interested in joining the Student Government and volunteering on campus or near campus. I'm also looking forward to meeting new people and making more friends. Hopefully, they will make a tremendous impact on my life. I want to learn many things besides my program of interest, like art, music and I want to get involved on campus while becoming more independent. My future goal is to work with a college or professional team as their Athltetci Trainer. In addition, I want to provide baseball training and conditioning to under privellage youth. I believe in giving back especially to those in need. As a African American baseball player, I know how hard it is to obtain the proper type of conditioning and training that can help you to develop into a recruitable baseball player. Not, only will I provide training, but also consultation on By researching this profession, I found that the demand for Athlectie Trainers is very high. It seems that I will have many job opportunities before and after college. Lastly, graduating and receiving my degree from Carroll University will be one of my greatest accomplishments.

Patient to me means being able to wait for what is possible due to you. Being patience has also helped me make better decisions, and it has helped me be happy while accomplishing my goals. I have learned firsthand how to be patient. As a senior in high school playing baseball, I quickly learned the many facets of college baseball recruiting. I realize that it is up to the Coach at the colleges to determine when and how many players they will call and make an offer. I have no control over their choice and time. Therefore, I had to focus on playing the game, and hopefully, a college Coach will like what they see. I was getting anxious and nervous as a sophomore and junior because I didn't receive any offers. As I enter my senior year, I have received more offers to play college baseball from many schools. I would have to say, my Dad, was right. He often told me to continue getting good grades, dominate on the field, and my offers will come. My patience has also brought me many friends, and it has helped me reason instead of with many feelings.

To me, there is nothing like playing a game of baseball on a nice summer day against your favorite rival. Just having my parents, friends, and family in the stands is exciting. In addition, I get very excited when I hit a game-winning home run or make a game-winning defensive play at third base. Another thing that makes me happy is, eating. Lastly, being around my family makes me the happiest.

When I started playing baseball at the age of six, I knew that sports would always be my passion, and now athletic training will allow me to be associated with a profession I enjoy. When I think about Athletic Training and the many areas of study, I'm excited about utilizing all of the knowledge I will learn in the classroom and then hands-on with patients. In addition, Athletic Training is an excellent avenue to the medical profession, and it will allow me to enter other disciplines that draw my interest. Such as working in a hospital, clinic, occupational health to help individuals recover from injuries, but I could also work in a profession where I'm assisting companies in preventing injuries, such as industrial settings, performing arts, and public safety. When the fun days of playing baseball have stopped, I want to work in the Health Field. I want to help individuals overcome injuries and strengthen their bodies. I know, as an athlete, how much individuals want to return to the field or return to their usual active selves. I want to become an Athletic Trainer who gives clients personal satisfaction that I helped impact their health. I want to be the Athletic Trainer who provides people with hope, direction, and support to get them back to their competitive and usual selves. I think there is no bigger reward than seeing the smile on my client's faces, especially after they have made tremendous strides toward full recovery. I genuinely believe that I will assist individuals in reaching their fitness goals with my knowledge. I want to help clients reach realistic goals that are achievable and hold them accountable. I also chose this path because I was that athlete on the injury list for a couple of weeks and couldn't play baseball for the High School team. Luckily for me, I had a physical therapist that was a former athlete, and he understood how much I wanted to return to the baseball field. I'm looking forward to evaluating chronic athletic injuries and making a diagnosis plan of training or referral to a more qualified health care professional to help the athlete back to full recovery. Not only will I be able to provide Athletic Training, but I also want to provide mental support. I can teach relaxation techniques to athletics and be that objective listener to those overwhelmed or frustrated. I want to motivate them through tough times and be a support network for them. I want to be an essential asset to a team or person by helping them reach their full potential. In addition, I want to provide baseball conditioning and training to children in deprived areas on a volunteer basis. Once again, my goal is to be an Athletic Trainer who will ensure athletes perform exercises correctly to receive accurate results.
