Helpfulness has been an important value in my life, and I have learned that it is best demonstrated through consistent action rather than words alone. One of the main ways I have shown helpfulness is through volunteering in my community. Through my school, I regularly volunteer with programs that provide meals to individuals experiencing homelessness. Helping prepare and serve food has allowed me to better understand the challenges many people face and has taught me the importance of compassion, respect, and empathy. These experiences have shown me that being helpful often means offering your time and presence, even when the task seems small. I have also volunteered with children and adults with special needs, an experience that has had a meaningful impact on me. Working with individuals of different abilities taught me patience, understanding, and the importance of inclusion. Whether assisting with activities, encouraging participation, or simply making someone feel comfortable and supported, I learned that helpfulness means meeting people where they are and recognizing their strengths. These moments reinforced the idea that kindness and consistency can make a lasting difference in someone’s life. Persistence and perseverance have also played a major role in shaping who I am, especially through football. As a linebacker, I have faced both physical and mental challenges that tested my confidence and commitment. Progress did not always come quickly, and there were times when improvement felt slow or setbacks felt discouraging. Instead of giving up, I stayed focused on putting in extra effort through practice, film study, and listening carefully to feedback from my coaches. One clear example of perseverance leading to success occurred during a challenging part of the season when mistakes and tough games could have easily shaken my confidence. Rather than letting frustration take over, I focused on learning from those experiences and continuing to work hard each day. Over time, that persistence led to improved performance, stronger confidence, and greater trust from my teammates and coaches. Football taught me that success is rarely immediate and that consistent effort, even when results are not visible right away, is what ultimately leads to growth. Through both volunteering and athletics, I have learned that helpfulness and perseverance are closely connected. Being helpful requires commitment, patience, and a willingness to support others, just as perseverance requires dedication and resilience. These lessons continue to guide how I approach challenges and opportunities in my life, and they will remain important as I move forward into college and beyond.

My father figure is my dad, and what makes him special to me is the steady, consistent way he has guided our family and shaped the person I am becoming. He has never tried to impress anyone with words or titles. Instead, he leads through his actions, showing me every day what responsibility, integrity, and perseverance look like in real life. Growing up, I watched my dad balance work, family, and everyday responsibilities with determination and humility. No matter how busy or stressful his day was, he always made time for us. He taught me that showing up matters, especially when others depend on you. From him, I learned that being dependable is one of the most important qualities a person can have. He didn’t just tell me to work hard — he showed me what that looks like through his own example. My dad has also played a major role in supporting me academically and athletically. As a student-athlete, I’ve faced challenges that tested my confidence and patience, and my dad has always been there to offer guidance and perspective. After tough football games or disappointing performances, he never focused solely on the result. Instead, he encouraged me to reflect, learn, and improve. He taught me that failure is not something to fear, but an opportunity to grow stronger and wiser. One of the most meaningful lessons my dad has taught me is the importance of character. He has always emphasized doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. He holds me accountable for my actions while reminding me to stay humble and respectful. His expectations have pushed me to strive for excellence, not just in sports or academics, but in how I treat others and carry myself. What makes my dad truly special is his unwavering belief in me. He has supported my goals while encouraging me to stay grounded and focused on what truly matters. Knowing that he believes in me has given me confidence and motivation to challenge myself, especially during moments of doubt. Because of him, I have learned the value of perseverance, honesty, and commitment. My dad’s influence continues to guide my decisions and shape my character. The lessons he has taught me will stay with me long after my playing days are over. He has shown me what it means to be a strong, dependable person, and I strive every day to live up to the example he has set.

Football has played a major role in shaping the person I am today. It has taught me how to stay committed even when things are difficult or uncomfortable. There are early mornings, long practices, and moments of frustration where quitting would be easier, but football has shown me the importance of perseverance and discipline. Learning to push through physical and mental challenges has helped me develop a strong work ethic that carries over into my academics and everyday life. As a linebacker, I have learned what it means to be accountable. My position requires constant communication, preparation, and trust in my teammates. I’ve learned that if I don’t do my job, it affects everyone around me. This responsibility has helped me become more reliable and aware of how my actions impact others. Football has also taught me how to accept feedback and criticism, even when it’s difficult, and use it as motivation to improve rather than something to take personally. Football has also helped me grow emotionally. I’ve experienced setbacks, mistakes, and tough losses, and I’ve learned how to respond with resilience instead of frustration. Rather than dwelling on failures, I’ve learned to stay focused, adjust, and move forward with confidence. Being part of a team has taught me humility and the importance of supporting others, even when recognition isn’t guaranteed. I want to continue playing football in college because the sport has challenged me to become a better version of myself. Football pushes me to manage my time, hold myself to a higher standard, and balance responsibility with teamwork. I value the structure, discipline, and sense of purpose it brings to my life, and I want to continue growing in an environment that demands both academic and athletic commitment. Playing football in college is not just about competition for me, but about continuing the lessons the sport has taught me and applying them as I prepare for my future beyond athletics.
