Have you ever sat in a class and wondered what am I doing here? Who am I in here? Some teachers have felt like they are simply doing their job while others made that effort to have a connection with you. When I first walked into Arcata High School in 2022 I had no clue in the world on what I wanted to be when I was older. Soon enough I walked into agricultural biology where I met Mrs.Miller. Mrs. Miller true demonstrated what a true teacher was, but not only a teacher to me but a role model. She has truly been one out of many influential people who have not only been an amazing educator to me and many others but has been an influencer who teaches us life skills such as public speaking and life lessons. Seeing the great impacts she has made on others has taught me that I have the ability to do that as well. Being gifted with being great kids has shown me that it is absolute crucial to be patient, empathetic, and have to have passion to be able to fulfill a teaching position and be an effective teacher. Mrs.Miller has shaped my future goals by reminding me that there are still kids growing up and learning and I think this is important because we all get older eventually and so do they, they are our future and I think we need to remember that more often. Thanks to this amazing woman, I have discovered I want to become a kindergarten teacher and be not only a great teacher but an example and influence to those younger kids that rely on us for guidance and council. I want to create that space where students feel comfortable enough of learn and grow. Mrs. Miller’s influence has shaped both the person I am today and the person I hope to become in the future. She reminded me that education is not only about preparing students for tests, but also about preparing them for life. Because of her guidance, kindness, and passion for teaching, I now have clear future goals and a career path that I am truly excited to pursue. I will always be grateful for the impact she has had on my life, and I hope that one day I can inspire my own students in the same meaningful way she inspired me.
