The person that I am today is a reflection of those who raised me. I grew up with my grandparents and a single hard working mother. Though we didn't have much, we had each other. And that's something no amount of money could ever buy. My mother came to the U.S to have a better future. to which none of her goals were ever achieved. Growing up seeing my family struggle financially sparked something in me. That I will break the cycle of being in poverty. I had to learn many things on my own. I couldn't turn to anyone for help on my homework because of the language barrier and lack of education. That only made me push harder.
Once I started high school, reality hit me. I have to come to terms with the fact that I only have one option in life. Failure was no longer something I'll look past; that's completely off the table. I have to be grateful for this life and opportunity that was given to me. At just 14, I planned my life moving forward. Not only will I further my education, but I'm also going to help others. Once that seed was planted in my head, there was no going back.
I set my mind to studying in the medical field. Helping others has always been a lifelong dream of mine. My grandparents were constantly sick when growing up. I was taught how to check their blood pressure and when their blood sugar levels were too high at a young age. Now here I am, getting ready to pursue my dream in the medical field. I know my life was set for this career. I believe life is one of the biggest blessings, therefore I want to devote mine to help others. I won't see it as a job, more like my purpose. This journey might seem long, but I will have my family beside me no matter what. Anything I do is for them. My success will also be theirs. And even once this is all archived, I will only keep aiming to the top. I will be empathic, patient and reassuring to every one of my patients. This is something I'll forever stand by. I hope to make a huge difference in the world. I won't back down from any given opportunity. This is what life has in store for me. I am ready to give it my all.

I was raised by my grandparents and my single hardworking mother. I recall my first few years of elementary school being miserable due to the fact that I did not know English. Not only that, but I could also not receive any help with my homework because nobody in my family knew English or had any type of education. My mother would come home tired after a long day of work, eat a small meal then take me to my neighbor's house because she spoke English can help me with my assignments. After a while, I started to speak and understand it more. Which made school a lot easier.
