I am currently a first-year student at Florida A & M University with an interest in clinical psychology. Clinical psychology is an integration of social science, theory, and clinical knowledge for the purpose of understanding, preventing, and relieving psychologically-based distress or dysfunction and promoting subjective well-being and personal development. This is my focus as a psychology major because I have watched many students experience mental health challenges, especially with the pandemic. Families over the last few years have had to adjust to the pandemic, social unrest, job and income loss, and rising inflation. I am learning about student behavior and how that impacts the overall wellness of students and their families. I plan to explore a variety of areas around psychological services to maximize my contribution to the field. I also plan to use my skills to connect my expertise to technology to increase assess to support services. Research has changed as a result of technology. It has stimulated innovation in therapy, instruction, testing, and research. If technology is employed for diagnosis and treatment, it typically offers a more practical and affordable alternative. Numerous research has demonstrated the link between our mental health and our social interactions. They have an impact on our happiness and sense of fulfillment in life. According to research, adopting social technology like social media can improve our well-being and make us feel closer to those around us. In these trying times, technology has been essential for keeping in touch, working from home, and getting access to healthcare. Technology is essential for higher security, improved communication, increased information, education, and, last but not least, entertainment. The risk of chronic diseases linked to stress, anxiety, and substance addiction is also decreased by mental health services. Most importantly, mental health treatments improve the perspective of people who might feel lost and hopeless while also saving lives. People are becoming more accepting of mental health problems and more supportive of people with issues. They are more aware of common mental disorders such as depression and anxiety and are more willing to talk to health professionals and seek treatment. I believe there are significant growth opportunities in mental health and technology that will offer access to the greater community with easier access to services and support. I will continue to pursue my degree to advance this area and transform the profession. This will hopefully help transform the health of more minorities and remove the stigma of mental wellness.
