Faith, a beacon of order and promise, anchors us when the storm of skepticism rages and ominous rumors swirl. It offers a sense of stability and the hope of an unfolding future. This faith and power became my guiding light as I embarked on the arduous journey of launching my startup, an AI-powered financial advisory platform for VC, PE, and small business clients.
Nobody starts a business the right way, and mine was no different. There were all kinds of stumbling blocks—lack of funding, skeptical clients, and the stress of having a platform that could live up to its promise of offering sound, reliable financial guidance. My first major hurdle was getting the early funding for the AI prototype. A couple of investors had rejected it, and doubt started to settle in. I wasn’t sure the idea would fly.
This is when I turned to faith for support. Prayer was a daily ritual that offered some stability amid the unknown. Religion opened me up enough to see through the short-term pain and believe in my dream. It helped me see that obstacles were not obstacles but obstacles to progress. With this in mind, I rehearsed my pitch, iterated, and eventually raised the money I needed to realize my idea.
Faith, too, shaped resilience and perseverance. When technical problems cropped up during the process (for example, the AI model didn’t offer personalized guidance or make sense of the financial apps), I believed it could be fixed. This idea not only kept me going, but it also drove my team to continue. We were on it together, guided by values of perseverance and purpose. Faith, in this context, was not just a belief in the eventual success of our project but a source of strength that allowed us to persist in the face of uncertainty and technical challenges.
The role of community in my journey cannot be overstated. As faith communities offer solace in times of trouble, I had my tribe of supporters and friends. Their encouragement bolstered my belief in myself, providing the moral and mental courage to face challenges head-on. The sense of belonging they fostered made me realize that success is not a solitary pursuit but a collaborative effort founded on shared values and a common purpose.
Looking back, I can see how faith permeated every aspect of my journey. It infused my work with purpose, transforming my startup from a mere business venture into a platform that could empower small businesses, VC firms, and private equity clients to thrive. My faith also reshaped my perspective on challenges, turning them from daunting obstacles into opportunities for growth and change.
Faith and purpose are the same — it’s the union of my belief in the power of artificial intelligence and my drive to make a difference in the financial sector.
ADHDAdvisor's Mental Health Advocate Scholarship for Health Students
My experiences working with individuals facing mental health challenges have inspired me to pursue a career in healthcare, where I aim to promote emotional well-being through compassion, eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health, and improve access to mental health services. I understand the importance of advocating for comprehensive mental health support.
I have been fortunate to support friends and family members dealing with mental health issues. This has included listening to them as a compassionate friend and referring them to professionals when needed. These experiences have reinforced my belief in the importance of providing genuine support and advocacy and have shown me that I can make a meaningful impact in the mental health field.
Emotional intelligence is a crucial skill in medicine that I want to emphasize by integrating it into clinical practice. I have observed firsthand how empathy can be transformative for healing, and I aspire to cultivate this quality in future healthcare providers. Empathy benefits patients and fosters a more humane and compassionate healthcare environment.
It is essential to combat the stigma surrounding mental illness if we want to provide people with the opportunity to discuss their struggles. I began my advocacy efforts with small initiatives, such as community workshops and social media campaigns, to educate others and dispel myths. By promoting social acceptance and education, we can encourage open conversations about mental health.
Many individuals cannot afford mental health services. In my future profession, I will work to make these vital services accessible and user-friendly for everyone. I am committed to identifying and addressing structural barriers and collaborating with organizations to close these gaps, ensuring that mental healthcare is equitable.
Engaging in mental health advocacy requires involvement in various healthcare fields—ranging from policy to clinical practice—that will allow me to apply my expertise. My psychology and public health degrees provide a solid foundation for a career dedicated to transforming mental health care models and policies.
In conclusion, my journey from providing personal support to formalizing my efforts through a healthcare career reflects a deep commitment to advancing mental health advocacy. As I continue my studies and professional path, I remain inspired to nurture empathy, challenge stigmas, and enhance access to mental health resources, ensuring that emotional well-being receives the attention it deserves.
Charles B. Brazelton Memorial Scholarship
I realized how my childhood dreams of technological innovation gradually transformed when I recognized finance and law's role in driving technological advancements. My interest in the dynamics of the financial industry emerged as I witnessed its capacity to facilitate technological change, a revelation that became clear during my later academic pursuits. This shift from a strictly technical perspective to a more holistic understanding that incorporates financial skills was a crucial step for me.
It's easy to see how my childhood dream has evolved into my current career ambition. I am driven to work with technology, seeking opportunities to contribute indirectly through finance and governance. My childhood aspirations continue to guide my career by grounding my efforts at the intersection of technology and finance. As an investment banker in the technology sector, I can merge my passion for innovation with strategic thinking.
I transitioned from being a tech enthusiast to an investment banking advocate because I was motivated to drive innovation through smart financial practices. I also realized that significant technologies require solid funding to thrive and make a real impact. Mentorship showed me how finance can unlock technological potential, leading me to discover my ideal role within investment banking.
The combination of innovation and financial planning at the intersection of my adolescent dreams and my professional life sometimes requires utilizing economic tools to create innovative solutions. This alignment is evident in my ability to design custom financial products that not only invest in emerging technologies but also support the innovators behind them. My childhood fascination with innovation has translated into developing powerful financial models that enable transformative ideas to flourish and evolve.
Protecting the rights of creators has become an integral part of my work, partly inspired by the awe I experienced in childhood for inventors and creators. I understand that these rights are essential for maintaining a healthy ecosystem of innovation. This understanding compelled me to learn about intellectual property law so that I can support and defend the creators whose inventions drive technology.
If you trace my dreams from childhood, you will see that my goal has always been to help innovation and the economy thrive by leveraging capital. My strategic engagements with research and development as well as advanced technologies underline this mission. My role in integrating financial plans with the needs of innovators aims to foster a sustainable future driven by technological innovation and prosperity.
Ultimately, what started as a childhood dream of becoming a technological pioneer has evolved into a vision of reshaping finance to support revolutionary ideas and protect creators' rights. I aim to make a meaningful impact by contributing to innovation and growth through my work, which lies at the intersection of technology and finance. My journey is a testament to the enduring nature of childhood aspirations and how they can shape a purpose-driven and transformative career path.
Future Leaders Scholarship
My leadership path is defined by strength, creative problem-solving, and giving power to others. After navigating huge hurdles in organizing teams and driving practical projects, I've gained valuable leadership skills that I will apply in my next job to inspire teams, innovate, and influence real change in my industry and community.
When I was a project leader on a university sustainability initiative, it was one of the most daunting experiences of my life in trying to bring students of different interests and commitments together towards a common cause. Initial meetings showed the institutional inefficiencies and communication silos that kept things going. I solved these problems by creating transparent conversations and a common mission that shared each team's values. I broke down the walls and was present and listening to facilitate a collaborative atmosphere.
As the project progressed, I realized I should delegate to develop accountability and ownership in the team. Incentivizing fellow peers to be the stewards of subcommittees they excelled at improved their self-development and motivation, leading to more creative solutions. Not only did this delegation improve the project, but it also made team members more confident and allowed them to search for and sharpen their leadership skills.
Unplanned difficulties called for resilience and innovation at every stage of the project's development. I promoted flexible planning, where the team could pivot and adapt plans. Keeping my eyes on the end goal and proving myself adaptable, I clarified that this was not a one-way street and that the project would progress despite the continued setbacks.
That it succeeded – that the university's environmental impact significantly decreased – was a testament to the power of integrated management. That was because the team, the creativity, and the empowered work of every team member had led to that success. This was a case where I'm convinced that good leadership is central to making programs sustainable and impactful.
I plan to use these leadership abilities in my next job to incubate innovation within my industry. I want to be inclusive and transparent so we can think in ways that generate new solutions. Empowerment and flexibility will always be my primary focus so I can support projects that defy existing models and produce long-term change.
Leadership is a change agent. I know its power and transformation and will use my authority to solve serious problems in my area. Instilling motivation and purpose helps me motivate others to improve and break new ground. Looking back at my leadership experience, you'll see that resilience, effective problem-solving, and empowering people are not only characteristics of leadership but the key to making a difference. In the future of my career, I hope to leverage these principles and apply my knowledge to projects that impact my industry and community.
Bulkthreads.com's "Let's Build Together" Scholarship
As I prepare to enter the second semester of grad school, I am focused on building a company that integrates technology with community development. This initiative aligns with my values and seeks to empower individuals in underserved communities by providing access to vital resources and opportunities. The project aims to foster economic and social justice, ultimately contributing to meaningful societal progress. Higher education can be the single lever through which we teach people to handle complicated social problems. It encourages innovation, critical thinking, and better awareness of the socio-economic conditions that shape community formation. When we learn, we can build solutions directly relevant to our communities, enabling us to evolve as individuals and a society.
Business and technological innovation have the potential to transform communities. If enterprises create technology solutions based on the particular needs of marginalized groups, they can meaningfully empower them. These developments are not only more efficient and accessible but also create opportunities for economic participation, reshaping the way communities function in many positive ways.
Accessible content comes with risks and rewards for disadvantaged populations. Socio-economic barriers, technological infrastructure, and opposition to change are obstacles. However, these difficulties make it possible to build inclusive, accessible systems that respond to these groups' unique requirements. Innovation and business strategy are critical to overcoming these barriers and creating growth opportunities.
Entrepreneurship is a model of economic development and social justice through open economic opportunity and community reinvestment. Business innovators can create jobs, sustain new industries, and allocate wealth more fairly. Further, social impact entrepreneurs care more about the interests of disadvantaged groups, which is suitable for equity and decreases socio-economic inequality.
New business models can help turn off underprivileged populations by removing specific barriers to economic participation. With the inclusion model, for example, social entrepreneurship or co-ops, firms can bring community members into the financial process and support their self-sufficiency and long-term development. Such models are localized and operate under a model of society at large over profit.
To design a future that combines public good with individual well-being, we must emphasize how dreams and the social good feed into each other. When personal purposes are compatible with public purposes, we can obtain deep satisfaction from contributing to social well-being and sustaining sustainable communities. It's not just about finding fulfillment for yourself; it's also about leaving a legacy of social good.
Finally, my vision of using higher education to create a tech-based company to develop communities is a personal and public ambition. Using the project can bring economic prosperity and social justice, as well as solutions to solve the subtle problems of poor neighborhoods, using the pro-developmental approach that places communities and individual desires at the center.
Learner Mental Health Empowerment for Health Students Scholarship
Mental health, academic performance, and wellness are significant concerns for students. Advocates for mental health awareness on the streets can also provide a place where people can get support and dissolve the stigma surrounding mental health. Student participants can also build a culture of awareness and compassion for mental health issues by sharing their experiences, engaging in campaigns, and identifying advocacy targets.
When it comes to your mental health as a student, that has disproportionate effects on how you can function and do well in school, the cognitive load students are being put under, along with peer pressure and deadline pressures, can be crippling. Because mental health is viewed as an integral part of the student experience, it’s easy for students to make this sort of balance between the academic and the private. Mental-health-first students will have stronger resilience and more significant stress and anxiety levels and thus will do better at scholarly work.
As a student, I’ve been involved with several projects to increase mental health awareness. I’ve also had the opportunity to convene forums where students talk about mental illness in their own words, a space where they can tell their stories in a way that makes sense to others going through the same thing. These have been life-changing experiences that have improved my understanding of the urgent need for accessible talk about mental health.
I grew up in our neighborhood and saw a lack of readily available mental health resources, so I helped create a collaboration project with local mental health providers to host workshops and seminars. This curriculum isn’t just for college but for all walks of life, and we’re building a better-informed community that cares about mental wellness as a whole.
To make it easy for help-seekers to find their way, we must dispel myths and offer physical materials. This will involve the participation of students, staff, and teachers in creating an open and responsive culture. Mental health training for staff and peer support groups and making everyone aware of counseling options are crucial components of creating that environment.
Shame is still a big issue in mental health advocacy, and so often, we are left in silence and ashamed. I use storytelling and education to break down this stigma to show that it’s not a weakness but a strength to seek mental health support. Communities of discussion have worked very well in dismantling stereotypes building acceptance and empathy.
The relationship between mental health and collegiate achievement is evident. In teaching about mental health, students are urged to put their well-being at the center of their activities and improve their cognitive, emotional, and social functioning. This campaign helps curb dropout, enriches the student experience, and produces healthier, more productive graduates.
Put simply, mental health emphasis is an integral part of the educational experience that makes one successful and healthy. We can advocate, establish structures, and break stigma so that together, we can make mental health problems inclusive and healing. As students, we help with this work, and it’s both urgent and essential to create a climate of compassion and understanding.
Grandmaster Nam K Hyong Scholarship
My journey to higher education started with distressing situations, between two confusions of how to do well at the university and maintaining a keen interest in higher education without a lead. Several unpleasant experiences revealed particular wonders about how to overcome the different aspects in the context of financial problems and cultural shock. The academic responses to these two global problems were the key aspects of my early to higher education. In addition, my character strengths and adaptive skills inspired and contributed to the forward momentum attributed to my career.
Maintaining and doing school work well in my lifestyle was the basis of my academic career, for you need to do that well to be a professional. Therefore, facing financial problems brought me up for my struggle for a successful life.
Nevertheless, to be a tailor in an era of professions, engineering and philosophy were the leading world in higher education, and I struggled to obtain some mentorship. However, I could not, so I chose to work and study alone.
I learned a lot in high school, and fortune also. Then, I enrolled at the university. Unfortunately, I completed my first year of college without knowing what I wanted to major in or how to solve my financial problems.
After my first year, I made it back to campus. The undertakings of hard work, financial strains, and voluntary suffering set me on a course for success. A burning desire to learn became my defining feature. It is the primary reason I persevered. It also fuels my ambition.
My mother and youngest sister are encouraging and give me what I need for reflection. After four years of hardship, I started to serve society. At the beginning of my professional life, my hard work and personal sacrifices were praised and served as a benchmark.
My vocational life has been in finance and business, and thus far, it has been advantageous. In the future, I plan to become a surgeon and gain an MSc in Morphology.
Managed by academic demands and financial obligations created a road of unmatched discipline, which might not have been taught otherwise. Having to work and study simultaneously while balancing household responsibilities helped cultivate a solid and persistent working ethic alongside an acute sense of time and task prioritization—all essential skills for life. It also brought home the significance of education as a critical driver to alter life course, further motivating me to pursue the virtually inevitable degree in finance and business.
Little ready guidance and mentorship were available, but the lack also led me to find more and actively pursue mentorship from senior professionals, academics, and others who helped clarify my route to higher education and map my path in the business world.
Out of this challenging labyrinth of obstacles rose a single-mindedness and grit, two highest-yielding traits, if I may put it this way – because it was precisely these very characteristics that had propelled me to excel in my academic and professional career – something for which I chose Physics in college. I could write an essay here about how overcoming these many obstacles had driven me to success, but what I would like to highlight was that, along the way, each obstacle was my opportunity to learn – an opportunity to adapt and learn to swim, to rise in my station and achieve success.
Throughout my academic and professional experiences, my passion for finance and business has led me to these accomplishments. Taking high-level courses applicable to your professional interests will help you build the fundamental requisite knowledge and guide you in setting goals for your future in the same field. Moreover, additional and extracurricular training, such as internships, became a part of my career preparations, which supported and advanced my field of study and work.
In conclusion, my journey to higher education has been a challenging journey of overcoming obstacles, i.e., financing and academic prospects. It was also a trip to pursue many mentors and take a step forward to success. Starting from the very beginning, it was challenging. I was always financially unstable, and my academic performance showed that I needed to be in my proper element. However, my interest in learning never faded away. It was the moment I realized that I wanted to create change in my field and myself. That's when I started actively pursuing what I loved, and other mentors led me from one field to another. My undergraduate experience was a whirlwind of emotions. I was behind others and lacked ambition compared to them. However, I still exercised patience while finding something to be passionate about. It took a while, but eventually, one mentor led me to finance, and another led me to sustainable business practice within that field. My career path is to become a change innovator within finance, someone driven to make sustainable business practice the norm within the finance field and in the world outside it. This is how I envision my future. Although the journey has been challenging, my luck with supportive mentors throughout has enabled me to reach this stage I am at now. Change does not only have to start within oneself but also in one's field. That's my resolve; my vision will become a reality. With resilience, experience, and a clear path, I look forward to leveraging my education and skills to take the field of finance toward a purposeful change that benefits generations to come.
Amoah-Koi Scholarship
My name is Jordan Alexander Davis, and at the center of both my academic and professional life is a passionate endeavor to blend the pioneering worlds of finance and business strategy through a lens of valuable social consequence. I am an MBA student at Babson College (class of ‘26) and a former investment banker and intellectual property analyst, having gained a firm grasp of the various workings of the financial markets and the importance of intangible assets to any business. My long-term vision entails more than personal prosperity; it uses my acquired arsenal to help promote change and transform businesses toward becoming competitive and a positive force for our society.
The fulcrum of my career goals is based on the belief that business – and in particular, early-stage artificial intelligence – is one of the essential vehicles for addressing many critical global issues, and it is at this point where these two forces – business strategy and positive societal impact – can be harnessed to each other. Given the ability of artificial intelligence to improve health care, education, and environmental conservation, I want to help support early-stage artificial intelligence companies in funding and strategy. The goal here isn’t just technological advancement but to foster these technologies to reach the best social good. My school and community are also worth mentioning. I have been a competitive pool sports player in a demanding regional league for several years. I mentor teams and other players to build resilience, strategy, and continuous improvement, qualities equally applicable to the workplace and in competitive pool leagues. My sports mentoring is part of my long-term goal of committing to community and constant improvement. Supporting the development of robust, resilient, and successful young people is an opportunity that I love and am constantly undertaking.
Ultimately, it is the culmination of two centers of gravity: an innate interest in the workings of finance and business strategy and two, the desire to contribute to society. Together, this focus channels my career toward roles that can impact the direction of potentially essential and creative companies just as much as the larger societal community. I look forward to what lies ahead and am confident this will be one of my next steps. The goal is simple: to be an active participant in the finance sector, not only defined by my strategic insight but also by my desire to contribute to social progress.
Dwight "The Professor" Baldwin Scholarship
To sum up, while living with my ADHD and the challenges it brings to my education and professional life have certainly played a part in defining some aspects of my educational setting and career, the specific elements of my learning and professional development that it has supported (both directly and indirectly) have been quite relevant and positive. Firstly, my ADHD has defined the ‘when, where, and how’ aspects of my educational setting from day one. It has defined my environment, how I experience the world, and how I engage with it. This was highly significant in shaping the specific educational setting in which I felt most relevant and most comfortable – the special private schools and colleges where I could thrive and where I could eventually stem the tide of mental health issues and excessive emotional outbursts. At its most productive, my ADHD was also a ‘what’ in this context. It was part of the bigger picture when I explored my academic and professional options. For example, I had to shift from humanities to business, and finally to investment banking, mainly because the former interests didn’t seem to translate into a career to assess them further.
In a business such as investment banking, characterized by speed and stress, the demands of work require constant and meticulous task organization, emphasized further when that organization relies not on a memory fueled by serotonin and dopamine but on poor functioning of other processes. Physical fitness also plays a large part, as delivering oxygen to the brain and body is integral to keeping metabolic functions oiled for the casualties of day-to-day commercial working life. The supplementary vigors I embraced after the onset of fatigue were yoga, swimming, cycling, and running.
With the extra funds, I could significantly ease the financial burden of going to grad school by allowing me more time to focus on my ADHD, which would allow me to handle it more effectively and, therefore, keep my school life on track and thriving. Money provides access to more tools to help with ADHD (coaches or other types of organizational resources, for example), which is proven to keep people with ADHD on track successfully, but for a high price. Additional funds would also allow me to be more active in the Babson community without the aura of sizeable financial stress following me as I devote extra time to my school clubs, my Networking, and other club activities that ultimately keep cash in short supply. Furthermore, this increased presence in the Babson community would only allow me to further take advantage of my education because being involved in the community will enable you to meet a lot of people, and those are the people that you will need to make it in the high-powered world that careers in business and finance now go through.
Moreover, it would fund the place from which I saw my future educational and potential vocational ascent taking root: a place where one begins to understand one’s ability to bridge a world of disadvantage to a world of advantage – schools for the poor kids, where I found my anchor in surviving diagnosis, to university, postgrad and, partially through the power of self-awareness of my own ADHD, to launching a future boutique investment firm from and thus achieving the pastor’s vocational call I was formally trained for – since I saw that call indeed as becoming the prophet of a visionary whole-person model of education and work, rooted in my experience of living with ADHD.
Book Lovers Scholarship
If I were to recommend that everybody read one book, one book that would really make a difference to you, it would be Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich. Think and Grow Rich has had such a major impact on my life that I recommend it to everyone. I graduated from college and was at a crossroads in my life. I stumbled into reading Think and Grow Rich, and it changed my life – and it keeps on changing my life – forever. Think and Grow Rich, through my reading and application, has given me belief in the fact that positive thinking really works – in life, in career, in social service, and in philosophy.
I don’t think I would have gone into finance or played so much pool or coached young people over the years if not for ‘Think and Grow Rich’. The central idea – that you have to believe you will be successful to be successful – really struck me. The book’s lessons on perseverance, purpose, and hope benefited me greatly. In many ways, it reminded me of the power of tools I already had – a belief in my ability to use my gifts to make a positive contribution within my community and an emphasis on the strength of determination, discipline, and a well-thought-out goal.
Think and Grow Rich is hope in action… it can help anyone become keenly aware of his or her possibilities, and thus create a world in which every life means fair play and opportunity for happiness and success… If ever there was a book that could change your life, this is it – and it certainly has for me.

Augustus L. Harper Scholarship
Your education is a continuous journey, particularly within the finance and business fields that drive your career. My ambitions to enter the financial industry and secure a junior-level job in investment banking, specializing in backing early-stage businesses, including artificial intelligence start-ups, have motivated me to apply for an MBA program at Babson College. The unique opportunities and resources offered by Babson, such as its renowned faculty and diverse student body, have not only solidified my decision but also sparked a genuine interest in your program. I am particularly drawn to Babson's focus on entrepreneurship and its strong network in the finance industry, which I believe will be instrumental in my career aspirations. This degree is a more holistic motive than career-oriented since my ambitions aim also to give back to the community.
Studying at Babson College will significantly contribute to my future success. The diverse backgrounds of every student, faculty, and staff on campus and their collective willpower to work together are vital to achieving success. This is why I am confident that I can achieve my dream job of working in a global finance corporation and develop the leadership skills necessary to make correct decisions in a fast-paced world.
The diversity of exposure during the MBA program at Babson College will be instrumental in helping me reach the highest altitude of investment banking. Through courses on financial analysis, risk management, and corporate strategy, I will learn how to operate—and then sway—global financial markets, which is crucial for my career transition.
The second significant benefit is the personal and professional growth I anticipate from studying for an MBA. The traits developed through the intellectual competitive challenge and high work ethic of graduate study are not only beneficial for crafting a high-pressure, high-stakes career such as one in the investment banks, but also demonstrate my commitment to personal and professional growth. I believe that education equips people to fight for power and success, and I am eager to harness this power through the MBA program at Babson College.
Ultimately, Babson’s MBA isn’t about meeting one’s personal and professional goals—it is about teaching social responsibility and preparing you to overcome challenges, foreseen and unforeseen, and be a change agent for society. Social readiness is not snobbery. The synthesis between theory and practice, between personal and social goals, will make my Babson experience truly transformational: creating foundational structures that will make us ‘society ready’ but, more importantly, will make us genuinely great at ‘changing society.’
It’s this vision of education that makes the MBA curriculum less parochial than a traditional training regimen, one in which every class and course is imbued with a sense of life fulfillment and meaningful engagement with the world in service of humanity, as well as explicitly outlining why an MBA might help to develop the kinds of leaders that can reform the world – if not for the better, then at least for the greater good.
