To whom it may concern. Joshuah Lopez is a hardworking man who is looking to further his education. His whole life he has been searching for a passion and he has found it in firefighting. Joshuah has dedicated the past year to training his body to prepare for the rigorous schooling he needs to to take. Within the past 6 months he has dropped pounds and gained so much wisdom from talking to present and past firefighters learning about what he needs to do to be the best. Joshuah isn’t only dedicated in his work life but also at home. Joshuah is a married man of 3 years. His wife Emilee is very supportive of his dreams and wants nothing more than to watch him succeed. Things are not as easy financially because Emilee has an incurable and untreatable mitochondrial disease. So Emilee fights to be able to work part time. Joshuah drives Emilee where she needs to go because of her disease her eye sight is deeply hindered and would make it very unsafe for her to drive. Joshuah has never once complained and looks at it as a privilege. Which shows what a wonderful person he is and how great he would be at helping others in this field. If you would like to help this sweet family follow their dreams please bless them with any scholarship you may have. May you all have a blessed day and God bless.

Acts of service. That’s what Jesus tells us to do. To make ourselves servants to the people. That’s what I want to do. To be of service. To be a vessel for God and the Holy Spirit. My goal is to be a Fire Fighter and use the fire of the Lord to lead me to help others in need.
I’m a first generation college student. My parents both immigrated from Mexico as teenagers. College was something that was never on my parents radar. We were raised with the mindset once you finish school, if you finish school at all, you go straight to work. So finding financial help is difficult. With your help I could better help others with my skills I gain. I want to thank you for this opportunity. If you choose me I will make you and God proud with my dedication to spreading the word and Gods light to all communities.
My whole life I’ve searched for a passion. I’ve felt empty for a long time trying to find something to fulfill that hole. When I met my now wife she brought me back to the Lord. We started weekly Bible studies and within a few months of studying I decided I needed to be baptized. I invited my family and they came. I want to believe my example helped lead my family back to the cross. My family has had issues in the past with worldly sin and the devil trying to pull us into their souls. We all battle our own demons and seeing my parents go through what they did made me a more conservative man. I made it very important in my life to not use substances to heal any issues that I have. I have seen on the past how that has affected my family for the worst and I knew that was not what I wanted for myself.
God has always been a constant when the world has constantly pushed me down. My wife is disabled and has an incurable untreatable mitochondrial disease. Seeing her strength and her faith in God in spite of the hand the world has dealt her inspires me daily. She inspires me to help those who can’t help themselves. Everyday I get to do go out and help others is a blessing and a privilege not everyone is given. That wasn’t something I realized until I met her. The little things I took for granted. Like taking a shower, driving myself to work, walking long periods without a break, those things my wife can’t do easily. Meeting her has turned my whole world around. Her connection with the Lord inspires me. She is also a worker for the Lord. Even in her profession. She’s a massage therapist and is dedicated to showing people the love of the Holy Spirit through healing. Seeing her so passionate in her work inspires me. Inspired me to follow a passion I didn’t know could actually be a reality. With her motivation I’ve spent the last year whipping myself into shape. Losing 40lbs and going to the gym regularly. Praying with my wife is my biggest motivator. When we spend time talking to God it’s what fuels me.
I want to thank you for your time reading my essay. If you choose me I would be forever thankful for your help and use it to help other and spread God’s love through my acts of service to the community. Have a blessed day.

SnapWell Scholarship
What is your passion? What do you want to do with the scholarship? How will you give back to the community with it?
Firefighting. That’s the career I want to pursue. No, not career. Dream. I want to be that hero in the movies who saves the day. Doing this will show others that I am a man of God’s will. Using my determination I have worked the past year to train my mind and body to be a vessel for those who need me. With the help of my wonderful wife, who inspires me everyday by working with a chronic debilitating incurable disease, I’ve learned that strength isn’t all about muscle mass. It’s about being that person who is strong enough to stand up for those who can’t stand for themselves. If I’m awarded this scholarship I would use it to learn how to be a better person and service member to my community. I would use it to better myself as a man and continue to push to be the person God knows I can be. I would pay it forward in the future by mentoring others who are in the same shoes I’m in now. My wife she was born with a disease that has no cure or any form of treatment. When I met her I realized there were things in my life I took for granted. Getting up and being able to go drive down the road. Taking a shower without the need of a chair or a break afterwards. After meeting her my perspective of the whole world changed. She opened my eyes to how people that have abilities should help those who don’t. We shouldn’t look at it as a burden but a privilege to be able to be of service. If I win this scholarship it would change my whole families life. My wife wouldn’t have to work so hard that she has to sleep 3 days straight on her off days. I could spend more time helping the community and learning hands on experience. My uncle is an amazing fire fighter and he just recently was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Seeing that happen to someone so healthy and active reminded me life is too short not to chase your dreams. He has been helping me train and find the best schools and teachers to be the best man of service I can be! I’m so thankful for my family and support system. I know not everyone has that kind of unconditional love and support and if I would win this scholarship I would foster others under my wing like my uncle did for me. The words he spoke to me inspired me and motivated me in a way books could never. That’s the man I want to be. With your help I could help make this world a better place to be alive in. Thank you so much for your time. Most importantly God bless and I hope you find the most wonderful candidate worthy of such accolades.

First-Gen Futures Scholarship
