Augustus L. Harper Scholarship
Education is fundamental to one's development. Much like the body is trained by weight lifting and strengthened by progressive overload, one must educate oneself to work out their mind. It must be said that simply going to school isn't education. One must go beyond the constraints of the typical educational framework and work oneself through lifelong learning in developing oneself, fixing areas of oversight that resulted from classroom education, continuously developing skills, and strengthening one's ability to perform and think by applying the skills one has learned.
It is not enough to just educate oneself either. One must educate future generations to push humanity forward. Had we not built upon the knowledge of the past, we would be stuck rebuilding the wheel millions of times and there would be no progress. This leads to the importance of documentation. It is not only important to become educated and to develop one's self but it is also important to document what one has learned as well as document what new things one learns to further humanity. It is through this process civilization can advance and we can develop a better future for our descendants.
