I began my photographic journey as a freshman taking my first photography class ever. That class was where I picked up the basics of exposure and what all the buttons on my camera did. I began going on walks with my camera, learned about depth of field, and began creating my own style. The image of the truck and the sunset was taken during a trip to visit friends in Colorado, where my basic skills were tested and proved to not be bad. My second year taking a photography class was when I decided to push the boundaries of the curriculum by learning how to use lightroom and photoshop efficiently, where many of my peers lagged behind. I began compositing images to create photos like the burger shot and I made many more throughout my second year. In my third year of taking photography classes, I decided to quit soccer, a sport I had played my entire life. Although, the moment I quit, I knew I would miss the atmosphere so I used my photography skills to stay connected to the team. The image I provided was after a major goal was scored to put my school ahead in the final minutes of a match. I went on to photograph basketball and track and field, but with the limit of 5 photos, I struggled to choose only one. In this third year, I also learned everything I know about lenses. Shooting in low-light conditions while still freezing motion was a challenge I had never faced before, and thankfully my school had enough f/2.8 lenses to hand out so I could get the shots I needed. In my fourth and final year, I have continued to take sports photos, product photos, and I bring my camera to any event I can, but I've been experimenting a bit more. I've learned how to take creative long-exposure pictures and edit them seamlessly. In these final two images, you'll notice that everything I learned in the previous years is included in them. My teacher has pushed me to explore new genres and learn everything I can, and I'm very excited to see what challenges I'll face next in photography. I wish I could share more images and I hope that my passion for photography is obvious.
