Bio
My goal is to help young people and their families get through systems where fear is high. I was a registered nurse for 18 years to comfort, care and teach. I became disabled just six years ago but it doesn't stop me from pursuing my dreams.

Bold Reflection Scholarship
I am a 59 year old woman getting back into college for the second time. I enjoy keeping my mind and body busy and I absolutely love to learn about anything. I was a registered nurse for 18 years and loved caring for others and their families.
In 2010 I had a knee replacement that wouldn't heal, lead to twelve surgeries in five years, when my doctors came in my room and said or asked, I guess, life or limb Jodi? I lost my right leg above the knee and have remained as independent as I can.
I don't shy away from struggles I hit them head on. I want to get this degree in Human Services with families to get back to what I do best.
I have a goal of writing a book, have 23 pages thus far. I've had two poems published and I just love to draw and write, short stories along with Journaling almost daily.
I have a grown son with five grandchildren who, unfortunately, at this time we're estranged but they're always in my thoughts. I'm also a three time cancer survivor so I know I'm meant to be here writing this essay.
Bold Learning and Changing Scholarship
I am 59 years old and back in college since 1995. I was a Registered Nurse for many years until a knee replacement with many complications took my right leg from above the knee. I persevered and plan on continuing to work, go to school and volunteer. I am a member of NAMI and believe mental and physical health need each other healthy. I live alone, drive and soon will be getting some help, another knee surgery coming up. I am on disability and barely survive during a month so I would really put this scholarship to great use. I have another two years of college before I receive my new degree in criminal justice and human services. Thank you for your consideration.
