The quality I value most about myself is my passion to learn new things, and how fast I pick new things up. Another quality I have that I value, is the wanting to protect people and help as many people as I can. This is the main reason why I chose to pursue my degree in Cybersecurity, so I can help keep people's identity and personal information safe from hackers and thieves. I believe my ability to learn new things will help me in my journey to succeeding with my cybersecurity degree so I can help others stay safe while they are online. I especially want to help make sure that our kids that go online to play games, or attend school, are safe from hackers and others harms out there that make the internet a dangerous place. I personally have been a victim of a hacker, and I know that it is no fun road to go down. I never knew how many people have had issues with their information, until I started attending college. In fact, multiple of my classes when I post something about me pursuing this degree, I have had multiple classmates that have shared their stories, and even asked that once I graduate if I could help protect them. Many people have come to me about their horrible experiences with hackers and losing their information, and how they are afraid to let their kids anywhere near a computer. I think that it is sad that today everyone lives in fear of their information, or money getting taken by thieves lurking in the darkness behind a computer. Not only are our kids in danger just from hackers online, but predators also lurk online which makes the internet dangerous as well. I want to be able to do everything in my power to make sure that many kids will not experience this issue, and that I can help others that have been victims be protected so they will not have these problems happen again. My closest friend lost over thirty thousand dollars to a hacker, I have lost two computers, and I know four other friends that have either had their identity stolen, or have had their houses broken into because a hacker found their location. If I can make a difference in this world, it would be to do everything I possibly could to protect as many people as I can.
