As I reflect on the Army careers of both of my parents I feel very proud. My father was a Army MP as a dog trainer and my mom was in the motorcade. My parents joined the military in 2001 for my father, and 2003 for my mother. My parents were then stationed in Seoul, South Korea which is where I was born on base. I value the lessons my parents have learned through their time in the military. The time in the military had given my parents a very intense sense of pride for their work, and made them develop an incredible work ethic. I have been lucky as to be able to learn form this moral that my parents had developed through their service and has shaped me to who I am today. When my parents retired from military service, my dad passed away suddenly and left my mom to take care of me and my sister at that time. As I had gotten older mother had remarried, and my stepfather owned his own business doing plumbing. Throughout my teenage years I had chores and responsibilities of my own to help develop my own sense of work ethic and self purpose in my work. I worked doing landscaping and odds and ends jobs for all of my neighbors throughout my teenage years, in fact still to this day. As I reached my junior year in high school, I switched my cyber school schedule to an at my own pace style schedule which allowed me to work full time. Since the summer of 2020 I used my time working with my father as a plumbers apprentice to learn a lot about the trades and the environments we work in. I have been lucky as to become well versed in the trades community I serve in. I believe that without my parents experiences and values learned in the military I wouldn't be who I am. I am lucky as to be able to serve the veteran community in many ways throughout the year. On the month leading up to Memorial Day, my family and I work cleaning up the neighborhood and preparing the veterans monument for our parade. As the weekend of Memorial day approaches we prepare by setting up tents, and chairs in front of the monument as well as cooking food for the guests who attend our celebration. My mother is on the board of directors for the Armbrust Veterans Association which allows us to provide all of this help for the parade. We also help cook over 300 meals for veterans in our community who are unable to make it our, or don't have anywhere to go. I am honored to be able to give back to the veteran community who has given so much to us.
