Bio

After graduation, I hope to find a job involving prosthetics. I find this topic really interesting, and I think I would enjoy working with a specialized team of designers to create prosthetic devices. Not only would this allow me to help people, but I would also be able to utilize my creativity and problem solving skills to make intricate mechanisms. Also, utilizing the Spanish minor I hope to obtain, I would like to travel to Spanish speaking countries to help those in less fortunate areas improve their lives with designs by the team.

Throughout my lifetime, I have accomplished many things. This includes being high school Valedictorian, receiving first place at numerous Forensics tournaments as well as participating in Nationals, getting selected for WSMA Honors Mixed Choir and Honors Band, and getting voted captain by my soccer teammates and coach. Growing up in a rural community and with a large family, I have become a hardworking individual with a teamwork mindset. One of my goals in life is simply to help others. I have always been willing to help out where needed. This includes setting up, preparing food, and cleaning up for events like weddings and dinners. Never expecting anything in return, the warm company and conversation are better than any payment I would receive. This mindset continues with me today as I volunteer for different activities such as children’s musicals over the summer. I have found that helping those in need brings immense brightness to my day. Throughout my high school career, I have always had a talent for mathematics and science. I enjoy problem-solving both on my own and as a team. I hope this future experience in the engineering field will deepen my fascination for this area of study. I plan to graduate from the University of Wisconsin - Platteville with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, an emphasis in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Spanish. After graduation, I hope to find a job involving prosthetics. I find this topic really interesting, and after participating in Undergraduate Research, I think I would enjoy working with a team of designers to create prosthetic devices. Also, utilizing my Spanish minor, I would like to travel to Spanish-speaking countries to help those in less fortunate areas improve their lives with designs by the team. By gaining new experiences, I will acquire the knowledge and skills to be successful as a Mechanical Engineer. I hope to not only improve in traits such as responsibility and organization but to also learn new people skills and professional skills necessary for the workplace. As I have been brought up to give back to the community by serving others, I wish to continue seeking out volunteer opportunities. My experiences have taught me many things from communicating effectively to understanding the effort behind all of the community activities. In the future, I hope to find more chances to help out in the community. Receiving this scholarship would give me the chance to enhance and learn new skills acquired through my educational journey while lessening the burden of the payments accrued from college tuition.
