On December 23rd, 2005, I entered this world, a fragile life born into uncertainty. My parents, strangers to me, were lost in the grip of addiction, rendering them incapable of providing a stable home for my three sisters and I. Consequently, just days after my birth, we embarked on a journey through the foster care system. My sisters – Maranda, Cheyenne, Lani and I, experienced the world as children should, with laughter, toys, and Elmo's World, yet it was a life filled with uncertainty.
Our initial foster family cared for us for two and a half years before a social worker's visit altered our lives. My eldest sister, Maranda, struggled to comprehend the questions posed by the social worker, leading to our removal from that home. We were subsequently placed in another foster family, one characterized by strictness and inflexibility. Our childhoods were confined within the four walls of our rooms, where the slightest misstep resulted in punishment. Our dreams and freedoms dwindled with each passing day.
Amidst this harsh environment, I found solace in books and school. I quickly excelled academically, thanks to my sisters who shared their knowledge. My love for learning grew, and I cherished the adventures found within the pages of Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series. These stories of demigods and quests became a source of inspiration and escape from the harsh realities of my life.
However, my moments of joy were fleeting, as I spent much of my time locked in my room, isolated from the world. It was during these lonely hours that I discovered the power of imagination, playing with toys and immersing myself in books. These experiences nurtured my creativity and resilience.
Summer brought temporary respite in the form of Camp Tomahawk, where I found genuine happiness. However, birthdays and Christmas were marred by neglect and mistreatment. I watched as my sisters were unadopted and abandoned, leaving me alone with the family that had inflicted so much pain.
Finally, on February 12, 2017, I was taken away from that hostile environment and placed in a shelter in Clarksburg, West Virginia. There, I found a renewed sense of freedom and built relationships with staff members who inspired me. I became a role model for a young boy named Junior, and together, we bonded over our shared love for Pokémon.
Life took a positive turn when Lewis, my former principal, and his partner, Jason, entered my life. Their love and support led to my adoption on September 19th, 2018. Under their guidance, I flourished academically, earning straight A's in honors and AP courses. I embraced extracurricular activities, participating in musicals, joining the tennis and cross country teams, becoming student government president, and learning to become a leader in the community.
My aspirations are clear - I plan to pursue higher education and embark on a career in the medical field, driven by the desire to help others. Alongside my academic journey, I will continue to play tennis and find joy in life's simple pleasures.
My upbringing has instilled in me resilience, determination, and an unwavering commitment to shaping a brighter future. Through education and unwavering support, I am determined to overcome adversity and make a lasting impact in the world. College represents the next chapter in my journey, one filled with boundless opportunities and the chance to realize my dreams of serving others in the medical field.

I'm passionate about tennis for various reasons, and I believe it brings significant benefits to the community. Tennis is not just a sport; it's a way of life that fosters physical fitness, mental agility, and social connections.
Tennis has been a part of my life for 3 years. The adrenaline rush of sprinting across the court to make that perfect shot, the precision required to ace a serve, and the strategy involved in outsmarting opponents have all deeply captivated me. Tennis is a sport that demands both physical prowess and mental acuity. It's a true test of one's agility, endurance, and focus, and this challenge is what fuels my passion for it.
One of the reasons I am passionate about tennis is the invaluable life lessons it imparts. Playing tennis has taught me the importance of discipline and hard work. To improve my game, I've had to dedicate countless hours to practice, refining my techniques, and building my physical fitness. This commitment has translated into other aspects of my life, helping me excel academically and professionally. Tennis has taught me that perseverance pays off, a lesson that I believe can benefit anyone in our community.
Furthermore, tennis is a sport that promotes inclusivity and diversity. It doesn't discriminate based on age, gender, or skill level. In my local community, I've witnessed individuals from all walks of life come together to enjoy the game. It fosters a sense of belonging and camaraderie. Tennis clubs and community courts provide a space for people to connect, form friendships, and support each other. It's a sport where children can learn from their elders, and where adults can mentor the next generation, bridging generational gaps.
Tennis also contributes to the physical well-being of the community. It encourages an active lifestyle, helping combat the sedentary habits that are prevalent in today's society. Regular tennis matches are a great way to stay fit and healthy, improving cardiovascular health, strength, and flexibility. It is an accessible sport, requiring minimal equipment and space, making it an ideal choice for people of all ages to stay active.
Moreover, tennis can be a vehicle for philanthropy and community development. Many tennis tournaments and events are organized to raise funds for charitable causes. These events bring the community together for a shared purpose, whether it's supporting local charities or promoting a healthier lifestyle. The sense of achievement derived from these activities not only benefits the community but also inspires individuals to give back in various ways.
My passion for tennis goes beyond the thrill of the game. It encompasses the life lessons, inclusivity, physical well-being, and community engagement it brings. Tennis has the power to unite people, teach valuable skills, and promote a healthier lifestyle. It is a sport that benefits not only individuals but also the community at large. I am enthusiastic about tennis not just for my personal growth but because I see how it enriches the lives of those around me. Tennis isn't just a sport; it's a catalyst for positive change in our community.
