Art is an integral part of our daily lives. It is virtually impossible to go about one's days without encountering some type of art: whether that be murals, sculptures, logos, even the architecture that makes up your community. Art and society are intertwined, integrated so well that many of us don't notice; in fact, some have come to think art is actually insignificant or even just unimportant. Through my studies I hope to refine my skills and break through into the art field and help society gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for art, in addition to providing genuine representation for overlooked minority groups and intersections of such, by telling visual stories both chronicling my personal life experiences and messages larger than myself. It cannot be overstated how difficult it is to find your footing in the art world; many have to give up on their dreams in order to be able to sustain themselves in these tumultuous times. Thus, I am humbly asking for your support in my post-secondary education journey: what I believe is my first step in attaining success and reaching as many people as possible through my creations. However, if I could leave a lasting impression on just one person, that would be great, too. Again, I'd be eternally grateful for any help I could get throughout this major part of my life.
